amelia not recognizing drew after he comes home from work
Unrecognizable
Tumblr media
— pairing: husband!Drew x Reader x Amelia
— type: angst
— summary: Drew comes home from filming and is unrecognizable to baby Amelia
— warnings: mentions of an absent parent // mentions of divorce // if i missed anything pls lmk
— a/n: Amelia is 15 months old in this story
You sat on the floor as you watched Amelia crawl around her little play mat. She was growing and she was growing fast. It felt like just last week you gave birth to the little girl you cherished with everything in you.
“Come to mama, Lia!” You encouraged her as she smiled and let out a loud giggle. You knew she could barely understand what you were saying, but you didn’t care.
She crawled right into your lap as you picked her up and gave her tons of kisses. The front door opened and you heard footsteps; that meant Drew was finally home. He’d been away for filming for few months and hadn’t been able to come see you & Amelia.
His tall frame stepped into your view as he stood in the middle of the doorway. He saw you with Amelia in your arms and he immediately dropped his bags and ran to sit next to you.
After he sat down and gave you a very long awaited kiss, he reached for Amelia with a smile on his face. The minute she saw him, she inched closer to you and hid herself in your arms.
Drew’s smile dropped and a frown took over his face.
“Lia, baby, it’s dadda” You tried gesturing to him, but she shook her head.
“What do you mean no, baby?” You questioned as if she could actually reply.
“She doesn’t recognize me” Drew muttered.
“What?”
“She doesn’t recognize me, Y/n. She doesn’t remember who I am” Tears began filling his eyes until they overflowed and poured down his face.
“Drew, she obviously does remember you. You’re her da-”
“It doesn’t matter Y/n! She doesn’t recognize me. I’m just a complete stranger to her!” He shouted before mentally cursing at himself as he realized Amelia was still sitting on your lap.
You had one rule that needed to be followed at all times: no cursing or screaming around Amelia. Granted the girl couldn’t speak yet, she could still hear the words and the intensity of one’s tone of voice.
Without saying another word, you got off the floor and carried Amelia to her nursery so she could rest. When you reentered the living room, you saw Drew sitting with his head in his hands. You stood in-front of him, waiting for him to apologize for yelling, but nothing happened.
“Are you doing to apologize or no?”
“Y/n, I’m sorry. But that little girl doesn’t know me. She doesn’t know who I am or what I’m even doing here. I’ve been gone for what, 4 months, and I’ve missed so much of her life. I should be able to voice my frustration, god damnit!”
“First of all, that little girl doesn’t recognize you because it’s been a while since she’s last seen you. You’ve been making money for us, so we can give her an amazing life, Drew. It’s not your fault”
“And I never said you couldn’t voice your frustration. You know our rule and you violated it. That’s why I’m ticked off” You continued.
“I just feel like I’m an absent parent. I’m not even here to take care of her or even see her grow up” He sighed as he looked up at you.
“You’re not abse-”
“Cut the bullshit, Y/n. You and I both know I haven’t been around as often as I should be”
“You’re not around because you’re working to provide for us!” You couldn’t contain your anger anymore.
“You know what, Y/n? I know how to solve this right now” He stood up in-front of you as you looked at him confused.
“We should just get a divorce” You were shocked by his ‘solution’.
“Drew, there are other ways to go about this-”
“Y/n our marriage hasn’t been the same for a long time. It’s clearly taking a toll on us and it’s going to take a toll on Amelia if we continue going on like this” You had tears trickling down your face at this point, but you partially agreed.
Your marriage had some issues since Drew went back to work after Amelia was born. Your schedules didn’t align anymore, and you didn’t want this to affect Amelia more than it already had. You just didn’t want to make a mistake. You didn’t want this to be the decision that you end up regretting.
You simply nodded at his statement, not wanting to argue any further.
Maybe this is exactly what needed to happen. Sure it wasn’t something you ever would’ve imagined happening to you, but as they say, always expect the unexpected.
Especially when it comes to Drew Starkey.
part 2 coming soon :)

classmate jeno x reader with enemies to lovers please 🥺
There were a million and one reasons why you couldn’t stand Jeno:
1. he’s an asshole
2. he’s the student body president for the second year in a row (you lost twice)
3. he’s a popular rich kid
4. he’s smart, athletic, AND good looking (I mean seriously... who is that lucky?)
Just to list a few.
You went to school together all your lives and it somehow felt like each year he got more and more irritating. This year is your last year and you promised yourself you wouldn’t let whatever ridiculous rivalry you and Jeno had ruin it. And so far you had done a good job of keeping that promise until this very moment.
School had ended for the day, marking the completion of the first week of your senior year. You were reaching for a pen that dangled from a string next to a sign up sheet when you felt the warm skin of another hand brush against yours. You raised your head planning to mutter a quick apology to the person until you locked eyes with that bastard Jeno. The soft expression on your face immediately went icy as did his.
“What do you think you’re doing?” you spat at him, the pen lingering in your hand. Jeno plucked it from between your fingers and wrote his name on the sign up sheet. Your eyes went wide and he dropped the pen, letting it hang from its string once more before turning to you and stepping forward.
“What does it look like I’m doing?” he towered over you with his height.
You groaned, stomping your feet before whining “You’re already president, why do you have to join yearbook too?”
Jeno rolled his eyes, “Because I need more clubs for my college application.”
Your eyes shot daggers into his. You picked up the dangling pen and scribbled your name under his on the list before turning on your heels and walking into the open classroom next to you. You emerged from the room an hour later, expressionless. You pinched yourself, hoping that today was just an awful nightmare. Person after person left the room, walking past you until the hall went quiet with the exception of a few voices that lingered further down the school hall as people slowly made their way out.
Things had gotten just slightly worse. When choosing the president for the Yearbook club, you and Jeno ended up in a deadlocked vote -- thus encouraging Mr. Park, the faculty member in charge to come up with the brilliant idea of electing you both to share the presidency. As if it wasn’t bad enough that you had to be in the same club. Now the two of you would be spending basically the entire year together working on such an important project.
“Im not going to let him ruin me, I’m not going to let him ruin me, I’m not going to let him ruin me,” you repeated to yourself quietly as you slowly walked towards the nearest exit, in what felt like a daze.
“That is quite the mantra,” teased Jeno. He had left the classroom last after talking with Mr. Park and caught up to you at some point. You jumped at the sound of his voice.
“What do you want now?” you groaned.
Jeno stepped in front of you blocking your path.
“Does it look like I want to be president with you? I’m being mature about it because it’s what everyone else wanted so you should stop acting like such a brat,” he spat.
“You’re calling ME a brat? How ironic,” you scoffed, “You’re already in a ton of different clubs and hold multiple presidencies. What else could you possibly need for your college application? You could even buy your way in if you wanted to.”
Jeno froze at your final sentence. You continued the assault of words. “You know what your problem is? You can’t stand to lose,” you said, standing toe to toe with him. Jeno chuckled under his breath before bending slightly so that his face was hovering over your face.
“You know what your problem is, princess? You’re okay with losing unless it’s to me,” he began, “You may still be royalty but that doesn’t mean you are anywhere near as powerful as I am,” he said as he straightened himself back up, walking backwards as he spoke. He tapped on one of the series of pins fastened to his school uniform jacket and you dropped your gaze to see what he was gesturing to -- it was a golden line drawing of a king’s crown. You locked eyes one last time before he turned around and stormed out of the school, leaving you standing alone in the empty corridor, blood rushing through your body with your fists balled up at your sides.
That night you returned home, diving right into your study routine and getting an early start on some assignments to distract yourself from the awful day you were having. You had just gotten comfortable in bed when your phone buzzed with new notifications. You leaned over to squint at the bright screen.
JENO: It’s Jeno
JENO: School tomorrow. 5:30pm.
You groaned before reaching for the device to type out a reply.
Y/N: How did you get my number?
JENO: I’m the student body president. I can do anything I want.
JENO: Just be there we have work to do.
You rolled your eyes at his response before locking your phone and drifting off to bed.
The next day flew by the way Saturday’s typically did. You had breakfast with your family before heading out for a jog and coming home to do some workouts on youtube in your bedroom before taking some time to study and do some yearbook club work. When that evening finally rolled around you threw on some black biker shorts and a comfy oversized black graphic tee with some rock bands logo printed on the front before putting your hair up into a bun.
Your school uniform was very preppy looking and you had to keep up appearances so every other part of your appearance had to be up to the same standard everyday. This resulted in you dressing quite “girly” so you enjoyed being able to dress down on the weekends when you weren’t out socializing.
Once you were done getting ready you made your way over to the school. According to Jeno, he had both keys and permission for the both of you to get some work done despite it being a Saturday. A security guard was parked outside by the gates when you arrived and you held up your yearbook club pass before he gave you a quick nod then immediately returned to watching some sports game on his phone screen and eating a sandwich.
When you finally entered the school and got to the Yearbook/Media club lounge, you found Jeno leaning back in a computer chair as he clicked away at the mouse with his eyes glued to the monitor. He didn’t hear you when you entered because of the headphones he had covering his ears. He was dressed down too. He sported grey sweatpants, and a white t-shirt and his black hair looked slightly damp as the strands clumped together slightly and rested against his forehead. He nodded his head to music, and tapped his free fingers against the desk he was seated at.
When you stepped further into the room he spun in his chair to face you. Jeno’s eyes scanned the entirety of your body before he slipped the headphones down to his neck and spoke.
“I almost didn’t recognize you without your preppy headband, all that makeup, and those stupid earrings you always wear,” he muttered.
Okay, low blow. The downside to wearing school uniforms is that you lose a lot of your individuality, and the school rules limit what you can and cannot wear. In fact, students had to fight for the right to accessorize until the ban was lifted. You personally enjoyed wearing tons of different earrings from hoops, to waterfalls and of course you felt a nice headband would draw together your academia look. Both were your signatures and makeup was just a given at such a fancy school.
“I’d insult you back but honestly you look a lot less annoying when you’re not wearing that preppy uniform jacket filled with pins and patches,” you snapped back.
“Whatever, I never said it was meant to be an insult,” he mumbled before gesturing for you to come look at his computer screen.
“I’ve been working on the first draft for the welcome week pages. I think we should follow this layout and theme for the rest of the yearbook. I’m submitting it to Mr. Park,” said Jeno.
You looked over the screen as Jeno waited for your feedback. “I like my version better,” you said after a few minutes.
“Your version? Let’s see it then,” he urged. You took a USB keychain that hung with the rest of your keys out of your bag and connected it to the computer before leaning over Jeno and pulling up the file. He shifted his chair backwards to give you room, and sat back as he admired you from behind. It wasn’t until you spoke to him again that you realized what he was doing.
“How does it look?” you asked as the document loaded onto the screen.
“Real good...” he said as his voice dropped an octave. You turned your head to face him, catching him with his bottom lip trapped between his teeth and his eyes still set on your backside before he drew them up to meet your gaze and flashing you a cheeky smile that turned his eyes into crescent moons.
“Stop being a perv and come look,” you said sternly as you changed your position, lowering yourself to your knees by the monitor. Jeno scooted his chair forward again before looking up at your work. Within seconds he had a series of critical comments spilling from his mouth thus triggering a heated argument between the two of you.
“You know what? I’m tired of going back and forth with you. Let’s just send both to Mr. Park and see which one he likes best,” he challenged. You were both on your feet now and standing toe to toe like you did yesterday during your face off.
“Fine,” you accepted. Jeno sent the files off and the two of you drifted off into other work. You were both working in the dark room, developing some film, when you heard the faint sound of an email notification ring out from the monitor in the room next door. You and Jeno immediately looked at each other before frantically wrapping up your work and rushing to the computer.
The two of you were huddled closely by the screen when Jeno clicked on the email to reveal its contents. You both silently read the screen before you were overcome with disappointment
Mr. Park: Hey President’s. Both look great and would work perfectly with this years Yearbook but if you want my personal opinion, I think I’m leaning more towards Jeno’s! Great work so far and kudos for being so productive on a Saturday! Reach out if you need anything.
You groaned as you stood back up. Jeno chuckled next to you.
“Congratulations, you win again,” you snapped at him. He was so caught off guard by your tone that his smile fell from his face immediately and was quickly replaced by a smug expression.
“Is that all that matters to you?” he asked raising his voice, “winning?”
You were toe to toe for the third time now and it was really starting to get on your nerves because Jeno was built and tall and something about him looking down on you made this stupid position even more annoying for you.
“One thing! You couldn’t just let me have this one thing!” you yelled back.
“Oh... my... GOD. You are unbearable!” Jeno groaned as he ran his fingers through his hair in frustration.
“You want to know why I couldn’t let you have this one thing?” he started, leaning down closer to your face. He was inches from you now and his breath danced across your lips when he spoke.
“Because... you’re such a fucking brat. Every time you whine and complain all I can think about is filling up this pretty mouth so I don’t have to hear your voice anymore,” he said through gritted teeth, reaching his hand up to your chin.
“And your face... the look on your face every time i beat you at something or take something away from you... the way your eyes get big and teary, and the way you pout your lips like you’re doing right now” he continued, running his index finger across your bottom lip.
“Nothing turns me on more than taming you like this,” he whispered. Your body shivered under his touch. You were fuming on the inside at his words. They hurt. Yet you were also feeling things you had never felt before. Your eyes scanned Jeno’s face, along his lips and eyes and his jawline. Your nipples hardened underneath the cotton material of your shirt. Jeno noticed. You fought back tears of frustration as one slipped down your cheek, cursing yourself for being so turned on at a moment like this.
“Don’t cry, baby girl,” Jeno muttered as he took his free hand to wipe away at the tear as his other hand cradled your cheek. Your hands were balled into fists at your sides and you stood frozen in your spot.
“You’ve been so worried about me ruining you, but maybe that’s exactly what you need to get rid of that attitude...hmm?” he murmured.
“I-I hate you,” you sputtered out, sounding more whiney than angry. Jeno let out a breath of air as the corner of his mouth turned up into a brief smile. He  stepped closer to you and you stepped back until you were trapped against a table.
“Yeah, whatever,” he mumbled as he hovered his lips dangerously close to yours, eyes searching yours for any sign of resistance. You broke eye contact with him as your gaze settled on his lips. You subconsciously licked your own as you blinked away the remainder of the dampness in your eyes.
You didn’t notice the way you gravitated towards his lips like a magnet until he leaned away from you slightly and your lips chased after his -- not letting the distance grow too much. Your eyes were still glued to his lips which had formed into a smug grin when you noticed how you had chased after his lips like a needy girl just as you felt the first wave of heat rush to your face.
“Just as I thought...” he muttered as one of his hands dropped to your waist and you felt him tighten his grip ever so slightly. Jeno ran his hand down the side of your body, trailing his fingers along your thighs before running his hands back up again -- this time gripping the bare skin of your waist underneath your graphic tee.
You sucked in air when his warm hands came in contact with your skin. His eyes were glued to your face and his expression showed a slight hint of darkness. Jeno gripped your waist with both hands firmly before suddenly lifting you off the floor to sit on the edge of the table you had been trapped against.
You let out a gasp as your butt landed on the cool surface, leaving you seated with Jeno standing between your legs. He bridged the gap between you by stepping closer and pulling you by your hips -- until every part of you was pressed against him. Your hands flew up to his chest to stop you from literally crashing into his chiseled torso.
You accidentally let out a breathy moan when your crotches met -- feeling Jeno pressed against your center, leaving only the thin material of your biker shorts and your undies between your bodies. Jeno bit his bottom lip in response and rolled his lips once more, making you whimper and sending your hands sliding from his chest down to his waist. You hesitated but your hand placement was a dead giveaway that you wanted more friction. Jeno pulled at your hips one more time as he met your center with another stroke. You felt wetness begin to pool between your legs and tightened your grip on his waist. This time it was you who pulled him forward but he froze just before your bodies could properly connect again as you desperately tried to rut yourself against him.
“Look at me,” he ordered. Your gaze immediately locked with his, eyes wide and lips pouted, a bit frustrated that he had stopped moving.
“Good girl... Didn’t think you’d listen to me so well the first time,” he said, rewarding you with another roll of his hips. You groaned at the contact.
“F-first time?” you question, rolling your hips to meet his as his breathing became more unstable.
“It’s gonna be a long year, baby,” he started, “We have to work together, so it’s my responsibility to calm you down when you get all bratty.”
There was something really sexy about the way you both managed to continuously grind against each other in pure ecstasy while having a full blown conversation, speaking between moans and grunts.
“I’m n-not a brat, you’re just an asshole,” you snapped as you crossed your legs at your ankles, pulling him against you even harder.
Jeno cursed under his breath at the friction as his hands reached down to grip at your ass before mumbling, “only person who thinks i’m an asshole is you,” he taunted, “you on the other hand are widely known for acting like a complete...”
You interrupted him with another roll of your hips, as a groan slipped from his lips. “Choose your next words carefully, Jeno,” you warned.
he chuckled before finishing his almost forgotten sentence, “princess... that’s what you’re known for. For acting like such a fucking princess,” he groaned.
Jeno wasn’t entirely wrong. You did strive for excellence when it came to your common interests in academics and extracurriculars. In fact, a pet peeve of yours was the fact that you and Jeno were always compared to each other, with most of the school being shocked that two people who were so alike seemed to always be at war with each other. In everyone else's eyes you were both one in the same.
Though you were respected, you weren’t delusional. There were definitely people who weren’t fond of you, but you had chalked it up to mere jealousy that was inevitable for a person who excelled as much as you did to experience. Jeno must have noticed your mind wandering because he lifted your chin slightly to direct your attention back to him muttering a soft “hey...” as he snaked his free hand up your shirt, hands brushing against your bare breast.
You moaned when you felt his fingers tease your sensitive nipple. “Whats wrong with being a princess? People only call me that because they’re jealous,” you questioned. You had definitely begun to soak through your shorts, as you watched a faint wet patch begin to show on Jeno’s joggers. You gripped at the collar of his shirt as he dropped his head down to your neck, leaving a trail of kisses all over the delicate skin.
“F-fuck,” you groaned at the contact, hips jerking.
“Exactly,” jeno said, lifting his head to lock his eyes with you again. “They’re jealous of how powerful you are... but that’s exactly what turns me on,” he confessed.
He ran his hands along your cheek, leaning in to a whisper. “Do you know how hard it makes me when I think about turning the most powerful girl in school into a powerless mess?” Jeno tugged at one of your nipples as he finally drew your mouth into his for a kiss. You whimpered into his mouth, overcome with pleasure.
Jeno deepened the kiss and for once you just allowed him to take control. As much as you hated him, you couldn’t deny that his energy was intoxicating and yes, maybe you were a little bit jealous of him for the same reasons as others were jealous of you.
How could you not be attracted to someone who was as driven and talented and equally, if not even more powerful than you were in that regard. As much as you butt heads there was no doubt that you were very much a good fit for each other-- if all the fighting and competition were set aside, that is. But this didn’t matter right now. All that mattered was the way he was making you feel. It was as if though all those years of tension had finally bubbled over.
Jeno’s tongue swirled against yours sloppily, just the way you liked. Even your bodies seemed to be on the same page. He pulled away from you after a few minutes of making out -- leaving a trail of spit hanging from your lips to his as he lifted you off the table and carried you over to one of the couches in the lounge area of the room.
The sun had already begun to set ages ago, and only the faint hint of the computer screens you had been working on were illuminating the room. Jeno sat on the couch with you straddling his lap as he pulled his shirt over his head. You did the same and soon enough you were both left topless. Jeno wasted no time drawing you towards him and trapping a nipple between his lips as he palmed your other breast. You arched your back into him letting his name spill from your mouth.
He kissed his way back up your chest as he pulled you in for a kiss.
“Mmm.. Need all of this gone,” he said as he pulled at your shorts. You got up from his lap, and he immediately began to peel off the remainder of your clothing, dragging the material down the length of your body.
His breath hitched as he stripped you of your shorts to reveal your white cotton thong. He brushed his fingers softly against the material before mumbling to himself, “cute...”
His fingers ran against your slit, feeling the damp material under his touch and making you grow weak in the legs.
“You’re so wet for me already... Such a good girl,” he said. Hearing words of praise fall from his lips like that made you feel so soft. For some reason, compliments hit different when they came from him. Your eyes drifted to the growing bulge in Jeno’s joggers.
Your mouth fell open with the sudden desire to be filled with as much of him as you could fit as you slowly fell to your knees. Jeno raised his eyebrows while he watched you intently. You tapped your fingers against his knee, “off, please” you said as you pulled at the strings in the waistband of his bottoms.
“Fuck, do you know how good you look on your knees for me?” he said as he lifted his hips to get rid of the rest of his clothing. Your eyes went wide when he finally settled back into his seat and began stroking his length while analyzing your expression.
For once you couldn’t blame him for the arrogant expression on his face. He had every right to be proud of what he was packing.
“Ugh, is every part of you perfect?” you complained as you scooted closer to him. You dragged your fingernails along his thighs as he drew his bottom lip between his teeth again. Your fingers danced dangerously close to his member as he slowed the movement of his hand before letting go of himself.
You wrapped your hand around him, shocked at how much bigger he looked between your fingers. He throbbed and raised his hips slightly, thrusting up into your first. “Needy...” you teased, looking up at him as you giggled softly.
“Y/n” he whimpered, a bit embarrassed at the sounds leaving his mouth now that you had momentarily gained the upper-hand. Jeno watched as you pressed your tongue to the slit of his cock before popping the head right into your mouth and sinking down around his length in one go, bottoming out.
Your lips were wrapped around the very base of his cock when you moaned around him, making your entire mouth vibrate.
“Holy shit,” he moaned loudly as he reached out a hand to draw circles on your cheeks while you worked at his length. You lifted your mouth all the way back, as his hips jerked forward again, fucking into your mouth as another whimper fell from his mouth. Your eyes were locked in his and you couldn’t believe how different he looked. His hard expression had gone soft. You had definitely managed to strip him momentarily of his power.
“So naughty - where’d you learn - to use your mouth like this- huh, princess?” he asked between thrusts. Your eyes watered but you continued to let him use your mouth as you watched him grow more desperate.
You removed him from your mouth with a pop as you pumped at his length fast. Jeno cursed under his breath before letting his head fall back on the couch for a moment.
“Gonna c-cum,” he warned.
“Look at me,” you ordered and Jeno obeyed.
You locked eyes as you delivered the final pumps, and waited with your mouth open and your tongue out as you felt him throb underneath your grip before spurts of his warmth shot up -- spilling onto your tongue and dripping from your lips down your chin. The remainder of his cum had spilled over onto your fingers, and you released him to pop them into your mouth to clean them off.
You were aimlessly licking and sucking at your fingers, caught up in your own world when you noticed Jeno staring at you, chest rising and falling with a surprised expression on his face.
“Hmm?” you hummed as you titled your head, wondering if everything was okay. Jeno, who had just cum harder than he ever had in his life was in pure disbelief at how you sat so calmly and managed to look so sweet and innocent with his cum dripping down your chin as you suckled at your own fingers. The sight alone made him start to grow hard almost instantly.
After a few seconds he snapped out of it, leaning forward and cupping your cheek in his hand like he had been all night.
“D-don’t think I’m letting you win that easily,” he muttered. He motioned for you to get off your knees, and he drew you in for a kiss as he repositioned you both on the couch so he would be on top of you. You seemed to have sparked the competitive fire within him.
Jeno hadn’t expected you to switch on him like that and he was determined to follow through on his promise of ruining you.
He trailed kisses down your body, skipping your pelvic region to drop kisses along your thighs as he peeled off your panties.
“I’m sorry but I won’t be going easy on you... not after what you just did,” he warned as he pushed apart your thighs. You could feel the warmth of his breath against your center and it drove you insane.
Jeno carried out the first lick along the length of your slit and it was enough to have you moaning and immediately roping your hands in his hair. You had been turned on for so long that even the slightest touch felt like heaven.
He flicked his tongue against your entrance, muttering to himself about how great you taste, teasing you as your clit yearned for attention. He worked at your flesh, dipping his tongue in between the folds of your center before prodding at your hole and slipping his tongue inside. You tried to move your hips against his mouth but he firmly held you in place.
“Jeno, p-please,” you pleaded. He smiled against your skin as  he continued to dip his tongue into your hole, driving you closer to the edge but still not quite getting you there.
“Whats wrong, princess?” he taunted before running his tongue up the length of your slit, once again avoiding your clit. You whimpered, reaching your hand down to feel yourself before he roped his fingers in yours to stop you. He lightly flicked his tongue against your clit, just enough to send electricity running through your body but still not enough to please you entirely.
“I want to hear you beg for it,” he said as he blew air softly against your center, the sensitivity was overwhelming. He planted a soft kiss directly on top of your clit that would have melted your heart a bit if you weren’t so violently horny at this point. So instead, your hips jerked against the plushy feeling of his pursed lips. Jeno chuckled at your body’s reaction, before repeating the action -- drawing the same result.
After the third peck landed on your clit, and the third jerk of your hips sent you into a frenzy, you simply couldn’t resit any longer.
Tears pooled at the corner of your eyes, and words spilled endlessly from your mouth. “Please, Jeno.. fuck, please let me cum. I’m d-desperate,” you confessed as your hips raised off of the couch, and he pulled away teasingly watching you squirm beneath him.
“How would you like to cum, baby?” he asked.
“I need to feel you inside of me,” you pleaded before adding a soft “please” to the end of your sentence.
You watched Jeno position himself at your entrance before stopping.
“i’m on the pill, we don’t need --,” you assured him, reading his expression.
He groaned straight away, interrupting you before you could finish as his mind drifted to places he was too ashamed to admit. He ran his head along your slit, making you twitch before he entered you with a quick snap of his hips, bottoming out immediately and forcing a scream from your lips.
You weren’t sure what to expect from Jeno but it definitely wasn't this. He angled himself perfectly, propping you up so he was hitting all the right places as he pounded into you relentlessly. Within a single minute you were both racing towards your orgasms.
“I’m close,” he murmured as he planted a kiss to your lips.
“Me too,” you answered, “one last thing...” you said as he continued to thrust into you at a delicious pace.
“Hmm.. what is it, baby?” he asked. You locked eyes with him, feeling quite shy at your next words.
“F-fill me up, please. I want you to cum inside of me, really really badly,” you whimpered and with a final groan at your unexpected demand, you felt Jeno’s warmth spill all over your insides, sending you right over the edge and leaving your insides contracting against him. The two of you remained exactly how you were for awhile.
Jeno was the first to move after catching his breath. He slowly slipped out of you with a breathy moan before lowering himself towards your center and softly licking at your folds even though they were covered in his own cum.
“Shit, i’m sorry... I barely made it to the end of your sentence before letting go,” he chuckled as he lapped at your skin.
“JENO” you shrieked as an unexpected orgasm rushed through you again when he flattened his tongue against your entire slit and you found yourself moving against his mouth in seek of more pleasure. You pushed his head away as you clenched your legs together feeling a mixture of both pleasure and agony run through your body.
“Sorry, sorry, sorry... last one, i promise” he laughed as he moved to your face to plant soft kisses on your cheeks and a peck on your lips. It took you a while to come back from your high.
it was a bit late when you guys had finally cleaned up and locked the school back up. Jeno had driven you home in his new Volvo which he tried to convince you was a totally normal back to school gift, and had texted you for the remainder of the night about things like yearbook, and homework. It almost seemed as though what had happened was merely a dream.
It wasn't until you were back at school on Monday that you realized that going back to normal was going to be impossible. You and Jeno still bickered over Yearbook decisions and didn’t hesitate to challenge each other during class debates but things had changed. Every annoying exchange you had simply fuelled your desire more.
You’d get into intense match ups only to find yourselves coming up with excuses about Yearbook club to sneak out of class for quickies in Jeno’s car. He even had his way with you more times than you could count across his desk in the office he was awarded after becoming student body president. At first it was fun -- your adrenaline would pump at the thought of sneaking around so much but then things slowly started to shift again.
Soon, you would spend afternoons at his freaking massive mansion of a family home where you guys would go over yearbook work. When you didn’t have yearbook work to do, he began inviting you over for study sessions, and to do homework -- all of which would end in amazing sex. Soon those invites extended to regular hangouts for no particular reason but to enjoy each others company and you found yourself drifting away from casual hookups to something that felt heavier -- more serious.
The final nail in the coffin was when Jeno let your little secret slip after getting so worked up in a class discussion. You had been discussing the symbolism of a film you had just watched for an english class when you began to clash.
“Baby, that makes no sense,” he mumbled after you had shared your opinion. He was doodling aimlessly on his notebook. The entire class went wide eyed, and a few gasps were let out.
“Actually, it makes perfect s--” you began before freezing. You had just noticed his mistake, and everyone had noticed yours which was how the pet name didn’t seem to phase you at all. Luckily Mr. Park quickly moved on to another topic as you both sat cursing yourselves silently.
After the final bell rang for the day, you locked eyes with Jeno.
“Idiot,” you mouthed. He offered you a sheepish grin in return as he approached your desk.
“I’m sorry, it slipped,” he began, “but now that every knows..” Jeno, slipped his arm around you as you entered the hallway. Most students minded their business, which you were grateful for while others stared and whispered.
“I have a student body meeting for the next hour... you have debate team right?,” he said as you approached an intersecting series of hallways. You nodded.
“I’ll meet you outside then, and we can go to mine to go over the photographer schedules for this months events,” Jeno said.
“Sounds good,” you responded before turning on your heels to head in the opposite direction. Jeno’s grip on your wrist had him tugging you back towards him.
He stood above you with an annoyed expression on his face, pouting. He pulled your face close to his, mumbling about you being heartless before he planted a lingering kiss on your lips, of course drawing the attention of onlookers. Your cheeks were on fire when he pulled back, leaving you flustered and a bit embarrassed as he shot you a final wink before checking his watch and rushing off to his meeting. You turned around to head to debate club, wondering how exactly your biggest enemy had turned into the sweetest, most caring lover you could have ever asked for.

Private Investigator
Pairing: Frankie ‘Catfish’ Morales x fem!reader
Rated: T
Warnings: some language, infidelity.
A/N: This is my first piece of writing in like five years.... I'm gonna warn everyone right now that this is probably not great hahaha. But it was impossible for me to get this idea out of my head and once I started writing it just kind of kept going.... And since it's all written out now, I might as well post it. So if you read this, thank you so very much 🥺💜 This is cross posted on AO3 under my username BlondiMarie.
Tumblr media
You always gave your husband the benefit of the doubt. Even when all of your friends warned you about their suspicions. So, when it came down to you telling them you weren't going to confront him about anything without proof, they took it to heart and got planning.
That is how you found yourself in a crowded coffee shop during the lunch rush. Your two best friends, Ashley and Erin, sit across from you as you all wait for the Private Investigator that they had found who knows where. Supposedly, though, he was very qualified. And prompt, you noted, as the man you assumed was here to meet you walked up to your table three minutes before the appointed time.
"You must be my 12:30 meeting?" he asks."I'm Frankie Morales."
"It's nice to meet you," Ashley speaks up, then goes around introducing you all.
Frankie shakes hands with each of you before taking the empty seat next to you. In the crowded room, his chair is set close to your side and you can feel the heat of his body next to yours. He's definitely a cute guy you notice, in a rough, outdoorsy kind of way. His hair curls out from under a worn baseball cap and his facial hair is scruffy, but kept short with a patch along his jaw that doesn't seem to grow.
“So how can I help you ladies?” he asks.
“Well it's really for our friend here,” Erin states, gesturing to you. “It's her husband. We are pretty certain he's cheating on her.”
Frankie glances over at you. “Pretty certain, huh?” he asks as the waitress brings a cup of coffee over and places it in front of him. You find yourself suddenly distracted as he tears open two sugar packets with long, deft fingers, then picks up the spoon to stir it in.
Realizing that he's probably waiting for an answer, you feel yourself blush faintly. “They are pretty certain. I just want to be sure either way. I don't have any specific proof that he's cheating,” you say, finally tearing your eyes away from his hands. He's thoughtlessly twisting the spoon between his index finger and thumb. It's somehow entrancing, the way his fingers move.
“But he's definitely pretty shady,” Ashley steps in. “Suddenly he's working long hours at work, coming home late from the bars and claiming he's with his friends. Plus when is the last time he even took you out?”
The question is pointed at you, but you ignore it by looking into your tea cup instead. It had been months since the two of you had gone on a real date. It's something you both enjoyed a lot in the early years of your relationship - going out to a new restaurant every weekend and ordering three course meals just for the fun of it.
"Yeah, I see this shit all the time," he assures, saving you from having to answer. "If he's doing anything he shouldn't be, I'll find out."
Your friends and him discuss his rates and when payment is due before they rush off, both having to get back to work.
"Did you have to get going too?" Frankie asks you when it's just the two of you left at the table.
"Not yet," you reply.
"That's good." He ducks his head a little so you can't see his eyes anymore, "I was wondering if I could ask a few more questions. Like about your husband's schedule and where he likes to spend his time."
“Of course. He works at an architecture company downtown. It used to be a Monday through Friday, 8 to 5 type of job. But the past few months he's been working late, sometimes he's even going in on Saturdays. Says it's some big project and he's expecting a promotion by the end of it.”
Frankie takes note of your husband's workplace on one of the tiny napkins. When he sees that you're watching him, he ducks his eyes from view again. “Forgot my notebook,” he says sheepishly.
You crack a smile at his embarrassment, but don't say anything, not wanting him to feel uncomfortable. You continue on like nothing happened. “He goes out with his friends a lot, but he's always been that way. I stopped going with him a while ago. He said it brings their team spirit down when he always has to explain the game to me.”
“Not big into sports?” Frankie asks, and you can detect a bit of teasing in his tone.
“Not even a little bit,” you laugh openly.
Frankie makes a little bullet point on his napkin and writes, ‘X sports,’ on it. “Any specific places your husband goes to watch the games?”
“Usually Sally's, over on 7th street,” you provide.
“Yeah, I know it. They do the karaoke after the game,” Frankie states nonchalantly.
“Yes! That's why we agreed on that bar. I'm a sucker for bad karaoke,” you laugh.
“You should see my friend Pope after he gets a few drinks in him,” Frankie chuckled. “Man can't even sing when he's sober, let alone drunk off his ass.”
“Those are just the best performances, though,” you say with a smile.
“It's definitely something,” Frankie nods with a snort.
Your phone chimes an alarm, alerting you off your next meeting you need to get to. "I'm sorry, I actually do have to go now," you apologize, actually feeling sorry that you had to leave this conversation. Frankie is easy to talk to, and an attentive listener.
"Oh, right. Well maybe I could get your number? Ya know, just in case I have any other questions as I go?" Frankie asks quietly, dipping his head again and fiddling with his long-empty coffee cup.
"Of course!" You agree readily, taking his offered phone and adding your details into his contacts. "And thank you again for doing this. It may end up being nothing, but my friends are very overzealous."
"It's not a problem. Just doing my job. I'll let you know what I come up with either way," Frankie replies with a small smile.
As you walk out together, he holds the door open for you and your turn to him once you both come out onto the sidewalk. "Does it often end up ending well? For people you've looked into in the past..." you ask.
Frankie squints a little and his eyes show flecks of warm caramel in the sunshine. "Not often," he replies finally.
You nod, your heart dropping faintly. His honesty is appreciated though, so you grace him with a small smile. "Thank you again."
You don't hear from Frankie for the next few days, but you do think of him. Especially any time your husband does something that makes your gut do that little tug of dread.
It's five days later that you get a text.
Game night tonight. Did your husband happen to say if he was going out? Frankie asks.
You reply maybe a bit too quickly, of course he is. He's leaving here soon to meet up with the guys.
You feel a little less self conscious when it's barely a second later and Frankie is already typing back. Well let's hope that's where he'll actually be.
He'd never miss a game XD, you reply. Sports are like religion to those guys. So you get to just go to the bar and watch them watch the game? Sounds fun hah.
No one ever said it was a glamorous job, Frankie sends back. But it's always a perk when I can drink and watch some football while I'm at it.
You send back some laughing emojis, and set your phone down to heat up some dinner.
Your husband sweeps through the kitchen, grabbing his keys and jacket. “I'm meeting the guys now,” he says.
“Ok, have a good time,” you reply, turning to face him. He nods, pulling on a hat. “I love you.”
“You too,” he replies briskly, dropping a faint kiss on your forehead and walking out the door.
You sigh, plating your food and wandering back to the living room to watch something on TV while you ate.
Your phone flashes a notification and you look down to see Frankie had sent another text.
How have you been doing? He asks.
As well as can be expected, you text back.
Try not to stress too much. I'll let you know if I find anything out, he replies.
It makes you smile, even if you know there's no way you'll stop stressing at this point.
The weeks went by and texts from Frankie became more frequent. He'd ask a few questions about your husband, then branch off into asking about your day. Those conversations then opened up to you both telling stories about your jobs, which would lead to talking about other aspects of your life. You talked a lot about your pasts - he tells you about how he grew up, some funny and interesting stories from his time in Delta Force, and about his best friend's MMA fights.
You tell him about your family, tell him stories about all the ridiculous people you come across at your job, and do a lot of venting about your crumbling marriage and husband.
You feel bad every time you bring it up, but it's always so much easier to talk to Frankie than it is even Ashley and Erin. At least with him, each of your concerns weren't met with a look of pity and “I told you so,” retort.
The marriage has been spiraling for several months now, and maybe hiring a private investigator was the push you needed to really bring the issues to light. You noticed more often when your husband chose to spend nights out “with the guys” and when he'd go into the other room to check his phone. And when you finally point out the lack of time he spends with you anymore, he gets automatically defensive.
You felt alone in your relationship and it was starting to make you feel bitter. He was definitely hiding something, and you trusted that Frankie would find out for you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Frankie had been working this job for a few weeks now. He'd worked a ton of infidelity investigations since he'd lost his pilot license and finally got clean. But this one was different. He wasn't sure what drew him to her, but he couldn't help but want to know her.
Was it professional to text your client every day asking her if Sally from the overnight shift left a pile of work behind for her to deal with for the fourth day in a row? Probably not. But that didn't stop him from trying to glean any little piece of information about her that he could.
He kept it friendly, though, trying not to cross farther from that line between client and something more. But she was a sweet woman, and she had seemed so quiet at that first meeting in the coffee shop. And sad. Like she didn't want to get caught up in the things her friends were saying, but somewhere deep down knew what they were saying was true.
And, dammit, Frankie always had a soft spot for sweet, sad women.
Which is why he is spending his seventh night in a row sitting in his car across the street from her husband's workplace. During their earlier conversation she had mentioned that her husband claimed he was working late tonight. But in the weeks that Frankie had been on this case, the man never worked late once.
Right on time, his target exited the building. He was not alone this time, though, having his arm around a brunette that Frankie recognized as one of his co-workers that he had gone to lunch with a couple times.
Frankie snapped a few pictures of them together, the target’s arm pulling the brunette closer than appropriate, in Frankie's opinion. They both got into his car and Frankie began to follow behind.
Just as they parked at some restaurant across town, Frankie's phone rings and Benny's name lights up the screen.
“Hey,” Frankie greets.
“Dude, where are you?” Benny asks, his voice pitched a bit higher than usual.
“I'm working,” Frankie replied, keeping a close watch as his target is sat conveniently at a window table.
“Come on, Fish, it's Friday night! Will and I are already at the bar drinking.”
Frankie checks the clock and scoffs a bit when he sees it's only 1830. “Sorry, Benny, but I have to work late tonight.”
“You make your own hours. Isn't that why you chose that damned job? So you can decide when you do and don't work. So just decide you can't work tonight and get your ass over here!” Benny all but whines. “What's the deal with this case, Fish? I thought it was a simple cheating husband. You're not usually so obsessive over these ones.”
And leave it to Benny to call him out on his abnormal behavior. “I'm gonna close this case tonight, I have a feeling. Sorry, brother, but I'll see you tomorrow afternoon for practice,” Frankie placates his best friend.
“Sure, ok man. See ya then,” Benny finally gives in.
It's another boring hour of staring at his target before they are finally on the move again. Back to what Frankie assumes is the brunette's house, where they both go inside and Frankie adjusts himself in his seat to find a comfy position for the foreseeable future.
It's another two hours later when the door finally opens and Frankie scrambles to get his camera up, keeping his head down. He hopes for a little luck and is rewarded when both parties enter the doorway and embrace with a final, passionate kiss.
Frankie's camera keeps clicking away, even as his anger continues to rise. He has to hold himself back from throwing himself out of the car and punching his target in the face. He wants to know why her husband would bother with another woman when he has her at home waiting. Wants to know why her husband would throw away everything he has with the sweet woman who was so trusting at the start of all this. But that would definitely be crossing a line, and Frankie has never felt the need to go that far before. So he reins himself and waits until the target has driven away and the brunette has closed the door behind her, before he drives home himself to develop the pictures and complete his paperwork.
Developing pictures at home can be time consuming, but Frankie usually finds comfort in the task. It's a hobby he took up to distract himself from his cravings, and the darkroom usually brings him comfort after particularly stressful days. Tonight, though, watching these images fade onto the photo paper, he is angry. He knows this news is going to crush her, regardless of her suspicions. And while this is usually the case with clients, Frankie isn't sure that he could handle it if you broke down in front of him as some women have in the past.
He's learned so much about her in the past few weeks, from her favorite color to her favorite song when she was 10, and all of these things have endeared her to him in a way no other person has before. And he's opened up to her in return; in a way he hasn't any other woman in his past. But she makes it easy.
It's late when Frankie has finished compiling the file, so he decides not to text her yet and strips down for bed and drifts off, hoping for at least a few hours of restful, dreamless sleep.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You got a text from Frankie late the next morning, hey, dulzura. What are your plans today?
Finally my day off lol, you text back.
Think you could pencil me into your busy schedule? Say in an hour?
Frankie had yet to schedule another meeting, opting to ask any questions he had between texts about their days. With a sinking feeling, you quickly type out, definitely. How about the same café as before?
Sounds good. I'll see you then.
You got ready with a sense of dread. You knew that this meant Frankie had found something. There was that small chance that he came up with nothing in these past few weeks, but the more realistic side of you knew how this would end.
The drive to the coffee shop was short, and the parking lot was thankfully much less crowded than last time. Walking in, you spotted Frankie right away at the same table by the windows. You placed your order before heading over to the table. He was stirring a cup of coffee again, but quickly turned his whole focus toward you as you sag across from him.
“Hey, how are you doing?” Frankie asked. “Your friends couldn't make it?”
“I'm good. It's nice to see you again,” you answered. “I actually didn't tell them. I kinda wanted to find out the truth privately. I'll tell them as soon as I've processed whatever you have to tell me. I'm assuming that's why you wanted to meet? You found what we were looking for?”
Frankie's hand moves to the back of his neck as he gives a slow nod. He pulls a yellow envelope from the chair next to him and places it on the table between you. “Yeah. I have some pictures here.”
You begin to reach out, but stop short before touching the folder. You know if you look now, in the middle of this café, you'll just break down when you see the proof of your husband's affair.
“Please just tell me,” you implore, eyes looking up, but not quite reaching his.
Frankie is quiet for a moment, studying you with his chocolate eyes. Finally he lets out a short sigh and responds, “Andrew's having an affair with a coworker. Looks like it's been around five months.”
The news hits you directly in the chest. It makes it hard to breathe. Knowing it was likely that he was cheating and having picture proof of it are two different things. You feel like it shouldn't hurt this much, but can't help the way your body collapses into itself.
“I know it's not the news you wanted,” Frankie starts, but you cut him off.
“No, but it's what I needed to know. So thank you. I appreciate all the work you put into it. I'm really sorry, but Ashley just went out of town and she won't be back for two weeks. I can get Erin's half of your fee, then get the rest as soon as Ash is back.” You quickly switch to the business end of the meeting, hoping to delay having to come to terms with this new information.
Frankie looks a little whiplashed at the sudden change in topic, but catches up quickly. “It's really not a big deal. I'm not too worried about two weeks. How about we just meet up again once you all have everything together. No stress.”
His hands are fiddling with his coffee cup again, and you focus on them as one index finger absently caresses the handle of the cup, the thumb of his other hand moving up and down the opposite side of it. You're caught off guard again by the movement of his fingers. It's sensual, how his large hands and long fingers massage the warm ceramic.
You're distracted from your observation of those hands when the barista sets your to-go tea in front of you. Finally looking up again, you see Frankie's brows have pinched together, forming a little worry line between them.
“I'll get it to you as soon as possible,” you finally fall back into conversation.
“That's fine. Really, don't stress about it,” Frankie reiterates.
“Can I ask you something?” You ask softly after a brief pause.
“Of course, hermosa.”
“Why did you become a private investigator?”
The question catches Frankie off guard for a second time; you can tell by the subtle widening of his eyes followed by a brief knitting of his brows. Then he quickly hides his eyes behind the bill of his baseball cap, feigning stirring his coffee a couple times. Not used to being able to see his face when the two of you have conversations, you realized he's actually quite expressive. He must know it too, because you note his hidden eyes as something you'd seen him do the first time you met him.
“You don't have to tell me,” you extended a way out for him, noting his sudden discomfort.
“No, it's fine. Um, remember when I told you before how I moved on from being a pilot to this?” At your nod, Frankie continued on slowly, like he was forming each word in his head twice before speaking it. “Well, it was less that I moved on and more that I lost my license. Uh, addiction issues. I know how that sounds! But I swear I'm clean now and -”
You can sense Frankie spiraling, so you impulsively reach out and place one of your hands on his large one. “You don't have to plead your case with me, Frankie. I'm not judging you.”
Frankie freezes momentarily, then relaxes. You feel one of his long fingers twitch on the tabletop under yours and quickly remove your hand. There's a little sigh from him before he continues, “well, anyway, this was kinda just something that fell in my lap. My friend, Ironhead, works with enlisted still and heard it's pretty easy to get into if you have the background and patience for sittin’ around and waiting. Well, I had the experience with my past in Delta Force, figured the patients would come along as I go. Never did like surveillance gigs.”
The last sentence seems like an afterthought, but you catch the mild disdain in his voice and it makes you smile to see the man in front of you sounding so petulant. “Ok, but Ironhead is an interesting name,” you comment.
Frankie huffed a laugh. “His call-sign actually. Most of us had one on my squad.”
“Oh really? And what was yours?”
“Catfish,” Frankie responds immediately.
“Catfish?” You repeat. “Where did that one come from?” you laugh a little bit.
“And that's a story for a different day,” Frankie responds with a laugh of his own.
After another small pause, your eyes drift back down to the inconspicuous envelope sitting on the table in front of you. With another small smile and a nod, you reach for the envelope. “I better get going. Lots of errands to get through on my day off.” It's a lie, but you figure a swift exit is necessary in this moment.
Frankie nods, then shifts his hat to run a hand through his already messy curls. Hat back in place, he stands and gestures that he'll walk you out.
Back outside, in the bright afternoon sun, Frankie looks down at you as he walks you all the way to your car. His eyes are caramel again, but they hold a bit of something akin to sadness in them. He drops his head, those eyes disappearing behind the bill of his cap, and slides his hands into his pockets, shoulders curving inward. “I really am sorry,” he begins. “I had hoped it would be different this time. You deserve better than some cabrón who can't see that he already has something great right in front of him.”
Frankie sounds so sincere that it stops you short. You look up at him as he peeks from under his hat. His mouth is twisted into a frown under his mustache. And that's all it takes for your eyes to begin to fill with tears.
In an instant, Frankie's arms are around you. He doesn't hesitate to pull you into a loose hug. One you could easily step away from if you had the care to do so. Instead, you step forward and accept the comfort. In a second, his arms close around you tighter and you're wrapped in his warmth, face pressed into his brown jacket. Trying not to fall apart right here in the parking lot, you catalog how his arms feel around you, and how warm his chest is.
His jacket smells like an auto garage, faintly like oil, but his shirt underneath smells woodsy - probably whatever cologne he sprayed on this morning - and, underneath that, clean like fresh linen. It's a comforting scent, and you breathe it in for a second longer than probably necessary before you finally lean back. He drops his arms immediately and takes half a step back.
“I am so sorry,” you apologize instantly.
“No, don't be. You have no reason to be. Just, um, get home safe ok?” That worry line is present between his eyes again. “Text me when you get home.”
“I'll be ok,” you assure him. You climb into your car and allow him to close the door gently for you. He steps back and gives a tiny wave before he turns and walks over to his own truck.
The drive home is a bit of a blur. You call Erin and Ashley on the way to tell them the news. Erin is instantly in her car and on her way over. “We are gonna change the locks and have ourselves a movie night,” she proclaims.
Ashley frets over not being there, but you assure her you're okay and she should enjoy her vacation. You only called because she'd freak if you told Erin before her.
Erin gets to your house 30 minutes later with a box of cheap wine and a bag full of snacks. You talk her out of changing the locks, but it doesn't matter either way because when you text Andrew to tell him you're having a girls night he tells you he's going to be out late anyway and not to wait up.
Your heart drops the way it always does when you suspect a lie. This time, though, it's not just speculation. You have the proof right in front of you, in an unopened manila envelope partially covered in chip bags.
“So is that them?” Erin speaks, noticing your gaze on the offending envelope.
“I guess so. Pictures and proof of my husband's affair with some front desk girl at his office.” Your tone is mild, but you feel a pressure building behind your eyes once more and that crushing weight settling over your sternum.
“Have you looked yet?” Erin asked.
“Nope.”
“Are you gonna?”
“We can open them together,” you suggest.
But before she can answer, your phone beeps to alert you that you got a new text message.
Hey, bonita, is everything ok? You never texted me… You safe?
His words bring a small smile to your face. Frankie always has a way of making you feel like he truly cares. Checking in often, but never overstepping into being overbearing. It's a warm welcome compared to the icy breeze of you and your husband's cohabitation of the same home, but never really living together.
You type out, yes. Sorry. Erin insisted on a girls night, and hit send.
That's good. Did she bring the salsa verde doritos?
Your smile grows at the mention of your favorite chips. Of course he'd remember something as silly as that. Frankie had a knack for remembering little details. Things you sometimes even forgot to had ever mentioned he would bring up weeks later in a random conversation. It's probably just a Frankie Morales thing, but it still always made you feel just a little special that he remembered such details.
“What has you suddenly shining like the sun?” Erin questions with a raised eyebrow.
“Nothing,” you know you're blushing, but you try to play it cool. “Just Frankie checking in. Making sure you're taking care of me.”
“Um, of course I'm taking care of you! Who else is gonna do it?” Erin jokes, pushing your shoulder teasingly. “Unless Mr. Morales was trying to volunteer for the job?”
“He's just being kind,” you roll your eyes at Erin's implication. “He's been very supportive through this whole thing.”
“Supportive, huh? And what kind of support might he be offering?” In a swift motion your phone is suddenly in your best friends hands and she's danced off to the other side of the room. Ignoring your protests and attempts to claim back your property, she starts swiping through weeks of conversation between you and Frankie. “Holy shit! Have you two even stopped talking since you met?”
“Come on, Erin,” you beg, “he’s just been asking for more information for his investigation and making sure I'm okay.”
“Two days ago you told him about the goldfish you got in college that died within the week. Was that pertinent information to his investigation?”
Seizing an opportunity, you snatched your phone back, clutching it to your chest. “Shouldn't you be trying to cheer me up?”
“Looks like your new bestie Frankie should be here instead,” she snarks with a raised eyebrow.
“Oh shut it and pour me some wine,” you reply with an exaggerated eye roll.
While your friend is busy you quickly type out a response to Frankie. She's pretty much the worst. Brought bbq instead even though she knows I hate them.
Frankie's reply is quick, or maybe that's why she brought them. So she wouldn't have to share with you, avara.
I don't know what you just called me, but I know I'm offended.
Frankie's reply is a long string of laughing emojis.
With the photos forgotten, you let Erin put on some 80’s movie and tried your best to enjoy the night. The envelope would still be there tomorrow, so for tonight you just relax.
It will probably be the last time you'll be able to in a while anyway.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Frankie hasn't heard from her in a few days. She doesn't text as often and it doesn't feel like his place to bother her.
Today, though, he woke up late after being out late on a surveillance job to a text from her. I'm kicking him out. I can't stand to live here with him anymore. I just want him gone and out of my life.
Squinting down at the bright screen if his phone, Frankie replies, is there anything I can do for you, bonita?
Recommend me a great divorce lawyer? Is her response. He knows it's sarcasm, but he shoots her a list of a few lawyers he knows of and trusts anyway.
Frankie was glad she wasn't going to stick around with the bastard. He'd seen that enough times to know it never works out anyway, and always makes things worse in the end.
You're amazing Frankie. Thank you for everything. I also have your payment in full btw. Do you have time this weekend to meet and grab it?
You really don't need to thank me, dulzura. I just want to help. This Sunday is good for me. At the café?
Her reply takes a little longer this time, so Frankie finally drags himself out of bed. A quick look at the time tells him he barely has time for a shower before he has to meet Ironhead and Benny for their planned fishing trip. Once Frankie is back, she had finally replied with a simple, yes.
She had rarely been short in her texts before, and it made Frankie's stomach sink a little. Shooting off a quick, let me know if there's anything you need, he pockets the phone and heads out.
A few more days pass with minimal texts. Frankie makes a point to text at least once a day. Maybe it's intrusive, but she never complains about it. And, if he's honest with himself, he misses her too much to stop now.
He realizes that she has become a fixture in his life. Going from texting multiple times throughout the day to barely a good morning text over his morning coffee makes him twitchy and he feels like he's always wondering what she's doing.
Sunday finally comes and Frankie is at the café ten minutes early, ready to finally see her in person. Ready to hold a conversation with her, even if only for a moment. But the ten minutes pass, then another ten and his leg starts to bounce under the table. She's never been late before, and Frankie checks his phone for a 20th time to make sure she hasn't texted to tell him she's had a change of plans. He decides to shoot her a text himself to make sure she didn't forget about their meeting.
Twenty more minutes with no response to his text and Frankie is back in his truck. He's already talked himself out of driving to her house and just knocking on the door several times. But as his truck rumbles to life and he exits the parking lot, he ends up turning left instead of right. Going to her house would be viewed as crossing some line in Frankie's eyes. He's never gone to a clients home without invitation before. Generally it's best to go about as if you don't even have that information, just to keep people from getting creeped out.
Frankie justifies his actions now by telling himself he just needs to see that she's okay. That her not showing up is abnormal and thus deserving of investigation.
When he pulls up to the curb across from her house, he notes the two cars in the driveway. His heart drops as he sees that one of them is her husband’s, parked neatly behind hers. Frankie knows she had told him she was kicking Andrew out, but his heart drops as he realizes maybe she had reconciled with him and he moved back. Frankie wonders if that's why she had been so distant lately.
He's about to just pull away when he notices the front door open and there she is. She has her arms full of boxes which she unceremoniously drops onto the sidewalk outside. She looks frazzled, but unharmed, Frankie takes a mental note. But she's yelling back into the house, her face red with anger.
Andrew shows himself in that moment, coming outside to scream something in her face. In the next moment, he's grabbing her roughly by the arm and trying to force her back into the house.
Frankie is out of his truck before he really has time to think. He's across the street and reaching them with quick, efficient steps in only a moment, which causes a pause in the fighting for a second. Frankie takes advantage of their confusion to gently pull her away from Andrew's loosened grip and moving her so that he is between the fighting couple.
Andrew, for his part, still has a look of surprise that has rendered him frozen in his spot. Whether that's from the way Frankie had barged into the situation or the pure anger that is radiating off Frankie's body, it's hard to say. But it gives Frankie the window he needs to pull back his fist and firmly plant it into Andrew's nose. Frankie hears the snap and feels the familiar give of a nose breaking under his knuckles.
“Get the fuck out of here,” he growls. “And I suggest not coming back around. Don't come near her, don't call her, don't even think about her.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Once Andrew has run off, finally taking the remainder of his belongings with him, you're left alone with an angry Frankie, his fists still clenched and his shoulders tense.
Honestly, he's sexy as hell and you definitely notice. Anybody would be blind not to, you think to yourself.
You usher him inside, through to your kitchen, and pour two glasses of whiskey, sliding one over to him.
“I'm sorry I barged in,” Frankie apologizes after he takes a large gulp of his drink. “I didn't hear from you today and wanted to make sure you were okay.”
“Shit, your money! I am so sorry.”
“It's fine, hermosa. I'm not worried about the money. I was worried about you.”
His declaration freezes both of you for a moment, before you lift your own cup to your lips and take a sizable sip.
“He was supposed to come by while I was out today, but he showed up early. I guess he's been trying to get ahold of me,” you finally break the silence.
“You guess?” Frankie repeats back.
“Well, I blocked his number cuz I got tired of his constant calls and texts. He thinks I'm being irrational and we should work this out. But I've also heard that he's been staying with his side piece ever since I kicked him out, so….”
Frankie shoots back the rest of his alcohol. “I can get you paperwork for a restraining order,” he offers.
You smile at that because of course Frankie would offer you more help. “I think you already did enough for me,” you reply.
Frankie's hand goes to the back of his neck and his head dips low, “I shouldn't have hit him. That's just gonna cause you more trouble.”
“Don't worry about that,” you chastise gently. “He got what was coming to him and he knows it. It's just that, you have done a lot for me in general these past few weeks. A lot more than I think I can pay you back for.” Speaking of which, you turn to your purse on the counter, digging through it to pull out the check written out to Frankie.
“Maybe you can pay me back with dinner,” Frankie aims for nonchalants.
It draws a breathy laugh from your throat. “It would take a lot of dinners to cover your fee.”
“Well, we could start with one and see where it goes from there.”

He hadn’t been there before, never set foot in the place that he was about to trust his whole world with. The bell above the door jingled as Taehyung entered, soft music playing from the speakers overhead. It was completely empty inside, not that he expected anything different. But the way the lights reflected off the chairs completely devoid of people in the waiting room gave him chills. Not that he would admit that.
However, if he strained his ears hard enough, Taehyung was just able to make out the sound of a dog barking somewhere in the back of the establishment. Which settled his nerves a little at having heard at least one sound of life.
Well, that, and the fact that Yeontan’s tail was wagging a mile a minute from where he stood sniffing the floor at his feet.
Taehyung wouldn’t normally drop Yeontan off with someone he didn’t know. Or at least not at a kennel that he’d never been to before. But with the news of a sudden change of Bangtan’s flight schedule, he didn’t have any other choice. Literally everyone he knew that could possibly watch over Yeontan was either too busy or unavailable for the time that he’d be gone.
And so, Taehyung had to turn to the internet. Or more specifically: Naver. And reviews, tons of reviews. He wouldn’t trust just anyone with Yeontan after all.
“Hello?” Taehyung’s deep baritone voice called out. A minute or two passed before the door leading what he assumed to be the back rooms swung open. And out stepped, well–
You.
“Hi!” He didn’t get to see your face at first since you were too busy looking down, trying to brush off the dog fur sticking to the front of your shirt. “I hope you haven’t been waiting long.”
Taehyung didn’t believe in love at first sight, didn’t think that you could fall completely head-over-hells for somebody that you didn’t even know just from a glance.
Until you looked up, at least.
His heart stuttered in his chest; breath caught in his throat from just meeting your friendly gaze. “I...”
You gave him a beat of silence to finish whatever it was that he was about to say, but he never did. And so, you shot him a look of concern. “Everything okay?”
“Yeah. I–” Taehyung cleared his throat from the sudden onslaught of nerves (where the hell did they come from?) and flashed you his trademarked boxy smile. Never had he been so glad to be out without a face mask on before in his life. “I called earlier. About Tannie.”
“Kim Taehyung?” The smile you sent him in return was blinding with what looked to be amusement flashing in your eyes. Along with recognition. So, you knew who he was then. “I remember. You seemed nervous on the phone.”
Taehyung threaded his fingers through his recently bleached hair with a chuckle. “I was a little. Since I’ve never been here before.”
“Only a little?” Oh yeah, that was definitely amusement.
“Yeah.” He nodded his head, momentarily distracted by Yeontan padding his way across the room to sniff at the laces of your shoes. “But I’m okay now.”
Tumblr media
It wasn’t the ring of an alarm that drew you out of sleep. No, it was the piercing siren of a ringtone that cut through your rem cycle and had your eyes shooting open.
Darkness encompassed your bedroom, which it should’ve, mind you, given how the clock next to your bed glowed a brilliant green 3:45 am. With the dim lights from the quiet street outside peeking through your curtains, you managed to blindly locate your ringing, vibrating phone before it could dance off the end table.
“‘lo?” Your vocal cords weren’t quite awake yet, which explained the groggy way it came out. And with eyes still shut and mind on the precipice of sleep, it was only the voice on the other end that drew you back into consciousness.
“Y/n?” A baritone so deep and smooth that you would’ve been able to recognize it anywhere greeted your ear. And had you bolting upright in bed so fast that your phone almost slipped from your hand. “Did I–”
“Taehyung?” Perhaps you’d sat up a little too fast, because the room spun a little. Or maybe that was just from how tired you were. Because what the hell was Kim Taehyung calling you for?
The sound of him clearing his throat rang clear. “Yeah, it’s me. Um, sorry, did I wake you up?”
“What’s up?” Completely bypassing his question, you scrubbed a hand down your face.
You knew that he had your cell phone number only because you’d given it to him. Weeks ago, back when he’d dropped Yeontan off at your kennel. You’d seen how worried he was over leaving the puppy somewhere he hadn’t been to before with a complete stranger. So, you’d given him your personal number to be able to get ahold of you anytime he wanted an update on Yeontan.
But why was he calling you now?
“Sorry,” Taehyung apologized again, the noises of various men in the background almost making his deep voice inaudible. But you were definitely able to hear the way he shushed whoever it was. “But it’s an emergency. I wouldn’t have woken you up otherwise.”
Now that had you snapping into full alert. You barely even knew the guy (even though you listened to his music pretty often), so the fact that he was calling you in an emergency pointed out how serious it was.
“Emergency? Are you okay? What’s going on? Should I call some--”
A deep chuckle cut you off. “Not that kind of emergency, Y/n.”
You blinked slowly in confusion.
“What?”
“Well, kind of.” Taehyung wasn’t making any sense. “Are you busy right now?”
“Now?” With your eyebrows scrunched together, you let your eyes wander around your dark room. “No?”
Another clearing of his throat. “I have a huge favor to ask. Bangtan was just invited to L.A. last minute and we have to get to the airport in an hour. I don’t have anyone to watch Tannie. Would you mind keeping an eye on him for a few days? I can pay you extra! I just...don’t have anyone else to ask. But if you can’t, it’s no worries I can–”
“Taehyung.” Now it was your turn to cut him off, already starting to slide out of bed. “It’s okay, I can watch him. Do you need me to come pick him up now?”
Taehyung’s huge sigh of relief came clear through the receiver. “Thank you. Seriously, Y/n. Don’t worry about coming to get him, I can drop him off. Just send me your address.”
A knock at your door approximately twenty minutes later had you jumping up from your living room couch. And with a deep breath, you ran your hands through your hair once more to make sure you were presentable. It wasn’t that you were trying to impress the man or anything, but he was a world renown celebrity. And--
Standing in your doorway.
Even through the face mask he had pulled up over his nose, his wide grin was visible. Paired with the way his eyes scrunched in the corners over the rim of his rounded glasses. Taehyung’s blond hair was free to fall across his forehead, unhindered by a hat or headband. But your attention wasn’t kept on his face for long before the wiggling ball of fluff in his arms caught your eye.
“Hey.”

hope is blood on broken glass
Fandom: Doctor Who
Summary: The Doctor found out what happened to a former companion after they left his care.
Warning: mention of torture.
The thing about being the companion of the Doctor is you can't stay with him forever. You would eventually have to leave the Doctor and the Tardis. You would have to try to put the pieces that is the life you have before the Doctor back on track.
The time the companion spend with the Doctor will change them for better or worse. They became changed by the experiences that sometimes they seek for a life that closely resembles those time with the Doctor. Like Martha who worked for UNIT, Jack for Torchwood, Sarah-Jane Smith who formed her own group, even Rose and the Metacrisis who also have a version of Torchwood in their world. They are all become a defender of Earth in their own way.
Some are able to somewhat returned to their mundane life and whether they were able to have a good life or not, well, the Doctor tried not to interfere or find out what happened to them. It wasn't necessary to add heartbreaks to see how they ended. But he always believe they will all be brilliant.
But you never felt that way.
UNIT has tons of file they collected about the Doctor and the companion he had over the years. They kept an eye on the companion from time to time.
(yn) (ln) was a companion of the Eleventh Doctor alongside Amy and Rory. But you left him after realizing you couldn't handle your unrequited feeling for him anymore. You felt less in his eyes, not as good as his fairy-tale princess, Amelia Pond, not as brave as Rory the Roman, not as brilliant as his beloved wife, River Song. The Doctor has his own family and that does not includes you, despite his assurance.
The last time you saw him, you had confessed your feeling for him despite knowing he didn't feel the same. For you, it might be the closure you needed to move on.
The Doctor couldn't say anything to you upon your confession and honestly you didn't expect him to. You had packed your suitcases, ready to leave the Tardis when he finally apologized to you. He hugged you and told you that you are brilliant and that you are one of his best friend. He didn't stop you from leaving, that hurts a little but you know it was for the best. The both of you could not handle the awkwardness after your confession. But he did tell you to call him should you need anything.
Life after the Doctor is as mundane as you thought it would be but that is your only option. And for a while, things just doesn't work as you wanted it too and you got so sad, so depressed. It was a year later, more or less, that life gradually less painful and more bearable. You finally got a stable job and the salary is good. You are okay.
On 14th December 2020, (yn) (ln) disappeared. UNIT case officer on the Doctor File assumed you were back with the Doctor until a missing person report is filed two weeks later. Even then, he still think you were out there, travelling with the Doctor. It won't be the first time a companion of the Doctor is reported missing by a family member as in the case of one Rose Tyler or in your case, your work friends.
Two years later, an FBI raid in New York revealed a strange basement on abandoned building where they found a bunch of people whom they assumed victims of human experiment considering their pitiful state.
The breaking news on the worldwide were talking about how these victims were actually the missing people from all over the world and they have been missing in various different years, ranging from two years up to seven years. Most of their cases has been dropped for the lack of trails of their whereabouts.
Martha Jones has worked for UNIT for a while now and has been privy to the Doctor File UNIT has collected over the years. She has read about your file and distinctly wondered what happened to you. She had asked Kate Steward once why she didn't contact the Doctor regarding your whereabouts.
Kate, too, has assumed the Doctor has lost you somewhere along the line of the adventure. After all, the adventures with him always consist of danger and there were many instant of the Doctor's companion files be labeled as missing or as to be assumed of the worst case scenario, dead. Also, she didn't make a habit of contacting the Doctor regarding a former companion, believing the Doctor has move on from them to new ones.
So, imagine their surprise, when a leaked list of the victim names from the FBI case suddenly showed up on the internet with your name among them.
Believing the case must be alien in nature, UNIT swoop in to take the case from the FBI much to their annoyance. And as Martha is charged to treat these victims, they really didn't know what to make of the case. Is it alien in nature or just plain old human cruelty?
These victims are all malnourished, you could practically see their bones through the skins. On their arms littered many scars from oh so many injections. Their wrists were marked with the heaviness of their shackles. All of their hairs has turned silver, presumably from the experiments. They weren't responding well with the new treatments and they weren't responsive.
You sat on your bed in your assigned room, staring blankly at the wall, unresponsive like the rest. That is until Martha mentioned the Doctor and you became hysterical, screaming and crying, scratching your skins till you drew blood. You were quickly sedated.
Martha and Kate started to consider to call on the Doctor, believing the Doctor might have some answers in regard of your reaction of him.
  "He would want to know!"
"Would he?" Kate asked. "Look at her."
"I am looking! She need the Doctor!"
  "Are you sure about that?"
"You really want to hide this from the oncoming storm?"
In the end, Kate relented to Martha's demand to call the Doctor.
Kate expected that they will get the Twelfth Doctor and his current companion, Clara Oswald, but instead a young woman in rainbow striped and a hoodie appeared before them, followed by three people they assumed her new companion.
"Martha Jones!" The Doctor smiled brightly as she went to give her a hug.
"Doctor." Martha is still eyeing the Doctor's current body. "What an upgrade."
"I know right?" She grinned. "Fam, this is Martha Jones, one of my best friends. And that is Kate Steward, UNIT leader." She introduced them. "They are Yaz, Ryan and Graham, my fam."
"Fam?" Martha raised an eyebrow teasingly.
"So what is the big emergency?" The Doctor asked.
  Immediately the mood turned sombre.
"(yn) (ln)?" The Doctor repeated in shock after Martha and Kate explained everything to her. She glanced at your medical file and winced at what she read there. "I want to see her."
"You will but we have to warn you, she might not react well to you, well, to the Doctor anyway." Kate said.
  The Doctor frowned.
  7777
The Doctor, upon reading your file, know she has to prepare herself to see you at your current condition. She tried to school her expression as she walked toward you hesitantly, knowing your fragile state. It broke her hearts to see one of her best friends ended up like this. But she has to talk to you, get some answers from you.
She bend her knees in front of you and spoke softly to you, "Hey, (yn)."
You didn't even look at her. You were still mostly sedated.
  "It's me, the Doctor."
That got a small reaction from you as you flinched harshly at the name.
The Doctor noticed this as she swallowed down hard. "I have regenerated. I am a woman now. You see?"
You glanced at her with a hint of curiosity but it was quickly extinguished.
"I'm sorry that this happened to you. Could you tell me what happened?" The Doctor asked gently.
  You didn't answer.
The Doctor sighed in disappointment but as she made to move away from you, you whispered hoarsely at her. Your voice is small and filled with tremor. She nearly couldn't catch what you says.
  "Where were you?"
  "I... What?"
"Where were you? I called you. I called you. I escaped and I called you. But you hung up. They dragged me back. You didn't come for me. Where were you? Why didn't you come for me? I waited. I waited. I waited. But you didn't come." You whispered in a broken tone. "Why didn't you come?"
The Doctor and everyone in the room froze at what you said.
"Doctor?" Yaz called out. "What is she talking about?"
"I...I have no idea..." The Doctor answered in a shaky tone. "I..."
And then she remembered. You did call her in her previous incarnation. He was with Clara on urgent mission when he got your call just as he was about to left the Tardis, bearing some equipment he need to save the day. He was surprised to get a call from you but he was at the times in an emergency and honestly the call was mostly static. He was busy and told you to call him back again later and hung up. He hung up. He never called you back, too busy with another emergencies.
The Doctor blanched at the realization. Her hearts shattered with the knowledge she play a part in your misery. She could have save you. He could have save you. But she didn't. He didn't. The Doctor has unknowingly abandoned you to your fate, has not even realized you were missing.
"I am sorry. I am so sorry." She whispered to you.
You glanced at her blankly as you shut down again.
  7777
"It wasn't your fault." Martha tried to convince the Doctor. "You couldn't have known."
The Doctor is feeling numb. She tried to focus on the rest of the victims but none of them in any condition or in enough of a coherent mind to talk. Between the sorrow and the guilt, she is furious at whoever did this to you. She vowed to find them and make them pay dearly for hurting you. You were still her friend, her companion and she has a duty of care. Whoever did this to you, they better be ready to face the oncoming storm, human or alien, they will all pay.
Martha tried to calm her down, sensing her anger at herself and at whoever did this. "What she need right now is you by her side, help her with her recovery, Doctor."
The Doctor know Martha is right but to be honest, she is afraid to face you. She doesn't know how you could ever forgive her for abandoning you in your time of need. She knew she could never forgive herself. River was right, the Doctor really couldn't handle the damage sometimes, no wonder River always hide her pain from her husband. The Doctor really is rubbish at this.
An alarm sounded surprising the Doctor from her lament. Martha is quick to deal with an emergency when seemingly two of the victims having seizures. When they were pronounced dead on the scene, the Doctor know she has to get to the bottom of this as soon as possible before the same thing happened to you. She will not lose you to this, not when she just found you again. And God help those who cause the Doctor to lose another companion for she will show them no mercy.
A/N: Just a short fic to pass the time. So this fic is also about Thirteenth Doctor having to deal with the 'mess' her previous incarnations unknowingly left behind. Originally I plan to make this longer with reader in a process of recovery but died halfway after reconcile with the Doctor but I just don't have the patience to write it hence I just left it at that.

Tis the Damn Season
Chapter Five- Santa Baby
Hello, I took a couple weeks, because life can be busy, and mine is changing, but here is a little 🎁!
Thanks to @dirtystyles, she’s the real gift!
"What are you wearing?"
"I'm sorry, but what?"
It was all she could think to say. Emma hadn't heard from Harry in months. In August he had sent her a random picture of him in a collar with long hair. She knew he had chopped his hair months ago, it had caused an internet flurry and was one of the few times he'd emerged from hibernation. She might be miffed that his year-off apparently didn't include visiting her. Not that she had asked him to.
She'd never ask.
Emma might also be incredibly miffed that he had cut off his glorious hair. She'd rocked herself to sleep many a night thinking of the way it felt trailing ver her chest, then stomach, in the crevice of her thigh. The crunch and silk of it between her fingers when she got it between her fingers at the end of that path or when he was rocking her to sleep.
Thinking about his hair usually made her hot for him, and thinking of it gone made her nostalgic, and a little mad. And that was when the memory was fresh and jot months old.
In any case, she wasn't feeling very soft for him, and that was a sexy question. She definitely wasn't feeling wet for him.
She had just walked out of class on a freezing cold day before she was ready for it to be this chilly, and she had to ride her bike. Her class was on individual contribution to global crises. Emma was the first to point out that individuals were not the true climate change culprits, but every bit helped. She just wished she'd ridden one of the clean energy buses today. Today sucked.
"Your teeth are chattering Emma, you outside?" she made an affirmative sound and he wisely knew better than to wait for an answer after that. He'd set up this mood, after all. "Sorry, came out wrong, it was meant to be funny." Harry had an apology in his voice. It was like the first knead of a dough, but he had a long way to go. "Anyway, what I meant is, I'm Christmas shopping, and I was thinking about what you might like, was gonna get you a jumper, and I think I have an idea of your style, but wanted a little guidance, I'd hate to buy you something and have you hate it—"
"Harry, take a breath!" She could feel that smile he had a way of bringing to her lips, despite herself. She really wanted to be upset with him, but seemed he'd proved himself, or distracted her at least.
Emma can't quite get a full grasp on why she's irritated with the phone call with him.  She's not sure what she expected. They never had a conversation about it, about how they are just a little holiday fling. She's never even had a summer fling, so she doesn't know the rules but she assumes that they are not supposed to repeat year on year. Least not without some progress or a defining conversation where they decided on not a relationship. He was confusing. He'd been so happy to have a bit of extra time with her, she'd thought he might be in touch more, with his seemingly abundant free time. She's wanted him to be in touch more. But he hadn't.
She'd heard from him less than ever.
And now he was buying her gifts and making her smile. Damn him.
"I'm breathing, promise." He sighed. "I just could tell I'd pissed you off, and I don't want to. I've been thinking about Christmas, and well, I'm excited."
"I'm excited too. Holidays are exciting." Emma is not going to read into that. He's excited to be with his family. He's Christmas shopping for everyone. This is not about her, them.
There is no them.
There is no them, except between Christmas Eve and New Years. And that is purely physical.
These are the things she repeated to herself when she was sad, waiting for him to call or text. Sad from how he dragged himself from their pub bed saying he'd miss her and be in touch and then wasn't. His sweet nothings were like when people signed your yearbook K.I.T. She knew you weren't supposed to take those yearbook signings seriously, but he'd said it, not written it below some picture of him. That counted more, right? Than a picture? Those were cheap, especially of him; there were pictures of him everywhere, Emma was also upset that none of them looked like the real life him. Just a shade of his actual beauty.
She wanted to see him now. She missed him though she shouldn't.
Just over a month now until Christmas. And a busy one at that. She had so much data to sift through from the summer and a presentation she was basing on it was her culminating project. It would also make an early start on her field work come summer. Those things, academic, important things were her focused her life's work. Not delicious Harry Styles and his sweet holiday nothings.
"Yes, especially when I get my favorite for Christmas." Harry said bringing her back to the call they were on.
The meaning behind those words were a bit harder to ignore. All she could get out was "Oh?" Then she rolled her eyes at herself and cleared her throat and said, "Your mum's Christmas cake?"
He chuckled. "I am fond of that cake, I think I put on two stone last year from how much I ate. And she sent me home with one!"
Emma almost called bullshit on that. He'd expended all those calories, she'd been the apparatus.
She took a breath to speak, and he cut her off. "I don't mean the cake, anyway, I mean you: you're my favorite thing to have at Christmas. The best gift."
What was she supposed to say to that? Another eloquent oh? Instead she said, "Your favorite thing?" Playful offense on the word thing.
"Oh hush." He laughed. "You're my favorite, Emma. In case you want to be obtuse and miss my point. I'm very excited to see you."
She breathed in. All she could manage to reply with was "Me too."
She meant it, but as they got off the phone after setting up their usual tryst and a special meeting before the party to exchange gifts, she couldn't help but wonder if he did. If what he said was true, why the radio silence?
The gift on her lap on the train was large and ostentatious. She didn't have a ton of money for the it, student life, but her recipient was a millionaire, so she'd gone all out on the wrapping paper.
It was a frog in a Christmas hat, the motif on the paper. Emma remembered when she and Gemma had called Harry "frog boy" and he'd been mortified. But it had also found its way into their private rooms. Not when he was inside her, that would be weird, but when he looked up at her and grinned, all dimples and no teeth from where he likes to make her stomach a pillow.
How "Froggy" had become a term of endearment, she didn't know. The moment she'd seen the cute froggy in his holiday rig on the overpriced paper, she had stopped what she was doing, parked her bike with no lock, and popped in the shop.
She then had to find something to put in the paper. He'd been shopping for her this year, in October, and he'd said he was at the shop and she'd seen pictures of him hauling bags out of Gucci. That was not intimidating at all.
They had exchanged small things in years past. Harry had started it, he'd given a cookbook a friend recommended the year she went vegan. Then the next year he'd donated in her name to a clean air initiative. She'd just picked up odds and ends she thought he'd like, like a 100% recycled journal one year and a glass bottle set for his gym runs the next.
This year, she'd racked her brain, but she'd eventually found the perfect gift to fill her frog paper. She was getting better at this. He was entirely too good at it, and he was a quick learner. She'd been underwhelmed with the flowers he sent the first year and had explained that cut flowers made her sad. It seemed a waste to kill something for its fleeting beauty. Harry had nodded thoughtfully.
The next flower he sent was a gorgeous orchid, it arrived once she was back in Amsterdam and came with instructions. That first orchid had started a trend and between his gifts and her own new interest, her flat was looking very jungle esque.
Emma was always very excited to see him, but this year, after his call, there was more anticipation and preparation. If he was going to be ready for her, she would be ready for him.
She got a fresh haircut and trimmed her bush. The thrift store was kind to her, and her new Christmas jumper was perhaps less ugly than flattering, but that was ok with her. She particularly liked the way it lay over the skirt she'd planned to wear to the Twist's annual todo.
Her flights had been uneventful and her mother was elated and doting. Emma found it much more tolerable this year. Maybe she was just in the spirit, or maybe she'd been away from the village and her family long enough to actually miss them.
She definitely missed Harry.
He, predictably, had texted that his flight was delayed and he was trying to make arrangements, but he might not even make it in time for the party.
"I'm doing everything in my power to get there tonight. If I can't make my mother's party, but arrive tonight, can we meet? I'll call the inn."
"Yes." Was all she texted back. She found she was mourning their kiss beneath the mistletoe, and that he might miss her outfit. But Harry's power was considerable, and she had no doubt he would be at the Boar's Head in time to see what she planned to wear under the sweater.
Those pieces, she felt a twinge guilty about. They were pricey and definitely not second hand. Used pants were where she drew the line.
People, not Emma, bemoaned Harry's absence when those who still lived local or were able to travel home gathered for toast. Emma knew she wasn't the only one who came home partially to see Harry. It was why she was able to fly under Gem's radar, hopefully.
Gemma's only comment was, "He'll be here when he can." When Eloise asked where Harry was. She asked every year, it annoyed Gem, and took some of the heat off Emma. Eloise was so obvious, Gemma could direct some of her protective big sister vibes that way.
The night was winding down and Emma's third glass of champagne could use topping up. She'd just sidled into the kitchen to pop another bottle when a pair of arms came around her from behind.
She'd have dropped the bottle too if Harry had not pulled the most uncharacteristicly smooth and agile catch he'd ever made, whilst dipping her for a swoon worthy kiss.
"Harry!" Emma gasped, "What are you doing?" Her Hand went to find his hair, and she was sad to find it until she found his sharp, bare jaw instead. It cut through her nostalgia and she was able to appreciate his face on a new way. His lips.
"Getting my midnight kiss!"
"It's not New Year's." It was better, like new year's and her birthday combined, that kiss.
"Not yet!" He righted her but stayed wrapped around her while she popped the bottle. She poured him a glass too and had to refrain from holding his hand when she pulled him into the living room after they toasted.
He stole a kiss before they went to join the others.
It looked like his arrival was going to renew the party spirit, but he begged off as tired, and disappeared to his room by 1:30.
Emma wasn't sure what to do, or where to go, so she just slipped out the back at 2:00 when a car nearly gave her heart palpitations by pulling up right in front of her. The door popped open and Harry stuck his head out. "Cmon, it's our getaway car!"
She couldn't help but shake her head. "You disappeared and I didn't know what you wanted to do."
"Well, you obviously!" He giggled, high off the champagne and his conniving. "C'mon! We don't have that long. I wanna do Christmas morning with you!"
"It's still nighttime." Emma pointed out.
"Don't worry, we'll find something to do until the sun comes up." He looked up at her through his lashes and she couldn't help but bite her lips.
"What's the rush, Styles?" Emma asked as she climbed into the car. The driver seemed unconcerned and headed down the familiar lanes of a familiar place.
"No rush, I'm just excited and have to be back so I can sneak in for Christmas brunch."
"Oh." She knew that, it wasn't the first time.
"Not 'oh,' I want to give you your gifts on actual Christmas."
"Are you Santa Claus?" She teased as he pulled her into his chest.
"If that's what you're into? I'll be whoever you want me to be."
"Then just be you." She said with painful earnestness before she could stop herself.
Harry looked down at her in the cradle of his armpit and put his forehead to hers and gave her an Eskimo kiss. "As long as you're you."
Emma melted and if she hadn't been so tired and a little too drunk on bubbly she wouldn't have fallen asleep on the way to the Boar's Head.
"Baby," Harry whispered into her hair. "Wake up, we're here."
"I can't believe I fell asleep that fast."
"It's my voice, I've been told it has a sedative power."
"Sleepy is not usually how your voice makes me feel." What truth serum had she taken tonight?
"Well, I'll have to talk a lot to keep you up then. Hope you're refreshed after your little nap."
She was, and he kept her up but by 5:00, even his deep voice and other powers of persuasion couldn't keep her leaden lids open.
"Baby! Emma." Harry was kissing her awake and holding out a shirt for her slip on while slipping socks up her calves. "Present time."
"Ok, Santa baby." She yawned and let him drag her into the room where she had completely missed the tiny Charlie Brown tree in the corner. "Oh! You went all out." She looked at him in awe when she noticed the multicolored packages under the tree. "I only got you one thing," she was rubbing sleep out of her eyes and too tired to bullshit. "I'm feeling inadequate."
"Nah, I've heard it's better to give than receive."
"That's not what you said a couple hours ago."
"I'll give gifts if you give head." They both scrunched their brows. "Scratch the part where I made it sound like you were my sugar baby."
"Or a prostitute."She raised an arch brow.
"Nah, I couldn't afford you." He didn't even smirk.
So she responded, "I think you think that's a compliment."
He snort laughed and she couldn't help but smile with him. "I mean, you do it well enough to be paid for it, but by the face you're making I better quit talking and get to the spoiling to get myself out of trouble. Go on, open a present."
"Any order you envisioned."
"Um? No, the one where order matters I have a plan for."
"This isn't all?"
"This is most." He nodded and she felt a warm place under her breast that only ignited when he was being domestic.
Back in her old room in her childhood home, or in her flat in Amsterdam, she'd occasionally puzzle over these moments. They felt nothing short of boyfriendy, and she loved it. When she thought back on them, especially in the cold January days, they kept her warm and made her feel special. She hadn't ever felt that warm flush in her chest with anybody but Harry. She'd kind of avoided the feeling, usually.
By July, after long periods of silence where he was running around the world while she endeavored to save it, the glow of those days paled in the midnight sun. When he acted like a boyfriend, like they were more than a hookup and then ignored her, it hurt. When she was well into her yearly drought, and all she had were those shooting stars to wish upon, the sweeter he was, the more rich the ache, the aftertaste saccharine.
Emma could tell, his gifts and the joy he seemed to take in giving them would warm her to the backbone through January, and make her teeth hurt by July.
And still she couldn't convince herself to stop, to ask, to protect herself. She couldn't even detach a little, she was so excited about the little stuffed animal she had for him in return.
"Harry, this is beautiful!" She unfolded a gorgeous sweater dress of a fine wool knit that screamed warm.
"Yeah?" He smiled, pleaded with the praise and himself. "I was at Gucci, and I was gonna get you some stuff there, but they just didn't feel like you, so I started doing some research on sustainable brands and I found this one, and another. This one is good for day to day, it's called Ever Lane, and the next, Bode, it's great for retro pieces. Open the next one."
She'd been staring at him. He was going to buy her Gucci? This was better, but that seemed like a pretty penny to spend on your holiday hook up. She knew money wasn't really an object for him. He always paid for the hotel on their rendezvous and she never brought it up. It was always just taken care of. She wasn't a starving student, but she also wasn't an international pop star. These gifts felt big, bigger than what they were.
He liked to be generous. But, it felt like these gifts, the 5 packages and one coming later were a statement in a language she didn't understand.
"Harry, this is too much." Was all she could say. He didn't respond with words, just gave her a look and shrugged his shoulders like, 'what else am I supposed to do with it'.
Emma knew from Gemma that Harry took care of them, their vehicles and his mum's house and whatever they mentioned they wanted or he thought they'd like.
Gemma had said last year, when she was thrilling over her Christmas gifts, "It's the one time of year I let him get away with it. The rest of the time I've gotten to where I don't mention things I like or want, because they show up on my doorstep, you know?"
Emma had nodded even though she didn't know, but she did now. He was so thoughtful it hurt, but the implications troubled her.
"Open the next one. I'm really excited for it."
It was a beautiful jacket, mustard, her favorite color, and matching mittens.
"For when you want to ride your bike, but it's chilly. They're very warm." He remembered she was cold on her bike that day.
Emma knew he remembered her text after the 'what are you wearing' conversation about being grumpy because she had chosen to ride her bike but it was too cold. His big beating heart could melt snow.
She swallowed down the sentiments clogging her throat along with her worries. Should she ask? She'd have too, eventually. This was feeling more serious than it should be, like he wanted to call her babe for more than a weekend, like he wanted her to stay, with him.
It's what she wanted, in some part of her, but was completely out of the question. He had a big international life, and she had her own global ambition.
The rest was wrapped donation cards to causes she'd worked for or even mentioned. The last gift was a small box, and when she opened it, she cried, then laughed and handed him his box.
"What?" He said, "I can't tell if you're happy or sad about that gift?" He worries his bottom lip.
It was another frog, just like the one she'd picked as the tangible gift when she'd made the donation in his name.
Emma just shrugged and wiped her eyes. "Open it."
His bursting balloon laugh inflated her merry heart. "Did we really do the exact same thing?" His face had an odd look she could only call tender.
"Same wavelength, me and you." He was misty like she had been a moment ago. He leaned forward and kissed her. Then picked up their stuffed frogs and made them kiss like he was a small child playing dolls. "I almost don't want to separate them."
"Are we still talking about the frogs?" She laughed, because she had a feeling they weren't.
He shrugged and his phone began to buzz. "Can I take a rain check on answering that question? If I don't leave right now, they will know I stayed out all night on Christmas Eve, and there will be questions. I don't think we are quite ready to explain what we are." He chose that moment to yawn like a lion in the late afternoon after a long day of lounging and got up to leave.
Emma still had questions. He'd said not quite ready to explain what they were doing. Emma wasn't even sure what they were doing. Were they going to tell people, tell Gemma? Tell them what? That they were together? Wanted to be together? Belonged together. The frogs too, did the frogs belong together?
He was dressed by the time she was done freaking out. He looked tired, but exhilarated, like he'd spent a night getting everything he wanted and a few things he didn't know he needed. "Bye doll," he kissed her, right on the mouth, affectionately and with only a trace of the heat the December air lacked. "I'll see you tomorrow night. Merry Christmas! I wanna see you in the sweater," he was walking through the door. "Oh, and the other thing?"
"Other thing?" She looked at him confused.
He pointed underneath the tree. "Have another look."
Emma blushed when she opened the lingerie. She wondered if he'd had to check her pants and bras for sizes or if he just knew the shape of her well enough that he'd guessed accurately.
They looked really good.
She needed to be getting home as well. There would be no getting out of it, she needed an excuse for rolling in just in time for Christmas brunch, her parents were notorious early risers, as was she. Her plan was to tell them she'd just made too merry the night before and slept on the couch at the Twist's. It was truth adjacent. It was the best she could come up with, her head was full of Harry and she couldn't think.
Her Christmas passed in a blur of food and wine and wrapping paper. Harry had sent her a picture of him with a bow on his head and asked her if she felt spoiled enough or needed him to wear the bow the next day.
She'd told him to wear it. And only it.
She'd not expected him to follow directions both precisely and with some creative license.
"Do you really think your cock is a gift?" She tried to mock him, while he stood proudly, hips first in their room at the Boat's Head.
"Well, I intend to give it to you!" He raised his eyebrows and stalked toward her. "I like the sweater. Looks amazing, but? Probably better here." He swept it over her head and deposited it on the floor.
"That was atrocious!" She giggled, but felt no anxiety unlike the last day or so.
"Yeah, maybe, but I needed to see if you'd worn my other gift."
"I thought it was my gift."
"For both of us, I'd argue." He winked.
"You wink like a drunk pirate." She couldn't help but smile at him. His silly banter had completely removed the nerves she should be feeling, standing in front of him in a Santa red bra, panties, garter belt, and stockings. She'd sourced the Santa hat herself and the black heels were hers.
"I'm feeling drunk seeing you in this." His hands were running over the satin on her hips and the lace at her waist, then the bare flesh of her ass. "I think I even lied to myself. This was definitely my present." The last word was said against her lips and his big hands slid down the globes of her backside to between her thighs, hoisting her onto his hips. The trail his thumbs left had her shivering.
The bed rose up to meet her. Harry hovered over her before standing and staring.
"Are we on pause?" She was panting and really hoping they were not stopping let alone slowing.
He opened his hands like a director, "I'm just trying to remember this to keep me warm all year." He ran his hands from her toes to her curled hair, she'd gone all out, then back down. His face was full of anticipation and a hesitation she'd never seen when she was this bare, not even the first time when he was flush on bravado and international acclaim.
"What is it?" She started to sit up.
He groaned. "Wow, that move did great things for your chest."
Emma could only laugh. He was acting like he'd never seen a naked woman, when he'd probably seen more than his fair share, and had definitely seen her before.
"You're acting like you've never seen me before."
"It's always like the first time. You're overwhelming."
"I'm overwhelming?" She wanted to laugh, she saw him as Harry, at first her friend's brother, then the cute boy with the big career she'd hooked up with, then her favorite holiday surprise, and now she couldn't define exactly what he was to her, mostly Harry? Who she missed all year and cherished for a week at a time in person, a deeply in her heart the rest of the time. She remained aware, however, of who he was, at large.
"Absolutely, I can barely take you. Can't believe I get to have you." What did she say to that? She only nodded, it was mutual. "Listen," he continued, "Can I take a picture of you. I'll keep your face out of it."
She thought for a moment, thrilled that he wanted to save this memory, to relive this moment until they met again. She didn't have any pictures of him, and thought there were so many online, none of them were really of him. "Yeah, go on Harry."
Maybe she should take one back. Save the neck down one place and the neck up as her wallpaper, she could get away with it. She saw classmates with him as their Home Screen. Her plans kept the nerves at bay while he got his set up ready.
He posed a leg, had her lay back, and then sit up. He took about 5 pictures on his phone, then three Polaroids, and by then she was getting into it. She was moving in ways that made her feel sexy and he was getting antsy.
"I'll show you, so you can approve, after." He discarded the phone and pulled his jumper over his head before crawling up the bed and over her.
"I trust you Harry. It's fine."
She wasn't sure what it was about those words, but he grew, thicker between her thighs and larger in her presence before he was kissing her bra off and asking if he could leave the stockings and shoes on.
"'Mmmhmmm." Emma moaned from her perch on the pillows looking down watching him pull her panties free and reattaching her stockings. "Damn." He kissed both places and flipped her over to skate his lips up her thighs and ass and back. Her hair was over her face while he kissed her neck and rutted into her with his jeans still on. She grabbed a handful of his glorious hair and kissed him over her shoulder. "Like this?" She asked.
"Mmhmmm." He echoed and she felt him kicking his jeggings free and sliding on the condom. She was flat on the mattress and unsure if he wanted her to push back on her knees. She didn't need to think about it long, he hoisted her up, and pressed a gentle hand between her shoulder blades so her body arched like a slide. His fingers climbed up to cascade down her backbone in an echo of the ride he was about to take down. He was right there, hovering, and Emma pushed back, but the whine in her voice was the more obvious tell.
"Baby, I need you."
"I need you, so much. Miss you when I'm gone."
She missed him when she was gone too. He slid his head in and waited. Emma wasn't really in control of the clenching this caused and it made Harry lose his grip on his. The smack of his hips against her thighs reverberated off the borrowed walls they considered their own.
He stroked her inside out and commented on the grip of her onto his dick. "It's like you don't want to let me go," he whispered into her ear.
Emma turned her head and breathed, "I don't want to." The kiss broke his rhythm and lingered until her clenching started over, again. How was she so close so soon?
"No, no, no." She whined when he pulled out.
"Shhhh, I've got you." He knew she was onto something, they'd become practiced hands at each other's pleasure.
He flipped her over and smoothed her hair back, bracketing her face between his hands like an aside he needed to voice right at that moment. "I just want to see you."
He went back in with ease, and with anybody else she might be ashamed for how embarrassingly wet she was, for the squelch. "God! Harry!" Her thighs came up to his hips and he hitched one over his elbow and open, then lay a good portion of his weight onto her. It was just the right side of too much. Just like all of him.
"Let me find it again, that high you were chasing?"
She was nodding, babbling. He picked up the rhythm from before and added a tiny rut at the end to the swelling of her clit. She was back on the trail to the summit quickly. It had been good, if fumbling, from night one. By this gift season, it was like he had installed all of her buttons personally and could push her to the edge at will. Her eyes were closed and she was concentrating hard on the oasis just beyond her horizon.
"Baby," he whispered, his breath soft and scented like her lip balm. "Open your eyes." He was just over her and he wrapped her open thigh back and around his knee. "Watch me," he made a c with his body so she could watch the goings on and feel them too.
"Oh, fuck."
"I love your filthy mouth. When you get going. Demure driven Emma on the brink has a dirty dirty mouth."
She'd narrow her eyes at him if she could bear to look away from his cock.
"Baby!" She gasped.
"Hold it, stay, just a little longer." He kissed her and then compelled her eyes to his. "I'll come with you."
His nose touched hers at just the tip and he rocked her and watched as she trembled and held off and pleaded. "Now, now, come now." He grit his teeth in preparation, but he needn't have worried, the minute he commanded it, she obeyed and the body roll of sensation ran from the roots of her hair to the bends of her knees.
He seized and his head fell back, but as soon as he was in command of himself again, his eyes were back on hers. "I love...," he gasped and her mind raced over what the hell he might say. What she wanted to gasp back. It was a bit of a comedown as opposed to a denouement when he filled in, "...having you for Christmas."
He buried his face in her neck and breathed into the nooks and crannies she thought she had kept safe from him.
Which was why it hurt so much when she had to tell him no.
His final gift, complete with an aching grin, had been an open ended ticket. "So you can come to me, with me, on tour."
She knew her brow knotted up like a bundle of discarded yarn. That wasn't the agreement. And she couldn't, couldn't even allow herself to want it. She had her PhD program looming. There was no time to go anywhere this fall.
"Harry, you know I can't."
He looked crestfallen, like this was new information and not why they only got these stolen snowbound days once a year. "Can't or won't?" He was verging on angry and it would piss her off if her heart wasn't so close to fissuring.
Honesty was her only policy, "Both." She handed the ticket back to him.
It ruined their night, the movie they tried to distract themselves with, the goodbye sex they didn't have.
He wasn't even there when she woke up the next morning.
But the tickets were on his pillow with a small note, "Change your mind, please. I'll be seeing you. H."

Pariston x Reader x Wing part 6
Contains adulterous smut.
When your phone buzzed a few weeks later, you were more than a little surprised to see it was a text from Wing.  A simple, one sentence message.
“Are you ok?”
You smiled ruefully at the message.  How funny it was to receive such a message now, when you were decidedly not okay.  Since you stopped meeting Wing for coffee, things had returned to the status quo: Pariston was staying at his office until 3 am, and you stayed home waiting for his return.  No, you weren’t okay.
“I’m fine.” You winced as you sent the message; lying to Wing, even over text, seemed wrong somehow.
“Really?”
You considered telling him the truth, but decided against it.
“Yeah.  Just a little lonely.”
It took Wing a few minutes to reply.
“Do you want to meet up again?”
You typed out “No, we shouldn’t,” but deleted it before you could send. Would it really be so bad to meet him again?
“Sure.”
**
As it turned out, meeting Wing for dinner was almost exactly the same as meeting him for coffee; calming, fun, and oddly comforting.  You split the check, exchanged pleasantries, and stood to leave.  When faced with the prospect of going home, you were overcome by the desire to do anything but that.
“Wing?”
“Yeah?”
“I don’t want to go home yet.’
Wing laughed.  “____, it’s almost nine o’clock!”
“So?”
“Well, shouldn’t you be getting home?”
You shrugged.  “Nothing to go home to.”
“Your husband?”
You shook your head.  “He’s going to be out late tonight.”  You let out a long, shuddering sigh and put on your coat.  “He’s going to be out all night with his secretary.”  You spat out the last word so vehemently that Wing looked taken aback.  When you saw how flustered he looked, you immediately began to apologize.  “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have--”
Wing cut you off.  “It’s fine.” He buttoned up his coat.  “Tell you what, if you want, you can come back to my place.  I don’t live far.”
You perked up.  “Yeah?”
“Sure, for a bit.  But I must warn you,” he grinned, “I have a ton of exams to mark by Monday, so I probably won’t be much fun.”
You grinned back.  “Is there any way I can help?”
“I’ll give you the answer key.”
***
It was nearly eleven-thirty when you finished marking the exams.  “My god, Wing, how many students do you have?”
“Way too many.  The schools are overcrowded and underfunded.”  He stretched and cracked his neck as he gathered up all the papers.  “Thanks for helping me out.”  He smiled at you, but his smile soon faded when he looked at the clock.  “Oh god is it really that late?  ____ I’m so sorry I should never have kept you this long.  I’ll drive you home, just let me--”
“It’s okay,” you said, offering him a reassuring smile.  “I have nowhere to be.”
“But--”
“Really.”  Your smile faltered.  “It’s not like I’d be missed.”  Your voice shook, but you held back tears.  You wouldn’t cry.  As Pariston said, you looked ugly when you cried.
“____,” Wing turned to you, concern written all over his face, “what is it?”
You couldn’t hold back anymore; you crumbled under his worried gaze, and told him everything.  You told him about Pariston’s lies, his constant infidelity, all of his nitpicking.  When you finished speaking, Wing was completely silent.  Mistaking his silence for disapproval, you hastily apologized.  “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have--”
“He really says those things to you?”  Wing’s voice was low and quiet, barely above a whisper.
Slowly, shakily you nodded.  “Yeah.”
“You don’t deserve that.”
What came over you then, you would never know, but you kissed him.  Wing drew back immediately.
“What are you doing?”
“I--”
“____, you can’t do this.”
“But--” your cheeks burned with embarrassment and shame.  “I-I’m sorry.”
Wing ran his fingers through his hair, his cheeks pink.  “No, it’s okay, it’s just…you can’t… we can’t.”
You opened your mouth to speak, but Wing cut you off.
“You’re upset and vulnerable now, ____.  You don’t know what you’re doing.  It wouldn’t be right--”
You kissed him again, harder this time.  More earnestly.  Wing froze for a moment before finally, finally, melting into the kiss.  Into you.
When he finally pulled back, he looked at the floor.  “___, we shouldn’t.  We… we....”
“Please.”  You looked at him pleadingly.  When he didn’t respond, you sighed.  “I should go..  I’m sorry, I--”
Wing kissed you then, wrapping his arms around you and drawing you flush against him. The kiss was deep, slow and sensual; his tongue ran over your lower lip.  When he drew back, he gave you a searching look.
“You want this?”
You nodded up at him.  “Yes.”  More than anything.
That was all it took.  Suddenly Wing was on you, his hands running over your body, his lips on your neck.
You let out a pleased sigh, and Wing’s hand’s came to rest on your hips.  “Is this okay?” he asked again, his voice much huskier than before.
“Uh-huh.”
Wing pressed a soft kiss on your lips before moving to kiss your neck again.  His hand slid to cup your ass and gave a gentle squeeze.  “Oh god,” he gasped out against your neck, “I’ve wanted this for so long.”
Heat bloomed in your chest. You moaned softly at his words and tilted your head to give him better access to your neck.  Slowly, tentatively, you slipped a hand between your bodies to palm him through his pants, delighting in the way he hissed against your skin.
“____,” he groaned, rocking his hips against your hand, “I… I want…”  His hands splayed against the curve of your ass and squeezed again.
“I can tell,” you whispered, cheekily pressing against his stiffening cock. You smiled up at him.  “Me too.”
Wing drew back again, taking off his glasses and setting them on the kitchen table.  “Do you want to…” he faltered, cheeks reddening further as he swallowed.  “Bedroom’s that way.”
You grinned and grabbed his hand.  “Lead the way.”
Wing nodded and walked in the direction of the bedroom, stumbling over his own feet in his haste.  You giggled as he righted himself.  “Eager?”
“You have no idea.”  He opened the bedroom door and led you inside, already kissing you again.  His hands rose to lightly cup your breasts through your blouse; you placed your hands over his to increase the pressure.  Wing took the hint and began to palm your breasts firmly, his fingers brushing over your nipples.
You arched into him, an appreciative sigh escaping your lips.
Wing refocused his attention and pressed open-mouthed kisses to your lips.  His hands moved from your breasts to the buttons of your blouse, and he looked at you hesitantly before beginning to unbutton it.
You stifled a giggle when he cursed about a particularly difficult button, and reached down to help him.  You tugged insistently at his waistband, eager to get him out of his clothes and onto the bed.  Wing drew back and quickly began unbuttoning his own shirt.  He only got halfway down before opting to pull it over his head, getting momentarily stuck in the process.  You quickly undressed yourself as he removed his pants and tugged off his socks.
“Oh god ___,” Wing murmured as he kissed you again, “you’re gorgeous.”
“You’re not so bad yourself,” you smiled against his lips, suddenly aware that he was backing you towards the bed.  You tumbled backwards, taking Wing with you. He quickly repositioned himself on top of you, leaning down to gently kiss the skin below your ear and drawing out another appreciative sigh.
You reached up to run your fingers through his hair, lightly raking your fingernails across his scalp.
Wing’s tongue dragged lazily against the outer shell of your ear.  “___,” he rasped quietly, “I’m going to fuck you so hard.”
A shiver ran down your spine at his uncharacteristic vulgarity, and you let out a moan when he reached down between your bodies to rub your clit.  “Ah!” you cried out, feeling your core heating up again. With a deep hum, Wing rocked back to kneel between your legs, swiping his thumb over your clit while pressing his fingers against your opening.  He stroked your slit, savoring your wetness before sliding his fingers into you.  His eyes met yours apologetically when you gasped.
“You okay?”
You nodded frantically.  “Yeah.  Keep going.”
Slowly, Wing began to pump his fingers in and out of you, his eyes locked on yours, watching the way your face contorted with pleasure.  He smiled in satisfaction when you began to buck against him; he gave you a few more pumps before withdrawing and falling back on top of you, caging you in with his arms.  He kissed you urgently, biting softly at your lower lip.
You whined when he drew back again, this time to pull open the drawer of his bedside table to pull out a condom.  He glanced apologetically at you as he tore open the packet and began to roll the condom onto his fully-hard cock.  “Just a sec.”
With the condom fully on, Wing settled back between your legs, and positioned himself at your opening.  He glanced at you once more as if to ask if you were sure you wanted this.  You smiled up at him encouragingly; with a soft sigh, Wing leaned down to kiss you as he pushed inside.
You moaned lightly when he was fully hilted inside you and wrapped your legs around his slender waist.  Wing stayed still for a moment, letting you adjust, before setting a slow, gentle pace.  Your hips collided as his thrusts began to quicken; Wing dipped down to nibble at your neck, coaxing soft sighs and moans from you.  As you drew him closer with your legs, it flitted across your mind how alien this was, being taken so sweetly.  A throaty moan of your name snapped you back into the moment.
You felt a sweet tautness in your abdomen; you were getting close, which you tried to tell Wing by digging your heels into his ass and drawing him deeper.  Wing seemed to understand your need, and he began to thrust harder and faster into your tight heat.  Needy hands palmed at your breasts, fingers coaxing your nipples hard again.  A deep groan from Wing told you that he was close too; you could hear him murmuring in your ear just how good you felt, how warm and tight you were.
It took one well-timed thrust to snap the tight coil of pleasure in your core; your orgasm hit you at full force.  The clenching of your cunt almost drew out Wing’s own release, but he continued to fuck you as you came undone around him.  A moan of overstimulation devolved into a soft whimper when Wing’s mouth latched over your nipple.  You arched your back, your nerve endings ablaze, and threaded your fingers in his hair.  A soft tug of his hair drew Wing’s attention back to your lips, and he kissed you hard as his pace grew irregular.
You dug your nails into his back, eager to bring him to release too.  With a deep moan of your name and a soft gasp, Wing reached his own orgasm, his hips stuttering against yours as he abandoned all conscious thought and thrust wildly into you.
Wing withdrew and collapsed on top of you.  You cupped his face and brought him into a lazy kiss, content to lie there with him on top of your forever.  Wing broke the contented silence by sitting up and heading to the bathroom to discard the condom, returning soon after.  Lying back down next to you, he gathered you up in his arms and pressed a soft kiss to the top of your head.
You spoke first.  “What time is it?”
“Dunno.”  Wing reached over to grab his discarded pants and pulled his phone out of the pocked.  “Almost one.”
“Shit.”  You sat up, running a hand through your messy hair.  “I have to get back home.”
Wing nodded in sad understanding.  “I’ll drive you.”

If you wanna be added to the list lemme know. _________
"Good morning baby, how are you?"
I smile coming into the kitchen pressing a kiss to y/n's cheek I turn towards the table where our four-year-old daughter is sat.
“Well good morning my love I’m doing good you?”
"Good in a little rush but good and a good morning to you princess did you sleep well?"
CC smiles nodding her head as I lean down scooping her up for a hug dropping a kiss to the top of her head before setting her back down. Going to the fridge I pull out the milk pouring some in a glass.
"Are you getting ready to head out my love?"
"Yeah Seth is coming with a car to pick me up we have a few house shows but I will be home Friday morning."
Taking a swig of the milk I spit it back into the cup making a face as y/n and CC start giggling at my expression.
"Did it go bad?"
Y/n asks trying to keep her laughs to herself as she gets a napkin for me to wipe my mouth and a glass of water to rinse it out.
"Definitely."
"Alright, I'll add it to the list darling make sure you give daddy a big hug."
"I don't want you to go."
CC pouts crossing her arms I walk over bending down to her level moving some hair from her eyes.
"I know you don't love I have to tho but I do have a surprise I'll be picking you up from school on Friday since mummy has to work late."
"Ice cream date?”
She whispers and I give her a grin nodding, every time I picked her up from school or we had some time alone together we went on a secret ice cream date.
"Don't tell mummy."
Holding my pinky out we wrap them kissing the tops of our hands I hug her pressing a kiss to her cheek. Setting her back down to finish her breakfast I walk over pulling y/n into a tight hug pressing a kiss to her mouth.
"Don't forget Mrs. Devitt I am taking you out Friday night."
"Is Sasha still able to watch her?"
"Yeah I spoke with her about it yesterday she's excited they all love CC."
When the bell rings I give her a sigh squeeze.
“That’s probably my ride now, door is open!”
“Good morning Devitt family!” Seth yells out a hello and our daughter quickly gets down from her chair.
"Uncle Seth!"
"Hey there cupcake where's my big bear hug?"
Chuckling as she tackles him I lace my fingers with y/n's leading her to where my suitcase is sat she hugs Seth before turning towards me.
"Promise you'll be careful?"
"I always am I'll give you a call when we get there please be safe I don't want my girls getting hurt and I'll see you in a few days I love you."
"I love you too."
Pressing a kiss to her lips I hug them both handing CC to y/n before grabbing my suitcase waving I follow Seth outside.
"How've ya been man?"
"Good just busy how about you?"
"Great a bit hectic the last few days CC was sick but started feeling better yesterday y/n was babysitting so it's been busy."
"Sounds like you're still enjoying yourself tho."
"Yep I can't help it I got a fantastic wife, a beautiful daughter it's just another day in paradise."
Seth smiles patting me on the back setting my case in the trunk I get in the passenger seat waving at the girls in the window before we drive off. ~(Friday)~ "We painted this for you too."
CC smiles as we sit in the ice cream parlor after school on Friday I look at the picture she painted with her best friend.
"It's beautiful princess we'll have to put it on the fridge when we get home I have another surprise for you."
"What is it?!"
"Shh calm down, aunt Sasha is coming over tonight to see you."
"Really?"
She squeals I nod my head smiling as she claps her hands happily we finish our ice cream before I buckle her up heading for home. Listening to her sing along to her favorite CD I soon join her. Once we’re safely inside we go to the fridge hanging her picture up then racing to the living room to watch a movie.
"Wait I have to get Balor Bear."
Pausing the opening credits I sit there waiting while she runs to get the bear that Dean and Roman got for her shortly after she was born. A few minutes later she walks in holding the soft red and black bear tightly to her chest before climbing on my lap.
Tumblr media
We watch a few movies and when the doorbell rings she runs over holding her hands in front of her.
"Hold on you."
Walking over I look out the peephole seeing Sasha pulling the door open CC runs into her arms squealing happily. Chuckling I greet Sasha ushering them into the living room we chat for a few minutes before my cell rings.
"I'll be right back."
Heading into the kitchen I smile seeing y/n's name on the screen bringing it up to my ear I speak.
"Hello, darling."
"Hey, babe I just wanted to see if you made it home safely."
"Yeah I did CC is in with Sasha she just got here so I'm sure they'll be busy watching movies and playing."
"That's great."
"You alright love?"
"Yeah I'm just a bit stressed my boss is letting the meeting run over so I don't know what time I'm going to be home. I'm so sorry Finn I really am but I'm going to try my hardest to get everything wrapped up as soon as possible."
"Don't stress out okay love just get here when you can and be safe I love you."
"I love you so much."
Speaking for a few minutes I let her go then head back into the living room to join in on the game of go fish. Throughout the afternoon and start of the evening y/n sends me tons of apology messages telling me she'll be home as soon as she can. When seven thirty rolls around I tell Sasha to head on home and get some rest with a promise to be by the next morning to spend a girls day with CC she heads out. Carrying her upstairs I give her a bath making sure to brush her hair out when she's done and put her in warm pajamas. Tucking her in bed I grab her favorite book lying next to her and reading until she's fast asleep. Leaving the door cracked I dial a number speaking quickly into it when I see y/n pull into the driveway. Waiting by the stairs I give her a smile when she comes in setting her bag on the counter.
"I'm so sorry."
"Shh."
Wrapping her in a hug I press a kiss to her head rubbing her back before cupping her face.
"I didn't mean to be so late Ferg I tried everything but he wouldn't hurry and then I got stuck in traffic. I'm sorry we missed the dinner reservation if I could have been here any sooner I would be I'm so so sorry."
Wiping the tears quickly falling from her eyes I kiss her softly pulling her back into my arms swaying us.
"Shh it's okay you can't help it and don't worry about the reservations we can always improvise. Go ahead up and take a hot bath then when you're done come back down here I just put CC to bed."
Giving her a gentle push up the stairs I walk into the dining room setting some candles in the holders we have. Setting the table with some drinks and plates I answer the door when the bell rings so it doesn't wake CC, paying for the pizza I shut locking the door. When y/n finally comes downstairs I smile kissing her forehead leading her to the table.
"What is this?"
"Improvising baby we're having Domino’s by candlelight."
"You're the best husband ever."
"Tell me something I don't already know."
I wink having her sit we eat in silence for a few minutes before talking about everything that had happened over the four days I was gone. Laughing as I tell her a match between myself and Drew we clean up after we eat. Wrapping my arm around her waist I kiss her smiling as she lets out a sigh.
"You know since she's in bed and we don't have anything else down here why don't we head upstairs? I think we could find something to get up to and trust me, baby, I promise that you'll enjoy it because it's overdue."
Giggling y/n nods her head letting me lead her up the stairs we tiptoe into our room closing the door. Keeping the lights off I kiss her backing us towards the bed running my fingers through her hair I work on marking her neck. Tugging my shirt off she sits up slowly dragging her fingers down my chest. Biting her lip lightly I grab the hem of her shirt stopping when we hear a small knock on the door before CC's sad voice.
"Mummy, daddy?"
"What's wrong princess?"
"I had a bad dream."
Kissing y/n's forehead she climbs off me going over to the door I lean back against the pillows holding my arm up when CC crawls in between us. Wiping her tears away I press a kiss to her head as y/n rubs her back shushing her.
"It's okay darling would you like to sleep with daddy and I tonight?"
"We won't let anything get you promise."
She nods her head snuggling into the pillows we quietly sing her back to sleep as she holds her teddy bear close.
"I'm sorry nothing went as planned tonight babe."
"It's alright love it's just another day in my paradise I wouldn't want this any other way."
Kissing her we lay with our little girl between us whispering softly to each other our fingers laced resting on her hip.

Skip Over It 2
“That’s what she said.”
She leaned on her hand and set the laser pointer down, rolling her eyes as the guys laughed. I shot her a grin and she shook her head.
“Are you done?”
“Depends. Are you gonna set up any more great jokes for me?”
“The only great joke I’ve seen from you is your form in the weight room.” I felt my cheeks redden as she nodded to the brace on my wrist. “And we all know how that turned out.”
Her nose crinkled when she smiled and I sat back, crossing my arms over my chest and ignoring the ache at the base of my palm. I kept my mouth shut through the last five slides of her presentation on concussions and waited until the room cleared to approach her.
“Can I ask you something?”
“Can you walk with me?” She started out of the room and down the hall, unlocking the door to her office. I took a seat opposite her desk and watched as she settled herself before looking at me. “What’s up?”
“My um, wrist. Did you get a chance to look at the X-ray?”
“I haven’t had a chance but the image should be in my email. Give me one second.” She began typing on her keyboard and grabbed a pair of glasses from her pocket, sliding them on and leaning in to her screen. I took the moment of silence to look around, eyeing the diplomas on the wall.
“Did you really go to Harvard?”
“For pre-med, yeah.”
“You like it?”
“It was alright. Lots of ivy. Lots of nerds.”
“I imagine you fit right in.” I couldn’t help myself. I was so intrigued by her, the wit and the smirk she delivered after every jab. She matched me step for step and it hadn’t been able to stop thinking about her since she called me out in the med room.
“Very funny.”
She said it flatly and I chalked it up to her focusing so hard on doing her job. I got up when she motioned for me to join her on the opposite side of the desk and leaned in, catching a hint of her perfume as I did. It was bright and floral and I cleared my throat as she pointed to the screen.
“I don’t see any breaks, nothing to be concerned about there, but this” she switched to another image, “may be a problem. You see that dark spot?”
I followed the circle her pen drew and squinted to see what she was talking about.
“That spot has the potential to derail your season if you don’t get it taken care of. It’s a weakening in your tendon caused by a matterbaby.”
“What’s a matterbaby?”
“Nothing, what’s the matter with you?” Her head dropped backwards as she laughed and slapped her thigh like it was the funniest thing she’d ever heard. I fought a grin and took my seat while I waited for her to sober up.
“Are you done?”
“Depends.” She raised an eyebrow and I waited for her to throw my own words back in my face. She pulled off her glasses and put them in her pocket instead, leaning back in her chair and crossing one leg over the other. “You’re gonna be fine. Both images are clear, nothing to worry about in your MRI. You most likely just strained it.”
“So I can play?”
“I’m gonna suggest you sit out preseason but if you nurse it, you should be good to go in a few weeks.”
“What about practice?”
“I don’t think it’s the best idea. You could prolong the healing process if you jump back in too soon.” Her mouth set in a hard line and she raised an eyebrow. “Anything else?”
“How do you like Raleigh?”
“It’s... different. A far cry from Chicago but it’s nice.”
“What’d you do in Chicago?”
“I worked with the Bulls.” I moved to lean in and bumped my arm on the table beside me, wincing as it hit. “You okay?”
“Yeah, I just- shit.”
“Is it still that bad?” I nodded and she stood, taking my hand and pulling me to my feet. I followed her down the hall and into the med room, leaning against the table as she pulled on gloves and snapped them against her skin.
“Do you have to do that every time you put them on?”
“Nah, but I like watching people flinch when I do.” She took the wrap off of my wrist and rewound it, looser than I’d done it this morning. I looked down and watched her work, averting my gaze when she brought her eyes to mine. “Were you staring at me?”
“I- no.” She gave me a half-smile and shook her head before disappearing into the back room. I heard the cooler open and shut and she reemerged with a bag of ice.
“I’m gonna tape this on, leave it for twenty minutes.” She checked her watch and showed me the time. “You can take it off at 10:26.”
“Then what?”
“Toss it in the garbage and come find me. We’re gonna alternate ice and heat at twenty minute intervals with a half-hour break in between sets.”
“Where will you be?”
“Most likely in my office, maybe in here. Laura and I have a ton of supplies to unpack so I’ll be here for a while. She’ll be able to help you if you can’t find me.”
“What if I can’t find either of you?”
“Then you’re either blind or not looking hard enough.” She tapped my hand and nodded towards the door. I started to leave but turned back and cleared my throat until she looked up from the box she was rifling in. “Something else?”
“I um, about what I said the other day, Even though you were acting like one, I shouldn’t-” I fumbled with my words and she held up a hand.
“Either apologize or stick to your guns bud. Nobody likes a flip-flopper.”
“I guess I was right then.”
“Maybe you were.” Her tone was curt and I took that as an end to the conversation, turning to leave before she could say anything else. As much as I wanted to say I was sorry, I couldn’t bring myself to.
Something about the tension between us was addictive and I couldn’t stop thinking about it as I sat on the bench. My mind kept wandering to the bite in her voice and I wondered if I’d gone too far. Practice was in full swing and I watched my teammates skate from one end of the ice to the other, back and forth and back and forth until my eyes crossed. I blinked a few times and checked my watch.
Three minutes until I had to go back and see her. I stood up and stretched before starting down the hall, poking my head into her office and finding it empty. I neared the med room and stopped a foot short as I heard her say my name on the other side.

Rocky Road pt. 4: ChromeSkull x Reader
HERE IT IS - WHAT YOU’VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR - THE SMUT!!!
And.... you know, murder... because it’s Jesse...
———————————————————
As the next week passed without incident, you began to suspect that you may have acted a bit rashly about this whole break-in thing.
The apartment security team patrolled the parking lots at night and since two weeks prior there hadn’t been any further incidents.
Plus, you’d been getting a couple funny looks on the stairwell when you had your mobile panic button visible.
‘Aren’t you a little young for a Life Alert?’
Yeah. Not great for your self esteem.
Not that you’d ever say anything to Jesse or Spann about it. After the team had left your place, you’d perused the company’s website – jaw dropping when you found the pricing estimate on what you assumed your set-up was.
You knew Jesse was loaded but JE-SUS.
Therefore, out of guilt if nothing else, you continued to use the alarm and wear the panic button.
Your flip-flops slapped noisily on the cement stairs that lead down to the apartments laundry room.
This complex was older – built somewhere around the late 60’s, so it wasn’t quite as up to California’s safety standards as some of the neighboring buildings were.
Meaning, it still had a basement. RIP to anyone down there if there was ever an earthquake.
One benefit to this was that there was an option for residents to have in-building storage spaces. They were rows of simple chainlink kennels (for lack of a better word) but they kept peoples old mattresses and boxed up Christmas décor nearby and out of the way.
Humming softly, your mind wandered over the rest of your to-do list as you trod along the tile floor, ignoring the shadows cast by the overhead lights.
A muffled thump followed by a CRACK interrupted your train of thought, and you stopped, listening closely for whatever had made that noise.
“Hello?” You called out tentatively.
You immediately scolded yourself for being paranoid; but hey, it was creepy down here.
Carefully moving forward, you poked your head around one of the hall corners – swiveling your gaze left and right, looking for movement.
A fast-moving shape appeared out of the corner of your eye, and you stepped back just in time to avoid a collision.
From the build, you assumed it was a man – covered head to toe in a black tracksuit and a ski-mask.
The two of you circled around each other for a second before he made an aborted lunge at you.
“What the fuck dude? Get out of here before I call the police!!”
You’d left your phone in your apartment; but this asshole didn’t know that.
The man chuckled meanly.
“Come on pretty, I was just checkin’ on something down here, no need to get scared.”
You bared your teeth.
“I’m not scared…” a complete lie – you were terrified.
“…I’m angry.”
Might as well go for as much intimidation as you could, right?
Crouching down a bit, you could tell the guy was about to make another charge at you. You fumbled in your pocked for a moment before feeling the cool plastic of your panic button, and pressed it.
“You hear that, bro? I made her angry!”
A second set of footsteps sounded from behind you.
Shit. There were two of them.
“Well you’ve never been very good with the ladies, bud.”
A nasty smiling face rounded the corner, and this one had a knife...
Pivoting on your back foot, you kept the empty hallway at your back as you moved in time with your two assailants – keeping them in your eyeline as much as you could.
Time to see if that month of Krav Maga lessons was still hanging around in your brain somewhere.
While they were busy bantering with each other, you took the opportunity to slide one foot out of your sandal.
Toeing it just a little you quickly flicked your foot – internally cheering as the foam flew up to hit one of the burglars in the face.
You didn’t give him time to recover before you turned and sprinted down the hallway – making for the stairs. The dim lighting of the stairwell was just barely visible from the end of the hall before you were rammed into from the side – sending you crashing into a chainlink wall with a loud CLANG.
Shit. There were THREE of them!
You felt some momentary panic as the third man on top of you started crowing to his compatriots “I got her!! Come here guys!”
Right before you flattened your free hand and smacked him in the junk as hard as you could.
Pushing the groaning body off of you, you turned and whipped out a leg, landing a kick right under the man’s chin.
He looked down for the count; but unfortunately, he was not. As you turned to run for the exit you felt a strong hand grip your ankle, tripping you and bringing you back down to the floor.
“Fucker!” you yelled, planting yet another kick to the man’s nose.
By this time you could see the forms of the other two men rounding the corner.
This was not good.
You looked around the space desperately, hoping to see something – anything - you could use to defend yourself as your attackers drew closer.
That’s when the lights all across the basement went dark.
Movement in the hallway ceased momentarily. Everyone, yourself included, looked around in confusion at the now black space.
The shadows that had once been merely annoying in the flickering lights grew long and ominous. Making the room look like something out of a horror movie.
Unfortunately, this didn’t delay your attackers for very long, and they began to move toward your prone form once more.
You fought like a rabbit in a snare against the hand holding your ankle. You refused to go down without a fight.
One more glance up at the approaching men stopped your struggling entirely.
A towering form was striding purposefully down the hall behind the men. It was clad entirely in black except for a shining mask where it’s head should be.
Your eyes grew even wider as the metal skulled man drew closer to your two attackers – easily two heads taller than either of them – and in what little light spilled through the dusty glass windows you could see a wicked looking pair of knives held in the gigantic mans hands.
Nearly gasping out a warning to the two men approaching, you could only watch with wide eyes as the masked man caught up with them. There was a sick gurgle and a scream as one man fell to the floor in a spray of arterial blood, his knife skittering across the tile as he dropped.
The second man sprinted down the hallway, yelling for the man who’s weak grasp still held your leg to ‘get the fuck out of here!’
He made it no more than a dozen steps before the man in black raised a single powerful arm and whipped his remaining knife through the air, until it hit it’s mark with a horrifyingly thick sound.
You scrambled to press yourself to the wall as the remaining burglar released you and took off on shaky legs towards the exit – running as fast as he could.
Unfortunately he wasn’t fast enough.
The tall man took off like a shot, moving far faster and with more agility than his huge frame would suggest; and in a matter of moments he had tackled the remaining thief to the cold linoleum floor.
The man begged for mercy, apologizing and swearing through tears and snot before a twist and a loud crunch silenced him forever.
One of your hands shot out and grasped the abandoned switchblade, taking a moment to familiarize yourself with it before brandishing it with as much menace as possible at the looming form of the metal skulled man walking back down the hall towards you.
“Stay the fuck away from me!”
The man held his gloved hands out in front of him – making it clear he was unarmed, before he dropped heavily to the ground on the other side of the hallway from you. He crossed his legs and casually leaned back against the chainlink.
He drew a familiar phone from his pocket and turned on the flashlight, shining it at you as if surveying for damage.
You blinked in shock as his fingers formed the signs for your name.
‘Glad you’re okay – looks like you barely needed me’
“…Jesse?”
The skull dipped shallowly before his hands rose to pull away the chromed mask from his face, revealing the scarred visage you’d become so familiar with over the last few months.
A long stream of air left your mouth as you lowered the knife.
“Holy shit Jesse… You just killed those guys… You were the number on the other end of the panic button?”
‘Yes. I didn’t trust anyone else to keep you safe’
“I don’t understand…”
Jesse paused before answering. Hands held lightly in front of his body before slowly signing.
‘I take care of the people who are important to me’
Your eyes dropped, staring at the black and white checkered tiles.
Oh yeah, there was that lovely reminder of your place in this mans life.
His text from earlier came to mind.
‘You’re important… to Addy’
You hummed in what you hoped sounded like amusement.
“Who would watch Addy otherwise, right? Gotta make sure the nanny keeps herself alive.”
Jesse shook his head rapidly and reached forward, pulling you closer to his large form.
He grabbed your hand and placed it on his hard chest – letting you feel his rapidly beating heart.
‘I take care of the people who are important to me’
A near-death experience and a ton of adrenaline were what you would forever blame your next actions on because the next thing you knew you were straddling your employer and pressing your lips to his scarred ones.
Jesse froze just long enough to make you think that maybe you’d just made a horrible mistake.
As you began to pull away one of his hands rose, free of it’s glove, and threaded around the back of your head.
Your lips met again, this time with his enthusiastic participation, and you couldn’t help but moan as his tongue slid through your lips to play with your own. He definitely knew what he was doing.
Jesse’s hands wandered down from your head, along your body, feeling each curve and gently squeezing your soft flesh before he grasped you under your ass and stood from his seat on the floor - taking you with him in an impressive show of strength.
He made a beeline for the ancient elevator -stumbling slightly as your lips attached themselves to his neck - sucking a dark hickey above the collar of his black shirt.
He whacked the call button with a bit more force than was strictly needed; but you weren’t about to call him out on it. Not when his fingers were sliding up your shirt to play with the clasp of your bra.
Briefly lowering your feet to the floor, he turned you so your back was pressed to the elevator doorframe, dipping down to return the marking bruises you’d left on his neck.
You whined at the feeling of his teeth nipping at your sensitive skin.
Vibrations of air buzzed lowly against you where Jesse’s mouth met the column of your throat, and you hazily realized that if he could speak he would be moaning right along with you.
“Fuuuucckkk Jesse…”
Delicate fingers rose to run across the skin of his head, pulling him closer as the elevator doors dinged open and the pair of you stumbled inside – still attached by hands and lips.
———————————————————————
The worlds longest elevator ride took you up to your floor, and you giggled as Jesse kept pressing kisses to your face and neck as you fumbled for your keys.
You gasped as one large hand drifted teasingly down the front of your jeans, toying with the elastic waistband of your panties.
As soon as your lock clicked you turned to grab your partner by the neck, pulling him down into another deep kiss as you walked backwards into your apartment.
Pushing the heavy fabric of his suit coat away from his shoulders you yelped in surprise as you were lifted up and placed on the cool laminate of your kitchen counter.
Jesse quickly pulled his black undershirt off, leaving his torso bare to your eyes – which appreciatively followed the lines of his muscles, stopping periodically to admire one of the tattoos he had scattered across his skin.
He rested his hands on either side of your hips, catching his breath, before quickly signing ‘Are you sure you want this?’
In response, you pulled your own shirt over your head, taking your bra with it.
A single brown eye flew over your form with appreciation, making you feel like a goddess – until his hands rose to unzip your pants and you remembered what underwear you’d decided to put on today.
To say your Spongebob Squarepants boy shorts made you feel about as unsexy as possible was an extreme understatement; and you blushed bright red as soon as they were revealed to Jesse’s questing hands.
You could see the amusement in his eye as his gaze met yours. His finger dove down to pluck playfully at the elastic and you were pretty sure you’d just ruined the mood… right up until the offending panties were literally ripped from your hips and you were pulled down the counter until your naked pelvis was hanging just off the surface.
Breath left you in a loud whoosh as Jesse began to kiss his way down your body, stopping anywhere that make you whimper, until he was on his knees between your thighs – his formidable height leaving him eye to eye with your aroused pussy.
The first touch of his tongue against your heated skin nearly brought you to completion right then and there. You couldn’t remember ever being this turned on with any of your previous partners, and with every swirl and suckle Jesse’s talented mouth left on your slit, your moaning praise of the man in between your legs increased.
You were nearly to your finish – hips shamelessly rising to meet every swipe of Jesse’s tongue – when he kissed your clit one last time and pulled away.
A loud cry of dismay left your mouth until you saw his shaking hands working at his belt and fly, freeing his erection from his black slacks.
Legs falling even further open at the sight of him, your hand dipped to rub at your clit – unable to hold back your groan of arousal at the sight of the heavy cock you wanted inside you more than anything.
“Please Jesse… please…” you gasped out, writhing as your fingers kept you on the edge of orgasm.
Jesse closed the gap between the two of you and leaned down, meeting your lips with his own in a searing kiss.
As he kissed you, his hips pressed forward – your hand moved away from your clit to take hold of his length and guide him into you – gasping loudly into his mouth as he slipped inside.
He threw one of your legs over his shoulder and began a punishing pace. Each thrust hitting you just right as his thick erection rubbed against every nerve ending inside of you.
You were pretty sure you heard several people pounding on your walls – shouting at you to keep it down – but you couldn’t be bothered to give a fuck as Jesse continued to drive into you.
With a loud wail you were brought to orgasm – mind blanking out as electric currents of pleasure ran from your overstimulated core to your brain.
Jesse’s hips stuttered and he fell forward, resting his head against your chest as you were filled with thick heat.
For a few moments, the only sound in the room was both of your gasping breaths as you came down from your highs.
Sitting up from your sprawl across the counter, you gently ran a hand across Jesse’s sweat-covered skin, enjoying being able to touch him as you pleased.
A moment later his head rose from your chest and he pressed a soft kiss to your lips. You felt him smile against you.
Pulling away, he gently lifted you from the counter, making sure your shaky legs would hold before passing you his jacket to cover yourself with.
He leaned back, casually resting his hip against your cabinets.
He grinned as he signed ‘So, can I take you to dinner?’
You let out a loud laugh and nodded.
“I think I’d really like that.”

Hello, if it's ok I would like to ask request on match-ups, I read some of your match-up and I love it 😊 I'm a slightly introvert person, I like to be friends with people. I like animals that are easy to take care of like dogs and cats, I eat few foods and sometimes forgot to eat when busy at work. No sense of direction and lastly, I love to draw. Thank you very much.
Hey there, love! I hope you are having a good day! Here is ya matchup, I hope I didn’t make you wait too long! And I hope you enjoy it! ^0^
So I match you with.................. Hideyoshi
Tumblr media
The first time Hideyoshi sees you he obviously doesn’t trust you due to the nature of his job and his position as right-hand man. You are so cute and sweet, and your low key reminds him of his precious vassal, Mitsunari. Honestly, both of you have that same pure sweet, lovable aura. However, he thinks that may all just be a type of front to get close to Nobunaga, so he is on high alert whenever you are around.
He micromanages you every chance he gets. You honestly get a little annoyed at the constant looking over your shoulder. You were determined to earn his trust by working harder than everyone there. You worked day in and day out. Honestly, the warlords had never seen the castle so fresh and clean before, nor had they seen anyone work so hard. You earned a lot of respect among everyone for this, well all but one. Hideyoshi was convinced that the only reason you were working so hard was to gain trust so you could spy on them. Not just that, but you never really interacted with anyone, you were so quiet. Little did he know you kept to yourself due to your introverted nature.
It had been a week since your arrival, and honestly, you were starting to feel the effects of working so hard. You couldn’t remember the last time you ate because you were so focused on your work and getting Hideyoshi to back off. You were starting to feel a little light-headed, but you decided to push through and do one more task before retiring for the day. War counsel had just broken up, and Hideyoshi was on his way back to his manor when he saw you sweeping. You were swaying and looking like you were about to pass out. Hideyoshi sprinted to you just in time to catch you before you hit the ground. He gently held you in his arms and looked down at your face. And this was the first time he really looked at you. You were ghostly pale, you had dark rings under your eyes, your cheeks were sunken in, and you felt so frail. He cradled your head to lean on his shoulder, and bridal style carried you back to your room. He gently laid you down on the futon and called for Ieyasu to examine you to make sure you were okay. Ieyasu shook his head when he saw the state you were in, by this time you had made many a friend among the Oda forces, you even managed to build a friendship with the porcupine. “Silly girl, I told you to take it easy and look after yourself, but no one ever listens to me.” He turned to look at Hideyoshi and diagnosed you with extreme exhaustion.
Hideyoshi felt so bad, it was him who had pushed you to that point, him who constantly looked over your shoulder, and he was to only one left that had suspected you. He felt like an utter fool. He sat beside your bed the whole night, stroking your hair, praying for you to wake up. And hoping you would forgive him for being so blind. You woke up early that morning to seeing Hideyoshi’s face mere centimeters away from yours. You were shook but too weak to move. You spent those few moments staring at his face. He was actually quite handsome when he wasn’t scowling at you. Hideyoshi woke up. You started into those honey eyes when all of a sudden, it looked like the sun had just come out. Hideyoshi gave you the brightest, warmest smile. You were now shook x2. Whaaaaat Hideyoshi can smile. Hideyoshi sat up and started apologizing for his horrible treatment of you profusely. He called for the maids to bring in the food he had made for you. And boy did the plates just keep coming. The two of you had breakfast together, and he insisted on taking you to the markets to find you an apology gift. You relented after the 5th time of declining his offer. This boy was definitely not going to take no for an answer
The two of you had the best time together in the market. You honestly were still in shock at Hideyoshi being so kind and caring. The two of you tried different foods, drank tea, and he literally bought you everything that you freaken looked at. Even if you just spared it a small glance, he would whip out his man purse and buy it for you. You met his entire fan club and made a ton of new friends that day. All his “girlfriends” were super friendly and had invited you to tea with them. Even though you were a little shy, they made you feel right at home, gossiping with you about all the happenings of the city. Hideyoshi was super happy and proud of you for making so many friends, and he would occasionally accompany you to meet up with your mutual friends. The lot of you would drink tea and chat until sunset. You and Hideyoshi would then wave your friends goodbye and walk back to the palace together hand in hand
Since then you and Hideyoshi actually grew closer. The first time you visited his manor, you were pleasantly surprised at the fact that he kept a little monkey as a pet. It was the sweetest little creature. And this monkey instantly fell in love with you. When she spotted you, she ran and jumped into your arms. You had always been good with animals. Hideyoshi was so happy that the two of you had become such quick friends. You and Hideyoshi played with the little money all afternoon. Hideyoshi was still so angry with himself that he had treated such a sweet kind person so horribly. Honestly, at this point, he would sneak a few gazes at your face. You really are such a beautiful person. Full of light and warmth.
Hideyoshi has to go into full brown mothering mode with you cause let’s be real your lack of sense of direction is definitely problematic. You definitely give him a few grey hairs because of it. You would find yourself lost all the time. You would start off walking to his manor and land up in the markets. This definitely causes him to hold your hand whenever the two of you go out, just to be 1000% sure you don’t get lost. Plus, it’s an excellent excuse to hold your hand, period. This boy and help but think how nicely your smaller side fits in his.
You would look after Uri the monkey whenever Hideyoshi would go of to war. In fact, it wasn’t just Hideyoshi’s pet who you would care for during times of war but all the warlord’s beloved pets. You would draw the most beautiful sketches of them and send them to the warlords. Hideyoshi absolutely loves your drawings. He secretly carried the little pictures you drew and sent to him of Uri in his pocket. He treated the drawing as the most precious piece of paper in the world, carrying it around everywhere like a lucky charm.
The two of you actually fell in love when he was away at war. Both of you sent letters back and forth, talking about anything and everything. Hide would even send you back clumsy little doodles of the oda forces just for laughs. You had heard about his “little problem,” but you didn’t mind, you knew he was loyal to Nobunaga, and you didn’t want to change him. You loved him just the way he was
When he got back you practically pounced on him. If it wasn’t clear to the other that you loved each other before, it was definitely clear now. Especially after the way you flung yourself into his arms and kissed him all over his face. You two can often be found exchanging sweet little love notes attached doodles to brighten the other day. He loves to spend time with you in his room, sipping on tea and chatting about anything and everything. This boy loves to rest his head on his lap while you gently play with his hair. He works so hard that you think it only right to provide him with these little quiet times of rest. And you absolutely love this mama bear who makes sure you have eaten enough every day and dotes on you like crazy. You love just spending time with Hideyoshi, whether it’s playing together with the lil monkey or sitting together under the shade of a tree cloud gazing. You can’t help but be madly in love with this man who had given you all his love and even his life. Looks like you and Nobunaga now have to compete for Hideyoshi’s affections and time.
Other Potential matches............. Shingen
I hope you enjoyed it, dear! And thanx again for the request! <3

One Bad Coffee
Summary: Weiss Schnee spends her time in two worlds, but one bad coffee begins a chain of events that leads to her worlds coming together in a beautiful way.
One Shot written based on the White Rose 2019 prompt Coffee/First (yes I know it's late)
AN: The last few years I have noticed the phenomenon knows as White Rose Week, and it's subsequent partners, and I've always told myself I'd get involved at some point. I, however, have the misfortune of never seeing it coming before it's here and I have no time to prepare for the prompts. Another White Rose Week comes and it is the same story. But I did have this idea based on the day 1 prompts 'Coffee/First', and felt the need to write it regardless. I know it's technically 'late' for the day 1 prompts and I'm still not sure if I'm going to do the other prompts at all, so I was hesitant to officially tag this as 'White Rose Week 2019', but worst case scenario is I drop a tag if it becomes an issue.
'Coffee' takes the form of a coffee shop, 'First' takes the form of 'first IRL meeting'I hope you enjoy!
   ---
Weiss Schnee was a busy woman. She was trying to get her own company off the ground to spite her father, dealing with the social and political backlash of openly attacking him in the process, and subsequently got little time to herself. A quick coffee from a café in the early morning was one of her few short moments, so was it too much to ask the universe for things to go smoothly?
Apparently not.
For starters, her go-to café had apparently closed, and she had no idea until the was staring at the sign on its door apologizing for the permanent shutdown. And with her free time to get a coffee quickly shortening, she didn’t have time to decide where to go next based on any research or recommendations. So, she quickly searched for the closest coffee shop and headed straight there.
SunnyKat Kafé was one of those coffee house names that clearly meant something to the owners personally, and so was clearly small-time. It didn’t matter, as long as Weiss could quickly get some decent caffeine. She would look for another coffee shop tomorrow. She barged through the door, looking up long enough to see no one at the counter. Her attention was firmly re-planted into her phone, trying to damage control her inevitable late-ness before it came to pass.
“Welcome to SunnyKat!” A disturbingly cheerful and strangely familiar female voice rang out. “What can I get you?”
“Vanilla latte made with soy. Please,” Weiss added after a pause like it was an afterthought.
“Coming right up!” The voice seemed to shrug off Weiss’s impoliteness and seeming disinterest.
Her energy almost reminds me of Crescent, Weiss realized, before quickly squashing that thought. This wasn’t the time to be thinking about her nightly activities.
She did manage to smile that morning. It seemed her pre-emptive mitigation for her impending tardiness paid off, and she may even be able to stretch a moment to enjoy her caffeine rather than simply consume it. Maybe the universe only placed a small bump instead of a large pothole on her day. Until she received her drink.
“Here you are, ma’am!” The cheery voice called her to her beverage.
“Thank you,” Weiss nodded to the barista a bit more sincerely along with her slowly rising mood. She raised the cup to lips and took in a mouthful before promptly spitting the mouthful right back out.
“AAIIEE” The barista jumped back.
And so the universe rears its ugly head! “Are you deaf and dumb!? I said soy!” Weiss shouted.
“I’m sorry!” The barista screeched quickly.
“Sorry!? Is that all you have to say!?” Weiss’s day was already bad before it began, and it didn’t help her mood.
“Well, what am I-” the barista began before being cut off.
“It’s not even a complicated order! How hard is it to get right!?” Weiss interrupted.
“I just-” the barista tried again to get a word in.
“I am a paying customer, and you don’t even have the decency to listen!?” Weiss continued unabated.
“If you would let-”
“Do you have anything at all to say for yourself!?”
“Can I-?”
“Oh, never mind, you’re clearly useless. Where is you manager?”
Silence fell while Weiss waited to the barista to do something. “Well?”
“I go get them, ma’am…” the barista walked away, dejected and slightly frustrated.
Weiss impatiently tapped her foot while a barely audible discussion took place in the back rooms. She had managed to buy herself a few extra minutes, and now they were spent dealing with an ignorant barista and a likely apologetic manager. She couldn’t remember having a worse morning in recent memory.
“Hello,” the apparent manager, a woman with amber eyes and raven hair, finally stepped out of the back room. “Allow me to apologize for our mistake. I am willing to make you the correct drink myself, and charge you for neither.”
Weiss didn’t have to time to continue her tirade and nodded. “Vanilla latte. With. Soy.”
The manager nodded and quickly made the correct drink, handing it over with a nod. “I hope you have a better morning.”
“Just tell me that dunce will be reprimanded appropriately,” Weiss demanded.
“We have our policies, I assure you,” The manager spoke vaguely.
It will have to do, Weiss nodded and finally left. With no time to enjoy her coffee, she couldn’t even tell the quality as she downed it.
   ---
Thankfully, the rest of Weiss’s day was not nearly as terrible as her morning. Aside from her father’s usual shenanigans trying to kill her career, things went quite smoothly in the office. She was in a much better mood by the time she got home, and it would only get better before bed. Because, you see, Weiss Schnee has a secret.
Between work and bed, Weiss had more free time than all the rest of her stolen minutes throughout the day put together. A solid few hours where she can do whatever she wants, and in the privacy of her own home no one would even question her chosen indulgence. An indulgence where she could truly be herself, casting aside the cold demeanor that dominated her life even after breaking free of her father and wearing a personality that, she dared say, was a little ‘warmer’.
An indulgence called Remnant Online.
Weiss grabbed a box of takeout and headed right for her computer, booting it up as she quickly sated her hunger. This was where she could be her true self. This is where she found her true friends, even if she has never met them in person. This was where she found her true happiness these days.
Myrten Aster has logged into the sever.
The virtual world loaded around her character, a white-dressed ‘battlemage’ with significant specialization in the ‘mage’ part over the ‘battle’ part. Three other player characters were already in the inn she loaded in to. Ember Celica, a gold-scaled draconic specialized in bare-handed combat and high defense. Gambol Shroud, a black dressed trickster who didn’t fight so much as use tools to inflict status effects on their foes. And finally, Weiss’s closest in-game friend if she had to choose, Crescent Scythe, a very high-level player who managed to combine high speed with using a great-weapon, a legendary scythe she’s apparently had for years before Weiss joined their group.
Crescent Scythe has sent you a party request, for Ember Celica’s party.
You have joined Ember Celica’s party.
Weiss put on her headphones in time to be assaulted by Crescent Scythe’s greeting, “AAASSTTERRR!!!”
“OW!” Weiss flinched, “I have better headphones now, Crescent, you don’t have to scream to get my attention!”
“Sorry, Aster…” Crescent’s voice sounded through the party chat. “I just couldn’t wait for you to get here!”
“I’m not late, am I?” ‘Aster’ asked. I don’t think I am.
“Nah, Crescent’s just excited for the boss!” Ember Celica, the party leader and apparently Crescent’s older sister, spoke up.
“As long as she remembered to place the warp crystal before we logged out this time,” Weiss teased.
“You forget one time…” Crescent bemoaned.
“We lost three floors of progress in that dungeon,” Weiss reminded her.
“One time! One little mistake, I’m sorry I was distracted!” Crescent shouted.
Weiss noticed this outburst was a little out of character. “I didn’t mean to offend you or anything…” she apologized, “Are you okay?”
“Crescent had a rough morning at work,” Gambol Shroud informed her. “A, to use her delicate language, ‘butthole’ customer, has been stuck on her mind all day.”
“Warp crystal or no, I just need to beat something up,” Crescent confirmed.
“If they were so in the wrong, why didn’t you say anything?” Weiss’s question was met with giggles and laughter from the other three party members. “What?”
“You’ve never worked in customer service, have you?” Celica asked, “Have you ever heard the phrase ‘the customer is always right’?”
“It doesn’t literally mean ‘the customer is always right’?” Weiss was confused.
“Wow, you really don’t know anything about this, huh?” Crescent commented, “Lucky.”
“C’mon,” Gambol cut in, “Let’s get on with it. We can continue this conversation as we play.”
The group gathered around Crescent as her spell allowed them to pick up the dungeon where they left off the night before. They quickly fell into their battle routine, their roles so clearly defined and practiced between themselves communication wasn’t necessary unless someone had a plan that would take them off-script.
Myrten Aster handled a lot of long-range spells and healing, usually of Ember Celica who drew a ton of aggro and tanked the damage. Gambol Shroud made sure to make the enemies weak to certain spells and damage types. At the front of the charge was Crescent Scythe, hitting for multiple strikes per tick and causing bleeding damage with her legendary scythe.
“So, what does ‘the customer is always right’ really mean?” Weiss picked up where they left off once they had settled into their lull.
“It’s a guideline, in a way,” Celica answered, “The customer is always right, even when they’re wrong. It doesn’t always apply; we can’t give away drinks for free just cause a customer demands it. It’s more for when a customer is being rude.”
“Yeah, when someone’s being a butt, we just have to grin and take it,” Crescent vented.
“If people were to start hearing we regularly shout at customers, we’d begin to lose patronage,” Gambol explained, “Even if we had reason, people will trust a customer’s review over a manager’s assurance.”
“So we have to play nice, even if a customer doesn’t deserve it,” Crescent continued, “And yes, I did make a mistake, but it was a small mistake and she didn’t have to be sooo mean about it!”
“What happened?” Weiss didn’t mind Crescent venting to her. It was strange to hear Crescent angry, and she wanted their happy-go-lucky speed reaper back.
“Have we ever told you where we work?” Celica asked.
“No,” Weiss confirmed, “I do remember you guys saying you all work together once, though.”
“Well, Gambol and I run a coffee shop together, and Crescent is one of our loyal baristas!” Celica announced happily. “It’s our pride and joy.”
A coffee shop? The comment tripped a small twitch that she couldn’t identify in her mind.
“One of my first customers this morning was this important-looking woman I’ve never seen before,” Crescent picked up, “She ordered something with Soy, but I was… distracted, while I made the drink and forgot the Soy part.”
That made Weiss freeze. It can’t be… I mean, what are the chances we all live in the same city? I met them online, after all…
“And, yeah, she might have been lactose intolerant and that could be bad, I know I made a mistake,” Crescent continued uninterrupted, not being able to physically see Weiss’s reaction, “But it was still an understandable mistake, I’d like to think anyway.”
Weiss quickly shook herself and resumed her healing duties before Celica died and she was called out for going AFK mid-combat. “And, um, how did she react?” she asked, still holding some hope.
“She literally spit the coffee in my face, soaking my apron, and yelled at me,” Crescent vented, dashing Weiss’s fleeting hope.
“And you weren’t allowed to say anything because of ‘the customer is always right’?” Weiss pressed, surprised to learn these things. Do I really act this way? Is this how all my waiters and waitresses see me?
“Even if I could, I couldn’t get a word in edgewise!” Crescent shouted, “She demanded I explain myself and then gave me no room to do so before demanding to speak to my boss! I think she was hoping I’d get fired.”
“You didn’t get fired, right?” Weiss asked.
“You think I’d fire my little sister!?” Celica seemed offended.
“Of course not!” Weiss quickly corrected, “That’s not what I meant. I meant would you have if it were anywhere else?”
“Only if the boss was a real jerk,” Crescent affirmed, “Boss-types know how to talk down someone without making promises.”
“And when it’s a customer being unduly rude, there’s usually some silent understanding between manager and employee,” Blake added.
That made Weiss feel slightly better. “Maybe she was just having a bad morning,” Weiss found herself saying without permission from her brain.
“I’ve seen her type plenty,” Gambol countered, “Some self-important VP or CEO or something high up in some corporation. It’s like they don’t understand that the people serving their coffee and cooking their meals are human beings too. I don’t doubt this is far from the first time she’s done this.”
It was only thanks to plenty of practice with her party that Weiss was able to keep fighting while her mind was thrown into turmoil. Is that really how I act? I know I spend most of my day cold and emotionless, but I’d like to think I’m warmer underneath it all… but if I did it to Crescent, I’ve probably done it to others as well… I could blame my father’s method of raising me, but I’ve already broken free of him, so is that really any excuse?
“Aster, you in there?” Celica called out, bringing Weiss back, “You’ve been healing me for the last ten rounds, except we’re not in battle.”
“Sorry!” Weiss quickly returned her mind to RO and her party.
“Can we stop talking about butthole customers now?” Crescent asked, “I’m pretty sure this is the boss gate!”
“Let’s do this!” Celica cried.
“I’m ready to go!” Gambol cheered on.
Weiss pushed the conversation back in her head, promising herself to meditate on these thoughts later and returning to the ‘Aster’ mindset. “He won’t know what’s coming!” She was ready to support her friends.
The fight was long and tedious, but well within the party’s level. The loot was automatically generated based on their characters, and Weiss got a rare rapier for landing the last hit. “Aw, lucky!” Celica complained, “I wanted the last hit bonus…”
“You don’t use weapons?” Gambol reminded her.
“Still, I never seem to get last hit bonuses,” Celica argued.
“We can re-do this dungeon starting tomorrow?” Crescent offered.
“Nah, I’d rather start a new one,” Celica answered, “I think there’s still a couple new dungeons we haven’t touched yet in the far regions.”
As they returned to the inn and wound down the session, Weiss continued to stare at Crescent’s character on screen, imagining the barista from the morning standing there in Crescent Scythe’s place. “Hey, Crescent?”
“Yeah, Aster?” Crescent spoke up.
“I’m sorry about this morning. You’re too sweet to have to deal with… people like that…” Weiss tried to apologize.
“It’s okay, Aster,” Crescent assured, “It’s not like you’re the one who spit on my clothes and shouted at me.”
A pang of guilt shot through her heart.
“I mean, if that’s how she reacted to misplaced soy, can you imagine if she discovered why I was distracted?”
Weiss’s head perked back up. “Why were you distracted?”
“Yes, my hopeless little gay-by sister, why were you distracted?” Celica spoke in a clearly teasing tone that told Weiss the older sister already knew.
Hopeless little what now?
“I… umm…” Crescent didn’t sound like she wanted to confess the point.
“C’mon, don’t be bashful now!” Celica continued to press.
“She was just… pretty…” Crescent admitted, “Like… really, really pretty…”
Not for the first time that night, Weiss’s world was rocked. She had no idea Crescent was even into women, and now she knew where she worked, what she looked like, and that she thought Weiss was pretty? “O-oh…”
“Do you mind…?” Crescent asked carefully.
“Mind what?” Weiss asked, confused. Crescent couldn’t have known Aster was her rude customer.
“Me being gay…?” Crescent clarified.
“Oh, that?” Weiss decided to be cheeky and made her character shrug, “It would be hypocritical of me, honestly.”
“Woah, really!?” Celica seemed more surprised that Crescent.
The night finally ended soon after, giving Weiss plenty to think about. It’s not like you’re the one who spit on my clothes and shouted at me. Except she was. And it made her feel like… well, like a ‘butt’, to think that was how she treated anybody, let alone Crescent. If Myrten Aster couldn’t apologize for Weiss, then Weiss just had to do it in person.
   ---
SunnyKat Kafé stood in front of her once again. This time, Weiss headed straight here, and that meant she had the time to enjoy her coffee and – most importantly – apologize. She stepped inside with a new mindset that had her examining the store around her. Nice and homey, bright art on the walls, little snacks that could be served alongside the café’s coffee, were all visible from the door – and things she failed to notice yesterday.
“He-EL-llo!” The barista with Crescent’s voice called out to her, hoping her squeak went unnoticed.
Of course she’s worried I’m going to yell at her again… Weiss frowned. She approached the counter, examining – and totally not checking out – the woman she knew to be Crescent Scythe. A short mop of messy dark-red hair seemed perfectly in style for Crescent’s personality. A cute, round face perfect for things Weiss really shouldn’t be thinking about. Finally, Gray eyes that looked over Weiss herself expectantly, reminding Weiss she was a customer in a coffee shop.
“Hello, again-” Weiss caught herself before she called the barista ‘Crescent’ and looked to her nametag, “…Ruby.”
“Um, hello again,” Ruby tried her best to be cheery. “It was a, umm… ‘something’ with soy, correct?”
“Vanilla latte made with soy,” Weiss ordered mechanically, “yes, please.”
Ruby blinked, feeling that today’s ‘please’ was a bit more genuine. She quickly got to work while Weiss sat nearby. Ruby was making a point not to let herself get distracted. Weiss could tell because she herself couldn’t take her eyes of the cute girl.
What the hell is wrong with you!? Weiss scolded herself, you’re here to apologize, not to ogle her!
“Here you go!” Ruby handed over the coffee carefully. Weiss took it with a smile and a nod, but her smile failed when she noted Ruby actively taking a step back. As to not get spit on.
Weiss lowered the coffee, figuring now was the time. “Listen, I’m sorry about yesterday.”
It clearly wasn’t what Ruby expected. “What?”
“Last night I was speaking to… a close friend,” Weiss explained, “And they made me realize I had treated you unfairly.”
“So… was it just a bad day?” Ruby asked.
Weiss decided to open up to Ruby. After all, if she were to open up to anyone in her life, it would have been Crescent. “I was raised to believe myself better than everyone else. It took me a long time to break away from that life, and it seems I’m still learning about how to treat people properly.”
“That… kind of sucks,” Ruby nodded. “I think I get it, though. You’re trying to be better, right?”
“Yes, I am…” Weiss admitted shyly.
“Well… this is a good start!” Ruby smiled genuinely, “If it’s not too much for me to say, of course…”
“It’s not,” Weiss smiled. She finally took a sip of her coffee and was pleasantly surprised to discover it was a genuinely good coffee. Maybe I don’t need to find another coffee shop after all…
“Well, enjoy your coffee! I’ve got customers, so…” Ruby awkwardly shuffled away.
Weiss nodded, deciding it was time to go to the rest of her own day. As she left, she found her mind stuck on Crescent’s – or rather Ruby’s – eyes. The had been gray at first, but after her apology they changed. As Ruby’s mood brightened, so did her eyes, until they shined a beautiful silver.
   ---
“Oh, Aster, you’ll never guess what happened today!” Crescent cheered happily as they worked through the next dungeon.
“Oh?” Weiss didn’t have to hide her knowing smile since Ruby couldn’t see it, “Something good, I hope.”
“That mean girl from yesterday came back,” Ruby told her.
“What?” Celica cut in, “You didn’t tell me that. Do I have to smack a- ow!” she was interrupted by taking a massive hit from the mini-boss they were fighting.
“Language,” Gambol chided.
“No, no! She actually came to apologize!” Ruby defended.
“Really?” Gambol seemed surprised.
“Yeah!” Ruby’s voice seemed excited, “She said she was trying to be a better person.”
“Huh,” Gambol sounded thoughtful, “Do you think she meant it?”
“I do,” Ruby acknowledged, “she told me other things that… I’m not exactly comfortable sharing, and I’m positive she meant it!”
“You’ve always had that effect on people,” Celica sounded proud, “So… you crushin’ on Customer Lady?”
Weiss’s heart skipped a beat.
“What? Nooo,” Ruby denied, a bittersweet feeling washing over Weiss, “I don’t even know her. We’ve only spoken twice. Not even. Once, really.”
“I take it by the teasing, you’re not in a relationship?” Weiss asked.
“You’re not gunna start hittin’ on my sis, are ya Aster?” Celica responded. It sounded a lot like a threat.
“Shut up, sis!” Ruby intervened before Weiss had to respond.
“Is there anyone you’re interested in?” Weiss, once again, couldn’t help but ask.
“Is there anyone you’re interested in!?” Ruby countered in a tone Weiss couldn’t decipher.
“Touché…” Weiss nodded. While she felt she knew a lot about her RO friends simply by interacting with them, questions had never become that personal before now. She herself often rebuked questions about her history or career so she could understand wanting to stay quiet, especially online where you never know who is listening.
“You didn’t answer the question…” Gambol pointed out.
“Wait, was I supposed to?” Weiss was sincerely confused. She heard Ruby giggle. “Something you want to say, Crescent?”
“So much you still don’t know…” Ruby teased, “It just reminds me of when I first found you in the Beacon Guild’s hall. You barely knew what a hit point was!”
“Quiet, you!” Weiss’s scold was met the laughter of her friends.
   ---
Weiss’s mornings improved immeasurably once she became a regular to SunnyKat Kafé. She would go so far to say that ‘Weiss’ and ‘Ruby’ had become fast friends. Several weeks passed to reach this day, which started as any other. Weiss entered the store to Ruby’s cheery cry of her name, before the barista immediately set to work on Weiss’s drink that Ruby had long since memorized.
“So how was work yesterday?” Ruby asked, a habit she defended by arguing she didn’t have any way to talk to Weiss in the afternoons.
“It’s getting easier,” Weiss smiled, “I think my father is finally backing off. Or he has some new strategy, and this is just the calm before the storm.”
“I really hope it’s the first one,” Ruby’s smiled that smile that could light a pitch-black room.
“Thank you, Ruby…”
They had their usual short and pleasant conversation, and Weiss felt her resistance waning. She couldn’t hold back anymore, and her next question had been a long time coming. “Hey, Ruby?”
The barista made sure no one was at the counter before turning her attention over, “Yeah, Weiss?”
“Are… you doing anything later today? Around lunch or… maybe dinner?” Weiss gripped her latte tight as her nerves rose.
“Um… are… are you… asking me on a date?” Ruby questioned slowly.
“I… yes,” Weiss cleared her throat, “yes I am.”
“Oh…”
Weiss didn’t like the sound of that ‘oh…’.
“I… don’t get me wrong, you’re great,” Ruby tried to soften the blow, “You’re pretty and I know that you are a good person, even if you don’t think you are yourself, deep down… And I am single… But my heart already wants someone else…”
“…I see…” Weiss nodded slowly. “I’m sorry… to have put you in this position… I need to go to work.”
Weiss retreated quickly, and Ruby didn’t stop her.
   ---
Weiss debated logging on to Remnant Online that night. She knew Ruby had no idea Weiss equaled Myrten Aster, and the party would certainly be missing her. Celica in particular had come to rely on Aster’s healing. I just don’t know if I can separate Ruby and Crescent Scythe. Instead, the young CEO simply stared at the RO launcher.
Private Message received.
Weiss’s eyes were drawn to the corner of the launcher. It was linked to her account, so she could receive private messages even if she wasn’t technically ‘logged in’ to the world of RO. She saw the message came from Crescent Scythe, and hesitated to open it.
Crescent Scythe: Hey, you not logging on today?
Crescent Scythe: I mean, it’s cool if your not, the party just needs to know before we head out.
Crescent Scythe: Not to be ‘that person’, but I can see your reading my messages…
Myrten Aster: You’re** and yes, I’m logging in soon. Just had a rough day, I didn’t know if I was up to questing.
Crescent Scythe: No pressure! If you’re not up it I totally understand! I used you’re right that time, right?
Myrten Aster: It’s fine, I think questing might be a good distraction, in retrospect. And yes, you used it right. ‘See’ you in a moment.
Weiss put on her headphones and jumped into the game. The inn built around Myrten Aster and her party was waiting for her as always.
Crescent Scythe has sent you a party request, for Ember Celica’s party.
You have joined Ember Celica’s party.
“Hey Aster!” Celica greeted, “You okay?”
“Yes, I’m fine, Celica,” Weiss assured.
“You sure?” Celica pressed, “Cause you don’t talk about your real life, but you’ve never skipped a night online either. I doubt this is your first bad day in almost two years.”
“Has it really been that long already?” Weiss was surprised by the knowledge.
“Yeah, and you’ve come so far from the n00b I found in the guild hall!” Ruby laughed.
“Must you always lord that over my head?” Weiss groaned.
“Not until the student surpasses the master,” Ruby replied, putting on a cheesy voice.
“That’s literally impossible. You’re almost twenty levels higher than the rest of us,” Weiss pointed out, “You know I’ve gotten messages asking what blackmail I’m using to keep you around?”
“Really?” Ruby asked, “I… don’t know how to process that.”
“Actually, I have too,” Celica confessed, “I usually just ignore messages unless I recognize the screen name.”
“Same here,” Gambol spoke up.
“That is so weird…” Ruby’s character ran a ‘shake head’ emote. “So! Shall we quest? Maybe Aster will open up once she’s distracted by being knee deep in slimes!”
“Must you lord that over me as well!” Weiss scolded, knowing exactly was Ruby was trying to tease her over, “I didn’t know how to fight back then!” Her comment was only met with laughs.
Teasing finally over, the group made their way into the fields for some basic leveling for Celica, Gambol and Aster. Crescent didn’t need it, clearly, but she still wasn’t going on the next quest alone – even if she could theoretically handle it – and said quest was still a level or two above the rest of them.
“So, are we going to hear about your terrible day, Aster?” Celica asked.
“If you must know,” Weiss searched her head to pick her words carefully, “I was turned down today from something I thought might have been a sure bet…”
“Oh, that does suck,” Celica seemed to properly empathize for once. “Don’t get ice cream all over your keyboard!”
Weiss didn’t retaliate for two reasons. One, she knew Celica’s teasing came from a place of love. And two, she was totally right about Weiss indulging in ice cream while she played. “I know how not to make a mess,” was how she eventually decide to respond.
“So you are eating ice cream?” Celica was surprised, “Damn.”
“That’s… kinda funny,” Ruby responded, somewhat subdued.
“Excuse me?” Weiss asked.
“Nonono!” Ruby panicked, “I mean, I uhh… actually had to turn someone down today, is all.”
“Really?” Celica questioned, “Why am I not hearing about these things?”
Weiss quickly wracked her mind for how she would react before she knew who Crescent really was. “I bet she’s just turning down people all the time!” Weiss winced at herself. She’d call that a 50-50 success.
“Not really,” Ruby admitted, “The only social interactions I really have are with customers in the coffee shop.”
“So it was a customer,” Gambol quickly deduced.
“Who?” Celica quickly jumped in, ready to be Ruby’s big sister.
“It was that regular who was mean to me a long time ago, Weiss,” Ruby confessed.
“I could have told you that would happen,” Gambol told them.
“Why did you turn her down?” Weiss quickly interrupted before anyone could try and dissect Gambol’s comment. She quickly cursed herself for her choice in question doing so.
“B-because… I…” Ruby was hesitant.
“Because she’s already got an eye on someone,” Celica spoke up for her sister.
“YA- I MEAN CELI- AH, YOU… SISTER, YOU!” Ruby screamed, “SHUT UP!”
“What? You’re turning people down for a crush you’ve never pursued,” Celica rationalized, “It’s time to crap or get off the pot.”
“Ew,” Weiss scrunched her nose at the vulgar metaphor.
“So, Crescent does have a crush after all?” Gambol teased.
“If you only talk to people from the coffee shop, is it another regular?” Weiss asked, deciding she’s gone too far already and might as well go all in.
“No, I don’t really talk to any of them. Except Weiss,” Ruby answered, defeated.
“That just leaves Remnant Online,” Gambol seemed interested in unraveling this puzzle herself, “Do you play with anyone else regularly when the rest of us aren’t online?”
She plays without the three of us? Weiss learned, I guess that explains how she maintains her level gap over us.
“Not anyone specific, just anyone who’s free at the moment in the guild,” Ruby continued her slow, defeated reveal.
“So…” Weiss pressed.
“That means…” Gambol seemed closer to the truth herself.
“Well…” Ruby sighed, “Celica is my sister and my boss, and Gambol is both straight and my other boss…”
“That just leaves… Aster…” Gambol finished.
“Yeah…” Ruby confirmed quietly.
Weiss completely froze, her character taking hits from the enemies around the party.
“A-Aster…?” Ruby squeaked, clearly seeing Weiss’s motionless character. “Aster, say something… please…”
Myrten Aster has left the server.
Weiss smashed the log-out button. Her next discernable thought was her curled into her bed, desperately trying to process. She had panicked, oh hell, she had panicked. Her brain just couldn’t take being rejected one moment, and then approached just a few hours later by the same girl. Sure, that girl thought she was talking to two different people, but in all the emotional drama Weiss’s brain was having a hard time comprehending that fact.
When it finally came through as she calmed down a little, Weiss still faced the issue of what exactly she was going to do about it. Weiss had fallen for Ruby, and Crescent had fallen for Aster. The only issue is that Ruby/Crescent didn’t know Weiss was Aster. Weiss did, though, and the ball was in her court now. It was time to come clean, especially if she had any hope of things working out between the two of them.
The next morning, Weiss awoke and noticed RO’s launcher was still on her screen, with twelve new PMs.
Crescent Scythe: Aster! I’m so sorry! Please log back on so we can talk!
Crescent Scythe: Aster? Please log back on…
Crescent Scythe: I’m sorry I freaked you out. Can we still be friends?
Crescent Scythe: We can meet up IRL?
Crescent Scythe: Not in a girlfriend way, of course! In a friend-friend way.
Crescent Scythe: That was stupid of me, wasn’t it? I don’t even know if we live close by. You could be halfway across the world!
Crescent Scythe: You probably would have called me a dolt or something for trying to pull that, haha.
Crescent Scythe: Aster…?
Crescent Scythe: At least you’re not leaving me on ‘read’…
Crescent Scythe: I get it…
Crescent Scythe: If you don’t want to play anymore, I understand… just please let us know. You can message Ember Celica if you don’t want to talk to me.
Crescent Scythe: Goodbye, Myrten Aster.
Reading Ruby’s messages broke Weiss’s heart. Ruby clearly thought she had massively screwed up and was losing Myrten Aster. Weiss knew what she had to do. She had learned lot of things the past few weeks, and while it wasn’t the most important lesson, she knew which one would serve her here. She had to apologize in person.
   ---
From the outside, no one would know something was amiss inside SunnyKat Kafé. But stepping through that door, Weiss could feel it. The energy within was different, and she had a hunch she knew the cause. Behind the counter, Ruby half-heartedly cleaned out the machines. Her eyes were gray.
“Hello, Ruby,” Weiss called out cautiously.
Ruby did a double take. “W-Weiss!? You’re still coming here…?”
Weiss stepped up to the counter, nerves making her bite her lip. “Yeah, I am.”
“I mean, not to be rude, but… why?” Ruby asked. “Isn’t it… awkward…?”
Weiss shook her head. “A little, but… you did ask to meet IRL, Crescent Scythe.”
Weiss could tell Ruby completely shut down for a brief second, blinking blank eyes rapidly. She finally began returning to the world, her mouth flapping and her fingers pointing around randomly. “I don’t under… how did you… that means…” Ruby finally met Weiss’s eyes once again, “Myrten Aster…?”
Weiss nodded. “It’s nice to meet you, properly.”
“But t-that means…” Ruby was struggling to process. Weiss imagined she looked much the same way the previous night. “YANG!” The young barista suddenly called out.
“What’s up, sis!?” Celica’s voice returned the call.
“Can I go on a break!?” Ruby continued to hold a long-distance conversation.
“If no one’s up there, sure! Sun said he’s just around the corner!”
“Thank you!” Ruby shouted one last comment before leading Weiss to one of the few tables. “So… you’re really Myrten Aster?”
“I first met Crescent Scythe in the guild hall for the Beacon Guild,” Weiss answered with indisputable facts, “I had chosen my character based on appearance, and knew nothing about my own stats. I didn’t like being accidently forced into a support role, but you taught me everything I needed to know to survive Remnant Online. You constantly tease me about dying against a group of slimes in my first dungeon. You were my first online friend, and honestly… probably my first friend period.”
Ruby nodded, absorbing the info slowly. “How long have you known I was Crescent Scythe?”
“Since you complained about me to Myrten Aster,” Weiss answered honestly, “You were the ‘close friend’ that taught me the error of my ways.”
“So… you asked me out, and I turned you down…” Ruby articulated her thoughts, “Then I asked you out… no wonder you vanished… that must have been confusing…”
“It was,” Weiss nodded.
“And you’re here now to say…?” Ruby questioned, clearly unsure of herself.
Weiss smiled, “I go to lunch around ten-thirty, eleven… Are you going to be free?”
Ruby’s jaw dropped. That was clearly the last thing she expected. “Y-yeah! Of course!”
“I can send you a message when I’m coming to pick you up, if you’re willing to trade numbers?” Weiss asked.
“Definitely!” Ruby whipped out her phone and followed Weiss’s instructions to add her contact info. “We can do – oh what do people do for a first date – this is a date, right? – Of course it’s a date, dummy! – We can do… coffee…?”
Weiss giggled throughout Ruby’s rambling, even as the redhead became less sure of herself by the end. “A coffee date? Seriously? I can’t a do a coffee date with you.”
“Oh. Why not?” Ruby asked innocently.
“Because then it wouldn’t be you making my coffee,” Weiss answered, turning slightly red herself, “And then the coffee wouldn’t be perfect.”
It was Ruby’s turn to blush, “You think my coffee is perfect…?”
“It is for me, at least,” Weiss nodded.
“Hey, Rubes, I need you back on the counter,” a blonde, large in more ways than one, stepped out of the back while speaking with Celica’s voice. “Sun said he’s going to be late… oh hey. You must be Weiss.”
“Hello, Yang, was it?” Weiss skimmed her memory for whatever Ruby called her big sister a few minutes ago.
“That’s right,” Yang stepped protectively next to Ruby. “No offense, but why are you here? After yesterday… What exactly do you want with my sister?”
“Yang, wait,” Ruby cut in. “Weiss, this is my sister, Yang Xiao Long. Or, Ember Celica.”
“Why are you-”
“And Yang,” Ruby cut her sister off, “This is Weiss Schnee. Or, Myrten Aster.”
Yang blinked. “Wait, seriously?”
“Yup,” Ruby nodded.
Yang stepped back, taking in the information. “So… everything is good here…?”
“Yup,” Ruby nodded again.
“Okay, cool… I’m gunna go bug Blake.”
“I’m guessing Blake is the black-haired one from ‘that day’?” Weiss asked as Yang retreated, “As well as Gambol Shroud?”
“That’s right,” Ruby confirmed.
“As much as I would love to meet everybody, I am already late for work,” Weiss stood up.
“Wait!” Ruby dashed back behind the counter and started working the machines. In record time she had made a vanilla latte with soy. “It’s probably not as ‘perfect’ as usual, but you still need your coffee!”
“Thank you, Ruby,” Weiss smiled, taking a sip. “It is still perfect,” she assured, “I’ll see you around lunchtime!”
“See you then!” Ruby smiled brightly, her eyes once again a gleaming silver.

You’re Hard to Miss
Tumblr media
Summary: I frequent this bar to let loose and today is no different, except for a new but handsome face I don't recognize.
Warning: Female reader
A/N: So, I've been working up the nerve to start posting this for about a week and here it is. I haven't posted a fic anywhere since 2010 and while I've written a ton in those years, this'll be my first on AO3 and Tumblr, so have mercy on me. The second chapter is already in the works and will contain steamy things, so the Mature rating is for safety. Enjoy.
Chapter 1: Through a Crowded Room, Look at Me Like You Know Me
The bass of the music rumbled in my chest as I got closer to the club entrance. I frequented this place after a stressful work week, more often than not going by myself. It was in a more upscale part of town, so the crowd tended to be pretty manageable and not consist of too many people looking to blackout every night. I adjusted my red dress and jacket as I approached the door, flashing a smile at one of the bouncers.
“Hey, Frankie,” I greeted him.
“Have a good night, Y/N,” he replied, holding a hand up and high-fiving me.
I had been coming here for so long that I knew quite a few employees by name, one of them actually being my roommate. I cut through the crowd, heading straight for the bar so I could loosen up before I lost myself on the dance floor. I squeezed into a tight space between two men, one standing and one sitting. I felt the man standing on my left shift, so he was facing me. I caught him staring at me as I waited for my bartending roommate to finish his current task.
“Hey, sexy, the name's Bryce and if you’re lucky, you’ll be screaming it a lot tonight,” he proposed like the biggest douchebag ever.
“No thanks, dude,” I frowned and shifted uncomfortably as I glanced at the gaudily dressed man, a large gold watch and perfect, white teeth gleaming at me. I pulled my leather jacket tighter around me, taking a small side step away from him.
The man on my right was unfazed as my leg accidentally brushed his, even going so far as to scoot his stool over to give me more room. I glanced at him, offering a small smile as I noticed his small act of kindness, which he returned with a slight raise of his glass. He was the polar opposite of the other man, dressed in a black suit with a navy button down. His medium-length, raven hair was slicked back, and his beard was neatly trimmed. They were like night and day, and so far I was favoring the night.
“How’s my favorite customer? The usual?” a comforting English accent spoke up. I looked forward, tearing my eyes away from the man on my right, and seeing the kind face of my roommate.
“Please, Marc. You’re a godsend,” I smiled, leaning forward and resting my forearms on the bar.
He set a clean glass in front of me, grabbing a bottle and pouring it in front of me. He slid the glass closer to me, accepting my credit card. He held it in between two fingers, “Tab?”
I nodded, sipping the drink, “When are you off?”
“I close tonight, darling,” he answered, scrunching his nose at the thought. He took notice of Bryce creeping on my left. Marc looked at me and raised his eyebrows, tugging at his pierced earlobe in thought. He flashed Bryce a dirty look, staying put until the guy gave up and left the bar. “Can I get you another, John?” Marc asked, addressing the embodiment of mystery on my right.
“I’m good for now, thanks,” the low, gruff voice answered. Marc nodded, his attention being beckoned on the other side of the bar. He gave me one last smile, patting the bar top, and walking away.
“Didn’t know Marc had a girlfriend,” the man, John, spoke up and took a sip of his own drink.
I laughed out loud, probably harder than I intended. “I’m not—he—he swings the other way. We’re just roommates,” I laughed, choking on my words slightly.
“Ah, my apologies,” he chuckled, blushing slightly at the mistake.
“No, no I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to embarrass you, he’s just one hundred percent into men,” I clarified sheepishly, feeling bad for laughing. “Are you new? I’ve never seen you here before,” I asked, clearing my throat.
“No, not new. I prefer the less crowded areas, but it’s quite busy today,” he observed, glancing around at the packed club. He turned back toward me, his eyes about level with mine despite him sitting down.
“That makes sense,” I nodded.
“What does?” he tilted his head at me.
“You probably stick to the tables in the corners, so I’ve never seen you, but you’re comfortable enough to ask about Marc's relationship status which means you’ve been coming here a while. I just never noticed,” I shrugged, downing the last of my drink.
“I noticed you,” he commented, staring forward at the rows of bottles.
“Oh, really?” I smirked, chewing on my lip. I glanced at Marc, who gave me an encouraging nod and mouthing he's hot.
“You’re hard to miss,” he nodded, looking back at me.
“Well, if you’re curious enough, you could always come dance with me,” I offered, stepping closer to him.
He looked like he was fighting himself on keeping his hands fixed, one on the bar top and one on his thigh. “I, uh, I don’t dance,” he replied, taking a sip of his drink and clearing his throat.
“That’s too bad,” I smirked, holding his gaze before backing up and blending into the crowded dance floor.
I watched him follow me with his eyes for a bit before losing myself in the music. I wasn’t sure how long I danced before I felt a pair of hands land on my hips and a presence behind me. The hands guided me closer to the body they belonged to, settling me into a rhythm with their own hips. I had no idea who it was, but so long as their hands didn’t venture any further, there wouldn’t be any issues. I secretly hoped it would be John, but from my position on the dance floor I couldn’t see the bar through the crowd. It wasn’t until a voice spoke in my ear, that I knew it definitely wasn’t John.
“How about we get outta here?” the voice asked, sending chills down my spine and not in a good way either.
I swallowed, looking down and seeing the same gaudy watch from earlier. While creeped out, I was annoyed that the guy couldn’t take a hint and made my annoyance known. “How about I just got here and I don’t feel like leaving, so no?”
Bryce's hands gripped my hips tighter, “How about it wasn’t a question?” his voice seethed.
I cursed in my head as the man shoved me forward through the crowd, three other men materializing around him. They looked around, not too subtly, as they shoved me out of the crowd and to a back exit. I tried to turn and catch Marc's attention, but he was facing away from us. I felt something rigid press against my back and a faint clicking noise, causing me to tense.
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” the voice murmured in my ear.
I gulped, hoping someone would take notice but everyone was in their own little world. I doubted John even knew I was gone, not that he had any reason to care.
-
“She take off? Marc asked as he passed by John. He looked out into the crowded dance floor, searching with squinted eyes.
“Yea, to dance,” John answered, also trying to peer through the crowd as Marc's presence had briefly torn his eyes away from my dancing form.
“I don’t see her,” Marc murmured, wiping his hands on a towel and tossing it over his shoulder.
Movement caught the corner of John's eye, his head turning sharply as he saw a group of men piling through the back door with a flash of red material as the door closed.
“Shit,” John murmured, standing quickly and stalking toward the back door. He ignored Marc’s shouts of his name as he took off.
-
The cold air hit me in the face as I was ushered into the back alley of the club and pressed into the brick. I hissed as I was not so gently shoved against the wall, with Bryce's hands clamping down on my neck.
“Here, take it. Take whatever you want,” I gulped, shoving my purse into his chest.
“Oh, I will, but it has nothing to do with anything in there,” he grinned, glancing at my purse. One of his hands turned my head away from him and I screwed my eyes shut, his mouth inches from my cheek. I pressed against the wall as if I was trying to phase through it, trying to get away from him.
“Let her go,” a familiarly gruff voice sounded in the darkness.
My eyes flew open at the voice, seeing John with a pistol pointed at us. Bryce's three stooges drew their guns, pointing them at John. John’s eyes darkened, and his features steeled, a silent rage making itself known. The three men advanced on John as Bryce turned his attention back to me. There was no way John could outgun three men at the same time, right? Against my better judgement, I decided to cause a distraction. I grimaced slightly as the breath of this creep entered my nose but allowed him to come closer anyway. Before his mouth could make contact with my skin, I drove my knee up into his groin. He doubled over in pain and cried out, head-butting me on purpose as he did. My head cracked against the wall, making me see stars as I felt blood drip down my nose. I caught the attention of his henchmen as they turned to see what had happened, so I kept the attention and punched him as hard as I could in the jaw. He stumbled back, just as three gunshots rang out. I jumped in my skin, squeezing my eyes shut, and freezing as I heard bodies hit the ground. I hesitantly opened my eyes and looked down, seeing the three men on the floor, each with a bullet hole in the head. John’s footsteps approached, causing me to snap my head up and watch as he strode past me. He grabbed Bryce by the neck, dropping him to the ground swiftly and laying down punch after punch onto his face. I watched as a knife in John's hand caught light and glinted in the dark alley. I tore my eyes away as his arm came down and the knife was swiftly plunged into the creep’s neck. While I turned my eyes away, I heard Bryce choking on his blood and gurgling. John calmly wiped the blade on the Bryce's suit before retracting it and sliding it back into his pocket. John pulled his phone out, the faint choking of the other man still present. He spoke briefly on the phone before pulling out four gold coins and stacking them on the forehead of the, now silent, man.
John stood and walked slowly over to where I was still standing against the wall. I backed up more, stilling when I realized I was pressed as far as I could go against the wall. He held his hands up to me, telling me that he wasn’t going to hurt me and for some odd reason I believed him.
“Are you okay?” John asked gently, not getting too close to avoid spooking me. He slowly pulled out a handkerchief from his suit pocket and handed it to me while keeping distance.
“Yeah,” I managed to whisper. “I, um, thank you,” I said as I accepted the handkerchief and wiped the drying blood away from my nose.
“No need to thank me,” he shrugged. He took the handkerchief from me, shoving it in his pocket. He laid his hands on my shoulders hesitantly but comfortingly, trying to search my eyes for any signs. “Are you su—?”
“Can I buy you a drink, then?” I interrupted, taking a deep but shaky breath.  I had been on the verge of shock as I just watched four men die right in front of me, until I heard John's soothing voice and felt his gentle touch. I was surprised at how tender his touch was, after watching his brief act of immense violence. Granted, they probably deserved it, but I was also slightly turned on by John's efficiency in his actions.
“Sure,” he nodded, removing his hands and opening the door. He waved his hand toward the doorway with a small smile.
We made our way back to the bar, Marc's worried face meeting mine immediately as we sat down.
“Oh my God, Y/N, are you okay? I couldn’t see you and then John bolted and—”
“Hey, I’m okay, now,” I reassured him, grabbing his hand. “Got paid a visit by Mr. McCreepy from earlier.”
“Do you want me to call Frank to go find him and toss him out?” he offered.
“I don’t think we’ll be seeing him again,” I said simply, trying to get the point across. I saw Marc's eyes widen slightly before his eyes met John’s gratefully.
“Round on me,” I requested, nodding to John. Marc nodded and poured our drinks, trying not to dwell on the implication I had just made. We accepted our glasses, Marc disappearing to other customers shortly after handing us our drinks.
“To your impeccable ninja skills,” I toasted, raising my glass to John’s.
“I’m not a ninja,” he protested with a humored shake of his head and a laugh.
“Then what might you be?” I asked, raising my eyebrows to him in question as we drank.
“A book binder,” he shrugged, his eyes twinkling with mirth as he sipped his drink.
“Bullshit.”
“Not bullshit, I swear,” he chuckled.
“I don’t think a random book binder would carry a pistol and be scarily good with it,” I crossed my arms and raised an eyebrow incredulously.
“What? You never know these days,” he defended with a teasing smirk.
“You’re so full of shit,” I laughed, shaking my head.
“Maybe,” he sipped, “and maybe I do that for a living,” he shrugged, gesturing his glass to the direction of the alley.
“See, that makes more sense.”
“So, you believe I’d be an assassin first, over a book binder?!” He furrowed his brows at me.
“I wouldn’t have said assassin, that sounds so fictional,” I grimaced, “but sure.”
“You’re good,” he nodded, “though I also do bind and restore books in my free time.”
“You say it like I pulled the observation out of nowhere, like I didn’t just watch you put down four dudes effortlessly.”
“I could have been a cop,” he tilted his head.
“You would have announced yourself, though, and I highly doubt you would have gone for the head or stabbed him in the neck after beating the shit out of him.” John went silent and stared at me for a bit. “What?” I questioned.
“How are you so calm right now?”
“I don’t really know, I mean I’m grateful you showed up. I was in shock for a bit, but I don’t know. Your voice, your presence is really comforting,” I murmured and took a deep breath before shrugging, “the drinks help, too.”
“But like you just said, you watched me kill four men,” he crossed his arms.
“You think I should be scared of you?” I questioned.
“I think that would be a safe, normal reaction, yea,” he answered dryly.
“But you saved me, so why should I be scared when you kinda seem like a guy who only goes after real scumbags. You went out of your way to notice I was missing, rescue me, and continued to make sure I was alright,” I stated.
“Marc started talking to me and I got distracted, or else I might have caught it earlier,” he sighed.
“That’s beside the point. We’re basically strangers, you didn’t have to keep an eye on me but you did. That makes you a good guy in my book, John,” I smiled, seeing a semblance of relief wash over his face.
“I told you, you’re hard to miss,” his voice lowered, the relief replaced by heat quickly.
“So, you were watching me dance?” I raised my eyebrows and smirked almost flirtatiously.
“Mhmm,” he rumbled in his throat.
“Did you enjoy yourself?” I asked, stepping closer to him until our legs touched.
“And if I did?” he tilted his head, licking his bottom lip, and absentmindedly running his thumb along his bearded chin.
“Maybe you deserve a private one, then,” I murmured and stepped forward until I was settled in between his open legs.
He breathed deeply, sitting up straighter as I cautiously laid a hand on his broad shoulder. One of his hands stayed firmly planted next to his glass while his other fought to unclench itself from his thigh. His hand eventually won, finding the soft material of my dress without breaking his eyes from mine. His gorgeous brown eyes darkened as his arm boldly wrapped around my waist. His face was so close to mine that I could feel every warm breath ghost across my lips.
“Would Marc survive if you didn’t go home tonight?” he murmured, his voice sending tingles along my skin.
“His boyfriend would be ecstatic. He’s been begging Marc for some alone time.”
“Mm, and tell me, Y/N, what would you beg for?” he questioned as his darkened eyes searched mine.
“Where’s the fun in me telling you now? You’ll just have to find out for yourself, won’t you?” I teased, my fingers gravitating to the hair plastered to the nape of his neck.
Our heads gravitated closer until his nose brushed against mine. His mouth was open slightly, anticipating and waiting patiently for my next move. His free hand managed to get Marc's attention by miming a signature.
“Closing out?” Marc's voice sounded, but I barely registered it. It blended in with the rest of the conversations as my focus was on John’s eyes and my thoughts flooding with the need to taste his lips. Without breaking eye contact, John flashed him a thumbs up. I could almost feel Marc's grin as he disappeared to grab our receipts and cards.
“Take that man for a ride, sweetheart. I can’t wait to hear about it later,” he beamed, patting the bar top and making himself scarce.
We broke our trance long enough to scribble our names indiscernibly on the receipts. Before I had time to process, John was tangling our fingers and leading me outside. I shivered as we stepped outside, whether it was at the thought of what John was planning to do to me or the brisk night air, I didn’t know. John read it as me freezing my ass off, so he let my hand go only as long as necessary to shrug his suit jacket off. He draped it over my shoulders and while I was still cold, my insides warmed at the gesture.
We approached a gray ’69 Mustang, John’s arm instinctively reaching for the passenger handle while letting me step ahead of him. I spun around to face him, blocking him from opening the door. I hesitated for a split second before grabbing his tie and bringing his lips to mine. His lips pressed insistently against mine, regaining control of the situation by winding a hand through my hair and trapping me between his car and his body. He hummed as I traced his lower lip with my tongue, his body reacting by pressing his hips firmly against me. His mouth suddenly left mine but hovered nearby as I felt his breath on my cheek. His chest expanded as he took a deep breath to calm himself down, keeping his hands in place on my hips.
“Get in the car,” he growled, leaving no room for questions. It took him a few seconds to separate himself from me, groaning slightly as the friction of his hips against me dissipated. This time, I allowed him to open the car door and sat almost too willingly in the seat as I waited for him.
A/N:  Thanks for reading! Still trying to work up the courage to write and post the spicy things that will make up Chapter 2.

Tumblr media
Deep breath in, deep breath out. If Jensen could do it you could do it.
Sure Jensen had years of experience with these under his belt, this is his literal job, and he knew at least somewhat what they were going to ask him.
But yeah if Jensen could do it you could do it, sure.
Your stomach was in knots, you could feel your entire body not just shaking but vibrating. It was as if the nervousness from every speech you’ve ever had to give was hitting you at once. But at least all of those times you had something prepared, you already knew what you were going to say, you didn’t here. You had nothing here.
Familiar green eyes made contact with yours from across the stage, a wink and smile sent in your direction and despite everything you felt a genuine one grow on your own face.
Scratch that you had one thing, you had him, and you honestly felt like that was enough.
“It would seem she’s a little shy” The laugh in his voice caught your attention, pulled you from your own little bubble, made you aware of the microphone being shoved into your hand.
Deep breath in, deep breath out, one foot in front of the other, and you were met with a wall of sound.
Cheers, they were cheering for you, they actually wanted to see you, that was new.
Your thumb hovered over the button, hesitating just as it did every time you did this. With a small sigh you clicked back to the photo, your lips turning up just slightly at the sight of it. It was an objectively cute photo, Jensen leaning over to kiss your cheek well you laughed into the camera, a genuine laugh that made you grin at the thought of it.
You friend had taken the photo for you and from that moment was gushing about how you just had to post it. And she wasn’t wrong, you were excited to post it, to show off your boyfriend and gush about your relationship, but that damn comments section.
You had learned long ago that disabling it was safest, many people had not even waited until you and Jensen made you relationship public to attack you, instead going back onto old photos of you and leaving nasty comments. And at first it wasn’t a big deal, just disable their ability to leave comments and you wouldn’t have to read them anymore, not that you ever really paid attention to your comments section.
But as the saying goes you never know what you have until its gone.
As stupid as you felt admitting it you loved reading people’s comments, compliments, teasing from your friends, Jared always making note to make fun of Jensen, you missed it.
So before you could talk yourself out of it you posted the picture. Setting down the phone right away, almost scared something would pop up immediately.
But of course nothing did, they gave you a good five minutes to enjoy your day before tearing it to shreds.
You jumped at the notification sound in spite of yourself, immediately reaching for the phone and checking it, the first comment coming in.
GOLD DIGGER
You knew that was ridiculous, you were an independent woman, you could more than survive on your own salary alone, you definitely weren’t just dating him for his salary. But damn did the insinuation hurt.
Another one
She’s not even that pretty I don’t understand why he would choose her
Had you an optimistic bone in your body you would have fixated on the latter part of that sentence, the fact that yes he choose you, but of course you chose to focus on the former, even worse you agreed with it. There was no arguing it Jensen was way out of your league, in attractiveness, in social standing, hell economically speaking if we want to go there, and they for sure did, so why did he chose you?
Jensen deserves so much more than you
He did, didn’t he.
You could feel a lump grow in your throat at the memory, biting your lip before awkwardly taking the seat next to Jensen, waving to the crowd you couldn’t even see behind the bright lights.
“You’re doing great”
The words were comfortingly whispered into your ear, tips of hair from the scruff on his face tickling your neck, sending another smile across your face. Maybe you could do this afterall.
“Anyone have any questions for the beautiful Y/N?” Jared’s voice boomed over the speakers, pulling you back.
“How did you and Jensen meet?” The voice came from one area but the lights were much to bright to discern exactly who was talking.
“uh-“ You started to panic a bit, trying desperately to force yourself to calm down enough to speak.
“I’m just saying the blip is a stupid name that seeks to lessen the loss of five years for half of the population” You muttered, catching the amused smirk your friend had on her face.
“And I’m just saying its all fictional and you need to get over it” She couldn’t keep the laughter out of her voice, loving how defensive you got over the subject .
“well I-“ You started to counter, honestly not 100 percent sure where you were going to go with the sentence when you collided hard with another person’s shoulder, sending both of you spinning around, nearly falling to the ground.
“Oh my god I’m so sorry” You immediately started to apologize, reaching over ready to help the man up when you stopped dead in your tracks as familiar green eyes connected with yours. “You’re Jensen Ackles”
A small smirk flashed across his face as he stood up straighter, you immediately following suit, cursing yourself for those words. “Last time I checked yeah I am”
“Oh does it change often?” You didn’t even think before the words came spilling out of your mouth, your knee jerk reaction always to return sarcasm with sarcasm.
His eyebrows raised just slightly, his smile just getting a bit wider “As an actor actually yeah it does”
“touché” You chuckled, immediate rearing up ready to apologize again for knocking him over and taking up his time stating the obvious, when he got to filling the silence first.
“Well since you already know my name I think it’s only fair that I should know yours”
Alarms started going off in your head. Was that flirting, was he flirting with you? Jensen Ackles, an actual celebrity, an incredibly attractive one at that, there was just no way.
“I’m Y/N”
His hands dug deep in his pockets and his tongue darted out to graze his bottom lip, you could feel your whole body freeze at the simple action.
“You seem quite sure of that”
“As a non-actor I can afford to be” You quipped, relishing in the fact that he was actually laughing at your jokes.
“Jensen we gotta go man” It was the first time you realized there were other people watching you, looking away from his gorgeous eyes long enough to catch a glance from your friend sending a deep blush on your cheeks.
“Yeah yeah” He brushed off the people he was with, looking back at you “I’ll see you around Y/N”
You chuckled softly before giving him an awkward wave “probably not” His eyebrows drew together causing you to continue “Sorry I know you just meant it as a nice sentiment just ignore me” more silence, more waiting for you to continue “I mean it’s not like we run in the same circles”
“well then can I have your number to make sure I do see you around”
You could feel the wind being knocked out of your chest, he really was hitting on you. You couldn’t get your voice to work, only giving him a slight nod before reaching out to take his phone, putting your contact information in it, checking the number three times before handing it back to him, just to be safe.
“We just bumped into eachother one day” A pun…a stupid pun…a pun they wouldn’t even get…that’s the best you could come up with.
To your relief you heard Jensen laugh next to you, jumping in to fill in the gaps immediately saving you, “she means that literally. I basically tackled her in a mall”
You laughed back, forgetting for a moment there were god knows how many people watching you, letting yourself get caught up in him, it was a nice familiar feeling.
“Where was your first date?” A random voice shouted out another question.
“We just kept it low key” You answered, relived to find this answer rolled off your tongue much easier than the last one “pizza and movies at his place”
You woke up to a small tickle on your forehead, your hand immediately coming up trying to push away the hair when you realized it wouldn’t go away, cause it wasn’t yours.
You slowly picked your head up, coming face to face with gorgeous green eyes.
“Well good morning to you too”
You looked down to see your legs thrown over his lap, your arms hanging limply around his neck, your head pressed into the crook of it, you were basically clinging onto him.
“uh-sorry” You stuttered, a blush rising quickly up your cheeks as you started to untangle yourself from him, only to have him hold onto you tighter, keeping you in place.
“You definitely have nothing to be sorry for” He assured you with a soft smile.
“good cause I’m not” You shot back with a giggle, placing your head back onto his shoulder, looking back at the tv screen to see the credits rolling through, the last remnants of your movie date night.
“What time is it?”
“1am I think” He shrugged
You cursed under your breath, burying your head a little deeper “I don’t want to leave yet”
“then don’t” He answered quickly “It’s late and also pouring down rain”
“I wouldn’t want to impose-“
“You wouldn’t be” He interrupted you “You can have the guest bed if you want”
“Are you sure” You asked him, sitting up once again to look him in the eyes.
“Of course” He chuckled, his eyes bouncing back and forth between your own.
“Then I’d like that”
“me too”
-
The rain hadn’t seemed so bad at first, just some light tapping on the window, but as the eye of the storm moved closer everything got worse. The rain itself wasn’t bad still, sounded like marbles falling onto the roof. but the thunder, that’s what scared you.
You had pulled the blankets up over your head, as if it could protect you from the deafening cracks that without fail made you jump. The lightning illuminating the room for a second giving you little warning before the sky split open.
You thought you could handle it, hands over your ears, hiding, telling yourself that it was going to be ok. But then it got to the point that the walls shook with the sound and before you knew it you were standing in front of Jensen’s door.
You decided to give it a short knock before walking right in, not entirely sure how best to handle the situation. Hesitantly you whispered his name, watching in relief as he slowly sat up, his hands going to his eyes rubbing the sleep from them.
“Y/N? what’s wrong”
You froze for a moment, unsure of what to say. You hadn’t thought any of this through and in that moment just telling him didn’t feel like the right answer. The room flooded with light for a brief moment and seconds after a loud crack, making you jump and tense up, something that didn’t go unnoticed by him.
“Come here” Was all he said, lifting up the blankets and you didn’t think twice before diving underneath them. He waisted no time in wrapping his arms around you, pulling you deep into his chest, your head resting comfortably on it.
“I’m sorry”
“You never need to be sorry” He assured you, hugging you tightly.
Another flash of lightning, another clap of thunder, another jump.
He pressed a kiss to the top of your head, mumbling into your hair “you’re ok. I’ve got you”
And in all honesty you fully believed him
“Ah right then we slept together”
You hit him on the chest right away, your cheeks dusting red as you rolled your eyes “we did not sleep together on our first date…we just slept in eachothers arms”
A chorus of ‘awws’ erupted around the room including an overzealous one coming from Jared’s chair making you blush even harder, maybe you should have just gone with Jensen’s version of events.
“Since you’ve never had to deal with the paparazzi before what’s that like?”
“It can be hard” You answered honestly, not missing the way Jensen’s hand immediately sought yours out, rubbing soft circles on the skin “especially in the beginning”
“Can I open my eyes yet?”
“No”
“how about now”
“Still no”
“now?”
“You really are a child aren’t you”
“Maybe but I’m you’re child”
“You know that was probably meant to be sweet but it just came across as kinda creepy” You laughed at him, finally pulling into a parking spot after much too long looking for one.
“Yeah not my best work” He admitted with a chuckle.
“Alright you can open your eyes”
He gasped loudly, grabbing your hand tightly, looking at you with wide eyes “how did you know I love parking lots?”
You rolled your eyes and tried to fight the smile off of your face “alright just get out of the car smartass”
He laughed in response, giving you a smirk before stepping out of the car, freezing once he finally did see where you were at “the carnival?”
“It’s its first day in town” You shrugged “thought it would be fun”
“I haven’t been in years” He laughed, staring up at it.
“I hope its ok”
“It’s perfect” He assured you, walking around the car to throw his arm over your shoulders, leading you to the ticket booth.
Despite protests that it was your date he still paid for the tickets, walking lazily around the carnival with his hand in yours, trying to decide what to do first when one of the workers jumped from his booth into your path.
“hey what do you say buddy win your lady a prize?” He gestured up at the giant stuffed teddy bears, a signature untrustworthy smirk playing on his face as he locked eyes with Jensen.
“That’s the whole reason you brought me here wasn’t it” He laughed looking down at you “You wanted a giant bear”
“well I’m not saying I’d be opposed to one” He chuckled at you, handing the man five dollars and listening as he explained the rules, you breaking off from him to watch.
Jensen picked up one of the baseballs, taking a moment to test it’s weight in his hands before cocking his arm and throwing it just to the left of the milk bottles.
“You know the point of the game is to hit those right?”
You watched as he mimicked you under his breath, picking up the next ball and letting it sail just to the right of the bottles.
“I’m just saying at this rate you’ll be broke before I get the bear”
He locked eyes with you, sending you a glare and picking up the ball before winking, quickly cocking his arm and knocking over all three bottles in one throw.
“We have a winner!” The man shouted, climbing up on the counter and pulling down one of the bears, lowering it into your arms
“And you doubted me” Jensen teased, walking back over to you with a smile on his face.
You opened your mouth to respond but was cut off by someone else calling his name. This was something that by this point you were used to, random people recognizing him in restaurants and such asking for an autograph. But you watched as this guy pulled out a notepad and asked if he could ask Jensen some questions.
Immediately Jensen stepped in front of you, blocking you from view.
“Look kid I know you’re just trying to do your job but I’m just here to have fun no questions please”
The reporter didn’t back off, ignoring him completely, continuing to barrage him with questions. Jensen tired to talk him down, tried to get him to leave, but nothing worked, so he finally just grabbed your hand and dragged you away from the guy, keeping his body between you and the reporter.
You didn’t question him just let him drag you away, watching the way his jaw set as he heard the guy calling after him but luckily didn’t follow you two.
“Jensen are you ok?” You asked him once you had finally gotten far enough away, pausing behind some random tent.
He squeezed your hand, sending you a soft but obviously painted on smile. “I’m fine, I’m just really sorry about that guy?”
“It’s not your fault” You shrugged, rubbing a thumb across his hand, trying to get him to calm down “and I’m fine it was just one guy he didn’t even care about me”
“It is my fault” he insisted with a sigh “it’s my fault he came up to me”
“It’s your fault that you were you?” You chuckled shaking your head at him “that’s ridiculous, it’s not your fault, and no harm was done, don’t even worry about it”
He looked at you, the corners of his mouth tipped up finally, “what did I do to deserve you?”
“Beats me” You chuckled earning yourself an eyeroll “but how bout I run this bear to the car, you buy me an elephant ear, and we’ll go on the Farris wheel in a bit”
“I’d like that” He nodded.
You grinned back at him, nodding back briefly before heading back to the car, Jensen heading over to one of the food trucks.
It took some effort but the bear eventually did fit in the back seat, you just couldn’t see out of the back window which sounded like a problem for the drive home not now.
Your phone beeped with a message from Jensen letting you know where to meet him. You started to make your way back into the carnival when you paused noticing the unusually long line to get into the park, each one of them wearing large cameras around their necks, reporters. That guy must have tipped them off and now they were all here for Jensen, shit.
You ran back through the grounds, trying to make sure you didn’t tip anyone off that you were heading where they needed to, when you finally spotted Jensen sitting at one of the picnic tables, a giant elephant ear on a plate in front of him, a grin appearing on his face as soon as he spotted you.
You ran up and grabbed his hand, trying to pull him to his feet “we need to go”
“What’s wrong” He furrowed his brow, slowly getting up but not moving from his seat.
“The reporter must have tipped off some of his buddies, there’s a whole bunch trying to get into the park right now” You rambled off quickly, glancing nervously around you.
Jensen immediately started to do the same, accidently making eye contact with more than a few in the process. Several of them started to sprint in your direction, calling his name, camera bulbs flashing harshly in the process. “shit” He swore under his breath and pulled you off in the other direction.
You tried to keep up with him, your much shorter legs struggling to do so, when he finally yanked you into a random tent, pulling the flaps closed and pulling you into a corner, his eyes telling you to be quiet just in case.
The two of you sat in the tent for a bit, perfectly silent, listening as footsteps passed in front of the tent and just as quickly faded.
You waited until it was silent for quite some time before Jensen smiled down at you, sending you a small wink to say you were in the clear.
“fuck Jens I’m so sorry”
His face immediately fell, his eyebrows drawing up “what are you sorry for”
“This date!” You exclaimed “it’s been an absolute mess”
“and that’s not your fault” He pressed
“it’s the first night its here I should have known there would be someone here to cover it”
He shook his head “there is no way that any of this is your fault”
“it is! I should have thought this through. I should have taken more precautions, I shouldn’t have brought you here in the first place” Words flowed from your mouth quickly as you started to spiral, Jensen trying desperately to get you to stop before he finally took matter into his own hands. He grabbed your face with two hands, not giving you a second to process what was happening before pressing his lips against yours.
You froze on the spot, total shock taking over you as you just stood there dumbly with wide eyes until he pulled back from you.
“this is not your fault” He assured you with a small chuckle, watching your cheeks heat up as you just stared at him with big eyes.
“you..you kissed me” You stuttered out, unable to think about anything else, your hands rising up to your lips, brushing over them.
“I did” He replied slowly “I’m sorry I should have asked if that was ok”
“no no” You shook your head, finally bringing your gaze up to meet his own “it’s not that it’s just…that was my first”
He drew his brows again “your first kiss?”
You just nodded sheepishly.
“oh shit” He mumbled, running a hand through his hair “If I had known that I would have made it much more romantic. Not just in a random tent in a carnival”
“No it was perfect” You giggled, biting your lip softly.
“I guess I’ll just have to make it up to you later” He chuckled “but first we should probably get out of here” He started shrugging off his coat, handing it to you along with his baseball cap “here put these on”
“but it’s something you get used to” You said with a small smile, looking down at the hands in your lap “and they did get me my first kiss so I guess it’s not all bad”
Jensen laughed again from his chair but didn’t say anything, giving you the floor, acknowledging that at this point you could handle yourself.
“Just in general what is dating Jensen like?”
“It’s a roller coaster” You answered honestly with a small laugh in your voice, giving his hand a small squeeze. “it can have its lows” the paparazzi, media attention, being hounded whenever you went outside, the mean comments, life wasn’t exactly a cakewalk with him “and it definitely has it’s highs”
Half an hour passed without you realizing it, just sitting on your bed, scrolling through comments, not even bothering to wipe the tears as they rolled down your face.
The front door sounded as someone walked through it, presumably Jensen back from work, and you jumped into action, wiping away at your cheeks, tossing your phone across the room with little care as to where it landed, hell better if it broke least then you wouldn’t be tempted to check Instagram again.
He came into the bedroom, a grin on his face and a bouquet of roses in his hands, held proudly in front of him.
“Jensen what’s all this for” You put on your best happy face, grabbing the roses and immediately trying to hide your face behind them.
“I was just thinking about you on the way home and all of a sudden I was in front of a flower shop” He chuckled, reaching out to brush some hair from your face, his brows immediately drawing in concern “Babe what’s wrong”
You never could hide anything from him, damn that acting career, nevertheless you tried “nothing Jens”
“As much as I like the idea of you being so overcome with emotion at the fact that your boyfriend spontaneously brought you flowers home I don’t think that’s what happened” He said was a small chuckle, trying to lighten the mood.
And despite everything you did smile a bit, finally looking up to meet his gaze, finally letting him see the full extent of your puffy red eyes.
“I got a post notification from you a few minutes ago…did you-“ He didn’t even need to finish the sentence, understanding what was going on immediately, having been in this exact situation not too long ago.
You didn’t say anything, setting the roses down on the bed and hugging him tightly, trying to pull yourself as far into him as you could, letting him anchor you, letting him protect you.
“Why do they hate me” You had said it so softly you were unsure if he heard you, unsure if you wanted him to hear you.
“They don’t hate you Y/N” Jensen put his harms around your shoulders, squeezing you tightly into him, resting his chin on top of your head.
“They do” You pressed “the awful things they say to me”
“They’re assholes” He shook his head “they don’t even know you”
“but they’re not wrong” You regretted the words as soon as you said them, you did not need to push your insecurities onto him he didn’t need your burden to carry.
“What?” He pulled back from you and you practically whimpered at the loss of contact, reluctantly looking up at him through your lashes, wishing you could take back the words.
“Nothing just please hold me”
“What do you mean they’re not wrong Y/N” He wasn’t letting this one go.
“You’re a big movie star Jensen” You couldn’t meet his eye contact, your eyes falling to the floor “your handsome and successful and famous and I’m…I’m just me…I’m nothing”
“You are not nothing” The words came out of his mouth quickly, so forceful it left a small part of you worried he was angry “You are so far out of my league its not even funny”
You pushed the corners of your mouth up, moving in to hug him again “thanks Jensen”
“I mean it” He hugged you back “they don’t know you, I’m the one who gets to see this amazing, sweet, caring, funny, intelligent person everyday. So I’m definitely the one you should trust in this situation”
You couldn’t help but laugh into his chest, letting a bit of the weight off your shoulders. “I trust you”
“Good” You could hear the smile in his voice “cause I’m always right”
You finally let a louder laugh escape your lips, pulling back from him but always keeping him at arms length “we’ll I don’t know about that”
He feigned hurt, pulling an arm up to his chest and scoffing “How dare you”
“mhm” you hummed with a smirk, going up onto your toes and pecking his lips, his offended attitude melting away immediately “I love you”
“I love you too”
There was silence for a moment, just enjoying the feeling of Jensen against you, before he broke it again “come take a shower with me”
You shook your head against his chest, pulling back again “I’m not really in the mood Jens”
“not in that way you perv” He joked with a soft chuckle, making a point to softly flick your nose “just help calm you down”
“I’m fine” You tried to shake it off, wanting to do nothing more than collapse in the bed and forget about this afternoon.
“We both know that’s not true” He sighed, taking your hand, softly pulling you to the bathroom.
You groaned but obliged, following him into the bathroom. He grinned at your compliance, turning on the water and stripping, making a show of keeping his boxers on before getting in the shower.
You eyed his suspiciously, not entirely sure what you had gotten yourself into but did the same, following behind him, only to be met with a bone crushing hug.
Immediately you took note of the feeling of his skin against yours, his arms, his chest, his stomach, his thighs. Every part of him was open to your touch, his fingers delicately tracing figures into your back as he hugged you. The water was nice and hot, making the entire room steam, his scent was everywhere around you, his skin was soft and wet to the touch. And before you knew it you were completely melting into him just enjoying the feeling of him.
“but the highs always outweigh the lows” you finished with a soft smile, looking back up at Jensen who wore a similar expression on his face.
“Jensen what do you think?”
He laughed softly, not taking an eye off of you for a second “This relationship is unlike anything I’ve ever been in before” He chuckled softly “but I can honestly say I’ve never loved anyone like I love you”
You. He said you. Not her not Y/N he said you. He wasn’t talking to the crowd or even for their benefit, he was talking to you.
“I love you too” You didn’t bother to lift the microphone to your lips when you said it. This was your moment, this was yours and Jensen’s moment.
“anyways” Jared’s voice broke through everything, drawing you back once again, your eyes flicking away from Jensen’s quickly as if you had been caught doing something you weren’t supposed to have been. “anymore questions before we let Y/N out of here?”
The room was silent and you took that as your que to leave, getting ready to push yourself up from the chair when a voice sounded from the crowd.
“How big is he?”
You bit your lip and grinned up at him, his face dropping slightly. You could hear Jared rearrange himself in his chair and looked over to see him leaning heavily over the armrest towards you, looking as interested in your answer as possible.
“Do you want like a metaphor or inches. Cause in terms of inches he’s about-“
Jensen grabbed your mic from your hand immediately “alright that’s enough of that”
You laughed at him, sending him a wink as he tried to keep a straight face but failed miserably.
The crowd erupted in boo’s making him shake his head “not my fault” he defended “they’re giving me the signal it’s time to wrap it up, no more questions, we’re done”
You and Jared laughed at him as he rambled, sharing a look before standing. With a quick kiss on the cheek you left the stage, leaving them to do whatever they needed to in order to wrap things up, feeling as though you were coming down from a high.
Never had you thought that would have gone that well.

Happy Holidays @lovegeek1215  I’m your Secret Santa! I had a lot of fun writing this. I hope you enjoy it! @mlsecretsanta

The blare of the Akuma alarm had Nino jumping out of his skin. The new alarms are posted in every hallway and are awkwardly angled down toward the students. Nino makes a mental note to talk to a teacher or Mr. Damocles about the hallway acoustics and maybe dampening the tone so as to not harm the ears of the student body. He lets his eyes dart all over the seemingly empty hallway he was walking in, and then ducks into the first empty classroom he sees. For good measure, he closes himself in an supply cubby at the back of the room with a grate at eye level. The grate allows for him to keep a visual on the door incase the akuma comes around, and he is proud of himself for thinking in such a safety first LadyDude manner. Not seeing or hearing anything other than the slightly muted Akuma Alarm, Nino busies himself with silencing his phone and music and shooting Alya, Adrien, his mom, and the school alert system a text that he is safe in a classroom.
The creak of the door opening sends him jumping again and it takes everything in him and all his Carapace training to not make a racket in his hiding spot. He takes deep breaths to try and steady his racing heart and looks through the thin slats to examine his neighbor. The familiar blonde hair and white shirt have him pushing open the cubby door and opening his mouth to call out to his friend when he sees what can only be a kwami fly out of the model’s shirt pocket and then get sucked into the ring his friend wears every single day.
It takes approximately 1 minute for the image before him to sync with his brain and the reality of his best friend being Chat Noir draws an involuntary swear out of him before he can control himself.
“What the Fuck?!” Senses returning to him, Nino slams a palm over his mouth and slams the cubby door shut in one fluid motion. A black cat ear flicks and Nino struggles to breathe as Chat Noir’s eerie green eyes focus on the cabinet.
“Who’s there?” Hearing Chat’s voice again sends Nino reeling. The disconnect of having Adrien’s voice come from the hero is arresting and Nino finds himself frozen in place. His mind racing to connect all of the clues that were in front of him the whole time. That Adrien has never been akumatized, that the boy has an uncanny ability to completely disappear during an attack, that he has feline like grace when fencing, or really any sport he attempts, and that the dude is always exhausted. As the shock dwindles away, Nino keeps as still as humanly possible and his eyes locked on the ears he can see through the slats on the door.
Nino muses that Chat is infinitely more terrifying than any akuma or villain around as he has all the hunting instincts of a cat, the lethal skills of a superhero swordsman, and the ability to hyper fixate. Nino is not sure what would happen if the hero found him in the cubby but he doesn’t particularly care to find out. While at worst it would probably be a dressing down from LadyBug, he really wasn’t ready to talk to the model/super hero yet. He watches as Adri-no Chat!- opens his mouth to say something and takes a vague step forward when an explosion sounds from outside of the classroom. Chat’s head whips towards the sound, then back to the cubby and Nino sees the the hesitation on his friends perfect features.
One last look toward the cubby and Chat calls out, “If there is anyone in here, you would be wise to wait a minute after I leave the room and do your best to find your way out of the school. I’ll go first and try to draw the akuma away.” The teen hero leaps away out of the door not looking back and Nino waits until he can’t hear the sounds of battle before emerging from his hiding spot.
His phone vibrates in his pocket and he checks to see a message from Alya telling him to be safe and stay inside as the akuma causes people to grow roots in sunlight. Not needing to be told twice, Nino hunkers down in the cubby to wait out the attack to think through the scene he just lived through. His mind was almost blank with shock but with concentration he was able to focus on the things he knew to be true.
His best friend, model and heart throb, was also Chat Noir, hero and heart throb of Paris, and Nino knows somewhere deep inside himself, that he is probably one of 2 people to know. He knew, based on LadyBug’s lectures, that knowing put both him AND Adrien at risk of manipulation from Hawkmoth and Nino vowed in his tiny cubby to start joining his mom in her morning meditations.
Nino zones out lost deep in thought about secret identities and akumas and emotional control when he is woken by the all clear alarm. Fishing his phone from his pocket, he logs a note about the alarm volume in his phone and is interrupted by a text from Alya. He opens the attachment to see a low res picture of Adrien with his arm around Marinette seeming to prop her up. Alya has captioned it with hearts and stars and Nino finds himself conflicted as he makes his way towards the lunch room, which was where he had been heading before the attack.
He thinks about it, and he knows that he really wants Adrien to get a girlfriend. He knows that a relationship would be good for his friend in terms of socialization, but he’s never really been super invested in Adrien’s love life. He likes Marinette and thinks that she would help teach Adrien about unconditional love and family, but he also thinks that Kagami is super cool and super talented and Nino always figured that when the model made his choice, that would be that.
Now though? Now Nino knows that Adrien is in love with LadyBug (whoever she is) and that convincing Chat Noir to give up LadyBug has been an uphill battle for the red spotted heroine. Although Nino secretly thinks that LB may have feelings for his friend as she always seemed more affectionate with the cat hero when carapace was around to see them interact. And now Nino cannot just recommend his buddy give up on the coolest girl any of them knew.
On the other hand, LB has zero interest in Chat and how would a relationship between a super hero and a teen model work were he to woo her as Adrien? Nino can’t really see any of it working until they know each other’s identities. But Marinette and Kagami? Those girls were real and they were right in front of Adrien every day.
Arriving at the cafeteria, Nino watches the way Marinette flushes head to toe at Adrien’s attention to her well being and knows that the most important thing is maintaining Adrien’s happiness, and protecting his secret at all cost.
Lunch passes with little incident, and the class makes their way to Ms. Bustier’s room, Nino cannot keep his attention off of Adrien. Its shocking to know his secret and see him just hanging out with the class as if he didn’t place himself in danger every day. He enjoyed Adrien’s enthusiasm for his new mixes and how Adrien always wants to know everything a person has to say when they speak to him. He also looks closer as sees a teenager, a guy his age, with more muscle than body fat. Kim may be more athletic and stronger, but Adrien was solid muscle and it wouldn’t have seemed weird to Nino until he heard a disturbing gurgling. At the second instance he trained his eyes on the sources and watched as Adrien flushed in embarrassment.
The blond wrapped an arm around his stomach and apologized for the sound. The truth hit Nino like a ton of bricks, Adrien was kept on a super strict diet. Every bite of his food was calculated and all of the calories accounted for, or at least they would be, if Adrien was NOT a teenage superhero running parkour all over Paris all week burning god only knows how many more calories.
Nino reached into his bag and slid Adrien the almonds he never got around to eating at lunch when a sound behind him drew his attention. Marinette was sitting focused on her sketch pad and softly humming. Nino looked between the bluenette and his friend and devised a plan, a small smirk painting his face.
While not necessarily caring which of the girls Adrien could go for, Nino could at least help his buddy out and possibly Mari too if his plan worked. Waiting for the class to end, Nino packed up slower than Adrien and watched him run out of the door to go to a photoshoot. Nino waited until he was sure the model was gone before turning to Marinette, still absorbed in her sketch.
“Sup dudette! How’s it going?” Nino tried for his best charming smile.
Startled from her work, Marinette looked up at her friend and narrowed her eyes. “I’m good Nino, how are you?”
“Ahh I’m good dudette, I’m good,” He said while awkwardly rubbing his neck and fiddling with his hat brim. “I, uh, actually wanted to ask you a favor. If you don’t mind.”
Marinette’s eye widened with concern, “I would love to watch Chris this week Nino, but I am afraid that I have over booked myself this week with watching Manon, finishing commissions and class rep stuff.”
Nino waved his hands as if to clear the air between them, “No Marinette, no, I don’t need that kind of favor. Actually its about Adrien.”
Marinette turned a shade of red Nino had only ever seen on LB’s suit and  wildly flailed her arms about. “Wha-T Adrien about? About Adrien what?” She took a deep breath and centered herself, “What about Adrien, Nino?” The love and concern on her face was enough for Nino. He told her everything. Well, he told her everything he had been observing about Adrien, and today in class, was proven right, that the boy was not eating right. He watched Marinette’s eyes go from glassy embarrassment to filled with concern. He left her with a plan to help Adrien in place and the hopes that they would be able to accomplish their mission without interference from the adults.
Sure enough the following morning, Nino smiled to himself as he watched Marinette present the blond with the assorted box of pastry Nino suggested the day before. He watched as Adrien was filled with joy over the gift, and how quickly he wolfed down the treats. Watching Adrien laud praises on Marinette filled Nino with a certain joy as he hoped he was doing enough for his friends.
